“No rooms to rent around here, Joon-Gi.” Ryuji waved his hand dismissively at Han. The larger man was already laying down on a bench a few minutes from the town center where they had just wasted the whole day on some strongman competition Ryuji couldn’t resist. Even after he had won, the festivities had gone long into the night. Fireworks and drink and food had kept them from continuing on their tour of Japan.
Han had pretended to be annoyed but in truth, it had been fun. Maybe he didn’t mind being dragged around as Ryuji’s personal ticket holder if it meant he could watch the other man use his body grappling with the other men. It was foolish to forget his mission, his duties, but within the small confines of this town, and the more time he spent with Ryuji, he felt himself giving into foolishness more and more.

Nanba and Zhao were both lying on the floor of the room above Survive, high as hell. It had started the other day with Nanba talking about dropping mushrooms (by accident, of course) and Zhao and him got on the topic of drugs. Nanba had been surprisingly elated to hear that Zhao had some quick and easy access to weed. Curious at Nanba’s experience with it, Zhao had offered to bring some over so the two of them could get high and have some fun. They hadn’t done all that much so far; Zhao had made some food, they hung around for a while, and somehow had ended up laying down on one of the futons in an attempt to watch TV.

The old man’s voice was casual, as if he were asking Avdol to pick up his mail for him while he’s on vacation.
“Well, you’re staying with Polnareff for a while, right? The French countryside is the perfect place to keep a child for a while. Besides, you’re both stand users from birth, so I’m sure you’ll be able to understand her better than any old foster parents would. It’ll just be for a few months at the most, until the Foundation can find stand users who are also looking to adopt.”
Polnareff walked through the kitchen, carrying a basket piled high with laundry. “What does that old bastard want?”
Avdol lowered the phone and covered the receiver. Joseph was still talking, undoubtedly more arguments as to why he and Polnareff were the perfect people to stash this stand baby with. “He wants us to take care of an orphan baby stand user he found in Japan.”
Polnareff dropped the basket.
