Bio
I lurked in fandom for years before registering for an account, and I've frequently come across writers who have a long history of stories under their belt before the updates dropped off a cliff usually a few years before I stumbled across their profile. More than the cliffhangers that they left unresolved, I'm curious about what happened to the writer that they left fandom. Sometimes there's a dusty apology for the lack of updates, but promises that they'll get back to it soon. More often there's nothing.
Stephen King once described writing as time travel. The writer puts down a message from the past and it travels to the reader wherever they are in the future. We're all doing this because we enjoy it, so we're free to come and go as we please, but after I've read a writer's words, I can't help wondering where their path led them.
If I may be so arrogant as to think you care, I'm here to provide an answer for myself, so that if you've come across this profile and I haven't posted a new story in a while, here are the possible reasons I foresee as to why:
-I'm still writing it. Writing takes time and I generally only start posting multichapter fics after I've finished the whole thing
-I've drifted away from fandom. I have a pattern of getting into fandom because of a particular series and then exiting when my interest wanes. But I may be back in a year or two when something great grabs my attention and I just need more of it
-Real life intrudes, I've moved on, and unfortunately writing doesn't interest me as much as it used to, which is what fills me with fear and melancholy because what I care about today may not be what I care about tomorrow
