  Non-shippy fics lean heavily into the philosophical/ psychological/ theological themes of the game.

  Shippy fics are Clive/Ultima or 'Dark Warfield', defined as Clive/Jill/Ultima or Mythos/Jill. These still contain a dose of philosophical or psychological interrogation, as I don't do PwP. They just likely conclude with or contain some instance of the characters getting horny about it.
