"Awwwww," Yosano cooed as Atsushi fumbled with his tie. "Little Atsu's got a daaaaaaate." She flicked her wand, cleaning up a small stain on Atsushi's white suit. "It looks wonderful on you."
Atsushi grinned, trying to hide the nervous energy thrumming through his body.
He and Akutugawa had been dating for a while, but this would be the first time they would be doing it in public, with so many others watching.
It was nerve wracking for Atsushi because he was usually a private person but he guessed it wasn't a terrible thing, at least they could publicly announce their relationship.
A problem for Atsushi though, was that he couldn't dance to save his life and tonight was a ball, an event where dancing was almost mandatory.
Oh well, he supposed he'll deal with the problem when it came.
One could learn how to dance on the go, right?
{::::::::}
Atsushi was still trying to fix his tie as he follows Yosano and Kunikida around, nearly tripping down the stairs a couple of times as the crowd of students rushed around in preparation of the ball.
Ranpo and Poe were already chatting with each other, Ranpo holding Poe's raccoon, Poe holding Ranpoe's hat.
They're both dressed casually and Atsushi suspected they'd both be sneaking off to somewhere more private as the night progressed.
This was a wizarding school but they were teenagers.
Wild things happened.
"Atsushi." Akutugawa greeted him quietly, a small smile stretched across his lips as Atsushi made it to the bottom of the stairs without breaking his neck. "You look..." he paused, lips pressed together, eyebrows knitted together and Atsushi laughed at how hard Akutugawa was thinking.
"Cute? Handsome-Ew no, not that."
"I was going to go with something like... Ethereal," Akutugawa replied smoothly, gently slapping Atsushi's hands away from Atsushi's tie and gently adjusting it for him.
"O-Oh," Atsushi stammered, his face heating up. "You, you look really handsome," he babbled on. "That suit really suits you." Oh crap, there went his mouth, going faster than his brain.
Akutugawa smiled again, producing a silver rose out of thin air.
"Thank you." He tucked the rose into Atsushi's breast pocket.
Atsushi grinned and pulled his own rose, black tinged with white.
"HEY LOVEBIRDS! BOTH PAIRS!" Kunikida shouted. "You're gonna be late!"
Atsushi and Akutugawa jumped apart, looking around for the second pair.
Chuuya and Tachihara waltzed past them, lovey dovey smiles plastered across their faces.
Dazai snapped pictures of them, snickering when Chuuya went to kick him.
Atsushi pinned the rose onto Akutugawa's suit and took the offered arm.
"S-m-i-l-e," Dazai sang, raising the camera.
Akutugawa gave Dazai the coldest look he could muster before Atsushi nudged his arm.
"Come on," Atsushi flattened the lapels of Akutugawa's suit. "It'll be fun!"
Akutugawa sighed, rolling his eyes and smiled.
Dazai lowered his camera.
"Aku-kun," he tutted. "Is someone torturing you?"
Akutugawa briefly wondered if the Ministry would let him off if he used the death spell on Dazai.

"I'm stuffed!" Kenji exclaimed, leaning back in his chair.
Atsushi nodded in agreement and watched as the couples started making their way towards the dance floor, Chuuya's bright red, sparkling suit standing out among the duller ones, topped with a hat that would not doubt burn if Dazai ever got his hands on it.
"Time to dance!" Yosano yelled from the stage, mike in hand.
"Come on," Akutugawa murmured, holding out a hand to Atsushi and that was when Atsushi panicked..
"I uh... Don't know how to dance," he admitted and for Akutugawa's face split into a wide grin, Akutugawa bending over to laugh. Dazai snapped around, eyes wide open.
"Atsu-kun, you broke him!"
"Oh shut up," Akutugawa sobered up quickly. "I'm not broken and the only thing that has ever broken me was seeing you, skinny dipping at 3 a.m. in the morning, wearing as much as you were wearing the day you were born." Which summed up to nothing.
Atsushi shivered at even entertaining the thought and grabbed Akutugawa's hand, yanking him towards the dance floor.
"So, can you teach me?" Atsushi asked hopefully as they reached the dance floor, inserting them into an empty spot. "How to dance?"
Akutugawa snorted.
"I have two left feet, neither of us are dancing tonight."
"So... What do we do then?" Atsushi asked awkwardly, wrapping his arms around Akutugawa while Akutugawa placed his hands on Atsushi's hips.
Akutugawa let out a long sigh. "We do that typical move we see in movies. Sway like idiots," he answered, sounding somewhat pained.
Atsushi laughed, following Akutugawa's lead.
"We could try to dance," he suggested and Akutugawa shuddered.
"Rather look like idiots."
"Well," Atsushi leaned forward. "Do you know what they also do in movies?"
Akutugawa arched an eyebrow, leaning forward as well so their foreheads touched.
"Nope."
"This." As Atsushi went to kiss Akutugawa, their noses bumped together, making both of them jerk back in shock before giggling at the absurdity of it.
Atsushi leaned forward again, rolling onto his tippity toes and pressed a chaste kiss against Akutugawa's lips.
Akutugawa blushed fiercely, burying his head into Atsushi's shoulder while others awwwwd, clapping. Dazai grabbed the polaroid that slid out of camera, shaking it as he watched.
Akutugawa remained silent for a minute or two before his muscles tensed.
That was all the warning Atsushi got before his world spun, Akutugawa dipping him while sealing their lips together.
The crowd exploded and Akutugawa pulled Atsushi up, a satisfied smirk gracing his lips.
"AND COUPLE OF THE YEAR GOES TO ATSUSHI AND AKUTUGAWA!" Yosano shouted, somehow sounding over the racket.
Atsushi squeaked, steadying himself on Akutugawa's shoulders.
"Oh my god," he breathed, ecstatic. "That was..."
"We are never doing that again," Akutugawa deadpanned.
Atsushi simply grinned and pulled Akutugawa in for another kiss.
