'sup. I'm 18, enjoy creative writing, and am trying to hone it into something I can make a possible career out of.
Likes:
AUs — keeps me guessing, you know? I like pleasant surprises and shifts from canon. These can't be meaningless changes, but something that drives the story forwards.
Like 'What if Harry lost and Voldemort won, leaving magical Britain to deal with the fallout?'
NON-CANON PAIRINGS — c'mon! You can't tell me that non-canon pairings aren't cool. It's interesting to see how changing a series of events leads to entirely different outcomes where romance is concerned (and the larger story as well!).
Dislikes:
HAREMS — I'm sorry, but they're entirely unrealistic to me. First, an author would need to be pretty skilled to write a harem, else they risk shining the focus on one girl to the detriment of the others, who exist as dolls for the main character to use when he feels "bored" of the "main girl" — something that defeats the point of a harem because if that happens, why not focus on a single pairing anyway instead of stringing along several girls for the sake of lemons.
SLASH — Slash fics just aren't my cup of tea. Nothing against people who are into them, but as the age-old adage goes: to each their own. We like what we like. Can't help that.
GENDER-BENDING — Right, there's a bit of nuance here. I'm not wholly against gender-bending characters, I'm against gender-bending characters when authors don't add anything. How is Naruko different to Naruto beyond having red hair and lavender eyes? But when gender-bent characters are written well, boy are those stories fun to read.
