Bio
As of May 28, 2023, I've decided to hide my fics in response to several ongoing conversations about how the OTW conducts itself. They include:
- AO3’s decision to validate AI-generated works, in the same post they acknowledge that process is dependent on theft
- AO3 as a facet of fandom’s racism; and as an active perpetrator
- The harm AO3’s mismanagement inflicts on its own volunteers, especially in regards to its handling of CSEM
Racism in fandom has greatly, repeatedly affected me. This is probably a futile gesture, but, honestly, I'm not sure what more I can say. So goes the whole system: feeling unheard, being unheard, losing your voice between the pain and self-doubt, it being lost when the time comes to speak again. I hope this in some way captures the simultaneous feeling of invisibility and passive benefit from my contributions that comes with being a fan of color.
It's also become undeniable that my experience with racism is not the first and last weak point; it's just one grotesque symptom among many. While AO3 is not the end-all, be-all battle field of fandom ideology, its role shouldn't be underplayed or dismissed.
If a hidden work was gifted to you through an exchange, please feel free to reach out on my dreamwidth account or through the event's mods and I'll happily send you a copy. I'm working on mirroring all my works there, but I don't see it being a particularly speedy process.
