Hanako snatched it from him, her face lighting up. "Thanks! This one’s my favorite!" She started to unwrap it, all while her brother looked on in dismay.
"He said we’d split it," Taro protested, which she ignored.
"Fight for it then, kid."
Taro shook his head, fisting his hands in the hem of his shirt. "I’d lose," he mumbled. "I always lose."
