Bio
I was first hooked by Star Wars at about 10 years old, when there were only ever three movies. (And I was a Han/Leia shipper ever since.) Over time, my love for Star Wars was relegated to a back burner. But in recent years, I’ve come to realize it’s these sorts of love that are sustaining and bring joy. So I’ve begun to reclaim my inner fan girl. Including writing fan fic. (Who knew!?)
As far as I’m concerned, whatever George himself came up with or officially approved is true Star Wars; everything else is fan fiction. His story, his say. (Even if I will forever wish the original theatrical versions were made available in some format.) So, even if some fanfics have multi-million dollar budgets, film crews, the physical presence of the original actors, and are even made by people claiming to be fans: yes, those are fan fiction, too. They’re just someone else’s headcanon—not George’s—and they’re all just creative expressions. I may disagree with some, and may be outright horrified by some. But it’s all good. The universe of creativity is infinite. To each their own.
My headcanon will always honor those last scenes in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, where everyone’s gathered around in honor of victories achieved. THAT’s Star Wars to me. Where you stick to your principles and are willing to fight for them, where you don’t run and hide, where you’re willing to push yourself and work hard for what’s right, and where you’re even willing to forego your own happiness in order for those you love to be happy. That is, where you do pretty much everything out of love for others and a desire to do what is right and good. (And where Han and Leia remain together, and Han, Leia, Luke, and even Chewie, Lando, and the droids, are best friends forever.)
