I've been posting fanfic for almost a decade over on FFn, and was quite content to stay there, but since that archive seems to be now actively dying, I've decided to try to get over my slightly irrational fear of tags and post stuff here. For anyone who still reads over at FFn, yes, my username is the same both places. Feel free to just call me Skye, though. Or Azure. I'll answer to either.
I‘m only posting fics set in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, (though I have written for other fandoms over on FFn) and have some rather distinct ideas about that canon. I take Tolkien's idea that the Red Book of Westmarch (LotR and the Hobbit) and the Quenta Silmarillion are historical documents, and deal with them as I would any other such work (I have a BA in History). What that means is, not all of my ideas are really canon, or compatible with Letters, but could exist in a world where the Red Book and the Silmarillion were written.
Mainly, this difference centers around Sauron. I find evil for evil's sake rather boring, and write him as a complex, conflicted individual. As a result, the view I often give him is rather sympathetic. Innocence seems to be the only story that really stands behind all the others, and it might be helpful to read that one if you are confused about some of the backstory mentioned in the others. One other original idea of mine that would be helpful to note is that in my stories, Gandalf and Sauron are brothers, with Gandalf (Olórin) being the elder.
