My work has often been called "real" and over the past few years I have come to agree with my statement. Life has great highs and crushing lows. My fics are heavy on the lows, but interspersed with the highs.
If you are ever expecting a happy ending with my work, you will be disappointed almost every time. Please read my tags and trigger warnings CAREFULLY. I don't tag major character death with the Ao3 warnings, for instance, but I do tag "death." If any of my tags might trigger you, it's probably safer just to look for another one of my fics to read.
