  Summary

  My name is Steven Rude.

  Eight years ago, a failed terrorist attack on a mako reactor outside of the city of Midgar in a neighboring state left me clinging to my life from extreme mako poisoning. I was there to stop AVALANCHE but, more importantly, to save her. She told me that she could stop the attack, that she could put an end to it. I begged her not to as it was too dangerous. She ended up saving my life, dragging me to safety while her cohorts escaped, leaving Shinra to decide her fate. The government decided to make an example out of her, sent her to a desert prison hell. I promised myself I would get her out, no matter the cost.

  That's when Tseng came to me with a proposition. All I had to do was retrieve a government scientist that ran off with something dangerous and his "employers"--his true masters, not the Shinra administration--would grant my wish. Then he upped the ante. My sister had been missing thirteen years now. Tseng said they knew her secret and why she left. He showed me her heart locket.

  I couldn't say "No" even if I wanted to.
