Bio

Had I known about fandom before 1999, I might never have become a novelist – I would have been having too much fun to get any books written. And if only internet fandom had come along a few decades earlier, my six year-old self could have been downloading stories in which T.H.R.U.S.H. were mean to Illya and Napoleon minded (a lot!). Back then, I had no idea that what I was craving was good old hurt/comfort, and that it had a name, and lots of other people who liked it, too.

Not knowing about fandom, I did become a novelist. I won a place on an Arvon Foundation course at Totleigh Barton in Devon, in 1987, and my first book, 'Jordan', was published by Peter Owen in 1989, when I was twenty-three. I did a Masters Degree at B.C.H.E. in 1993-1994 and then spent five years writing novels.

1999 was the year I discovered Stargate SG-1 and fandom and suddenly, I was amongst other likeminded fans – people who also liked the touchy-feely bits in TV shows and were very kind to the fandom newbie. Since then, I have since written fanfiction in many fandoms, some of it extremely self-indulgent, and hope to be doing so for many years to come.

I still write novels. I have two fantasy series I'm currently consumed by: A heroic fantasy series, called The Charndras, and an urban fantasy series, The Wereward Chronicles. Books one, two, and three of The Charndras are all coming out as ebooks this year, and books four and five of that series, will hopefully not take quite as long to write as the first three did. Book one of The Wereward Chronicles, The Midnight Kind, is due out in November. I'm still published by Solidus Press.

I'm trying to post everything complete that I have on my laptop in the fanfiction line to this archive in the hope that it will spur me into finishing my unfinished fic.
