David Bowie (considering I watched the Labyrinth b/c he was in it). Cats. Curb Your Enthusiasm (anything Larry David, really). Really twisted psychological thrillers like Gone Girl, Sharp Objects, Girl on the Train, Night Film...or smart, fluffy romance novels with witty dialogue and heroines with personalities like The Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas.
I am addicted to Labyrinth fanfiction--love a good dark Jareth fic (as long as it's written well)--but I have so, SO many pet peeves when it comes to fanfics.
My idea of romance is twisted--something isn't romantic if it's easy or routine. Romance should be varied, uncertain even. I think the most romantic movie in the world is Conversations with Other Women--it's about a divorced couple who meet at a wedding (they're both with other people), and get together for one night. 500 days of Summer's super romantic too. It's interesting that both movies do not have a 'happily ever after.'
