About Me:

I've been writing off and on for more than 15 years. I will fully admit that I kinda suck at making grammatical errors (the embarrassing easy to fix kinds) and I also have the cardinal sin of starting to write something and then dropping it and starting a new story. (Upon the Rising Storm and Valor of the Suns readers don't hate me too much)

I like fanfiction, because if you think about it, a lot of fiction is fanfiction. We all just make up a lot of words to make it sound like it's not. Every film remade, every reboot, someone thought "Hey, let's take this and that, add some of my ideas, make up a bunch of stuff and tell a story that sounds like theirs and they won't notice." And if they do, they just say "It's a tribute." (and let's make some money off it while we're at it.)

I mean, what else would you call what Disney and JJ Abrams did with the last Star Wars trilogy? That was pure fanfic...

But you know what, that's okay. Because as much junk can be created, the process can also produce remarkable stories. How many kids reading stories by Stan Lee or Jack Kirby would be inspired by those comics to eventually create their own stories? A few would go on to become their own comic writers...Writing for the very comics Lee and Kirby created. And as much as these grown-up kids would bring their ideas to the story...its still fanfiction.

In the book "The Seven Basic Plots", Christopher Booker states that there are only seven original stories making up the foundation of all other stories. Which means every story every written is just a rip off of another, and just a bit of fanfiction...
