Bio
I grew up in Southampton, but now live in a hamlet in Somerset, next to a field of llamas and a wood full of bats and tawny owls. In 2015, I met PDB11 online. In the time between our first encounter, and getting married eighteen months later, our relationship mainly consisted of travelling to visit each other every couple of weeks, at which time we lent each other books, and emailing each other in between, in which time we sent links to our favourite websites. PDB11 introduced me to, amongst others, the Vorkosigan Saga, Georgette Heyer, Darths & Droids, and Freefall, as well as Drachenreiter, which he already knew in German. We found an English translation while on our honeymoon, and read it together, after which I brushed up my very rusty German in order to read Cornelia Funke in the original.
I’ve been telling myself stories and chatting to imaginary friends since I was three years old, which may be part of the reason I didn’t make many friends at school. As an adult, I try to be a bit more sociable, but I still enjoy having imaginary conversations with fictional characters – or, better still, introducing characters from different stories to each other. And then having to mediate rows between them: 'Look, Konstantine, it's no good getting upset - Lord Vorfalstaff insults all his friends like that, just as a joke. It wouldn't occur to him that you actually WERE the son of a whore, and it certainly wouldn't occur to him that you'd be ashamed of it if you were. Well, because he wouldn't be, because he's not the sort of person who's ashamed of anything, ever. Look, Severus and Anakin are over there - why not just go and chat to them, instead?'
I write original fiction on FictionPress and I have a blog.
