I have two settings: depressing, angsty fic with these weirdly deep themes that aren't explored properly or fluffy rom-com style fic that doesn't quite have the right execution. Both of these settings come only in weirdly long one-shot form. Also, they almost always feature characters with terrible coping mechanisms, usually alcohol or cigarettes or both. Another thing to note is that my characters generally have interesting parental relationships that they are slightly angsty about. I've recently noticed that I like to write characters who try to sabotage their own relationships before they even get off the ground.
