Bio

Hello all, I’m Retsuko Sato, a passionate Firebender and fiercely loyal to Princess Azula.

I lost my eyesight at 20, and after the passing of my mother in 2023, I found solace in writing. My mother was my guide through the hard times. She would always tell me that I still have my strong mind and talent for putting words on a page, encouraging me to share that talent with the world. That is why—this profile is a tribute to her memory.

Born with autism, and now navigating life without sight, storytelling has become my most powerful form of self-expression, allowing me to connect deeply with the world and people around me. My works focus exclusively on Avatar: The Last Airbender, a show that has shaped my journey. I can still vividly recall every frame of the episodes from the original series that I watched with my family as a kid, and the first time I watched Legend of Korra was using descriptive audio.

Avatar was one of those rare series that could be put on the TV, and bring every member of the family together. It’s hard to imagine that—as an adult—I would still be deeply immersed in its lore and characters. I’m excited to share the stories and concepts for this world that have been buzzing around in my head for years. I hope my readers enjoy them.
