Work Text:

Note: Hoseok's Tattoo is on the center of his back and reaches just below his shoulders.

Hoseok was always careful. He had to be. He never wore shirts that were too revealing or even refused to take one off no matter how hot it was. The others simply thought it was Hoseok just being shy but in reality, he just didn’t want any more people finding out about what he’d been hiding this whole time. It’s not like he doesn’t specifically want them to know, it’s more that he would rather keep something this personal to as little people as possible. He figured a few times, he should probably tell them but he could never get the words out.

Hoseok stood in front of the bathroom mirror and sighed. He turned his back to the mirror and stared at his tattoo with a small smile. He ran his fingers through it and figured it’d be harder to hide this from the others at the rate he’s going. He could feel himself slowly slipping and giving in.

“Hoseok-hyung! Hurry up,” Taehyung whined as he knocked on the door. “You’re taking forever,” he continued and Hoseok could easily picture him pressing his cheek against the door, a pout on his face. Hoseok quickly put on his shirt and boxers before he yanked the door open. As predicted, Taehyung fell forward, straight into his arms. Hoseok grinned at his dongsaeng and when Taehyung looked up at him with a glare, the older only smiled.

“Ahh, my lovely dongsaeng,” he said. “You have to learn to be patient.”

“What are you two doing?” Jimin said, as he stared at the pair, confusion evident in his face. Taehyung continued to glare at the older and Hoseok leaned down and stroked his hair.

“Let me go,” the younger whined and Hoseok complied but not before pinching his cheek. He walked out of the bathroom and patted Jimin's head before he collapsed on his bed.

“Shouldn’t you be getting ready for practice?”

“Five more minutes,” Hoseok whined as he buried his head in his pillow.

“If Seokjin walks in here, he’s going to pick you up and carry you to the car,” Jimin said with an amused smile before he sat next to him. Hoseok shrugged and happily sighed when he felt Jimin’s hands on his back. “C’mon, hyung.”

“Please,” the other whined and Jimin rolled his eyes before he continued to massage him. A few minutes later and the main dancer had fallen asleep. Jimin opted to go outside and grab something to eat before he attempted to wake up his hyung.

A few more minutes passed before Hoseok woke up to an empty room. He heard the shower going from the bathroom and checked his phone. He’d slept for nearly 15 minutes. He sighed and figured Jimin left for practice ahead. Half asleep, he moved to remove his clothes and put on a more ‘practice-worthy’ and fashionable outfit. He threw on a pair of black jogging pants and stretched his arms as he went through his shirts. A few seconds later and the door opened.

“Hyung! I brought food so-“ Jimin stopped himself and the door closed behind him. Hoseok still had his back towards him, in the middle of deciding what to wear.

“Thanks, Jiminie,” he muttered sleepily as he pulled out one of his many black shirts. He turned around and came face to face with a wide eyed dongsaeng and a container of food, he assumed Seokjin made, in hand. “What is it?” he said with a raised eyebrow.

“Your back,” he said and Hoseok froze.

“Oh shit,” the other said as he quickly put on the shirt.

“Uhm-was that-is that?”

“Don’t worry about it, Jiminie.”

“Hyung, that was definitely a tattoo,” the younger of the two said as he took a step towards him, awe struck. Hoseok shushed him before he pointed towards the bathroom where Tae still seemed to be showering. “Is that real?” he said as he kept his gaze on Hoseok’s back. “Does-“

“Yes, the company knows,” he said awkwardly as he scratched the back of his head.

“Why didn’t you tell us?”

“I figured you guys didn’t need to know. I didn’t want to get careless,” he mumbled and sighed. He crossed his fingers. “Look, don’t tell the others just yet okay? I’ll do it in my own time.”

“I mean, okay but I still don’t get why you would hide it from us,” he said as he continued to stare.

“Okay, stop that,” Hoseok scolded. “I’ll tell you when I’m ready along with everyone else.”

“Can I see it again?” he asked as he took a few steps forward. Hoseok moved back and narrowed his eyes.

“Nope,” he said and Jimin pouted.

“I didn't get a good look at it,” the younger whined and Hoseok rolled his eyes as he continued to refuse. A few more minutes of pestering later, Taehyung opened the door to find Jimin grabbing onto Hoseok’s shirt from behind while Hoseok was attempting to push him away.

“What are we playing?” Taehyung said and Hoseok managed to escape when Jimin loosened his grip in embarrassment.

A short car ride, which included Jimin shooting glances at Hoseok’s back whenever the opportunity presented itself later, they arrived at the BigHit building.

Hoseok had a knee length hoodie on as they all entered the practice room and he couldn’t stop meeting Jimin’s eyes.

“Jiminie, stop that,” Hoseok whispered once they took a break.

“I can’t help it,” he mumbled as he looked down, cheeks flushed, “I just want to see it again.”

“Why?” he said, curious but slightly irritated.

“I just-I like tattoos,” he mumbled and before Hoseok could question him further, he stood up to talk to the others. Hoseok furrowed his brows in confusion and sighed.

“Can I say something?” he said loudly and silence filled the room. Jimin widened his eyes as he watched Hoseok take off his hoodie. “I’ve been meaning to tell you guys for a while but things happened and I’ve just been holding out on you,” he sighed, “Jimin here caught me so I figure I might as well tell the rest of you guys now too.” Hoseok said before he slowly removed his shirt and threw it off to the side. Jimin stared with anticipation and everyone raised their eyebrows.

“You have abs?” Namjoon said, slightly confused but then Hoseok rolled his eyes and turned around. The dancer heard a couple gasp, he assumed Jungkook and Taehyung, and then suddenly everyone walked up to him.

“Is that real?!” Taehyung said excitedly and Hoseok responded with a yes. “Can I touch it?” he asked and the other simply shrugged.

“Go ahead,” he muttered but before Taehyung could reach out his arm, Jimin caught it mid way and before anyone could react, the door opened and Hoseok knelt down and turned around to hide but the others stood in front of him anyway. A sigh of relief escaped Hoseok when he noticed it was just their dance teacher.

“What? He knew?” Taehyung questioned when Hoseok just stood up.

“The company knows,” Jimin muttered with a slight pout as he crossed his arms. The others stared at their dancer with confused looks and the latter could only sigh.

“I didn’t really know how to tell you?” he said awkwardly. “It’s kinda personal,” he added as he let his hand caress his own shoulder. “I mean, it’s pretty obvious I got is because of dancing but I’ll probably explain it more when I’m ready.”

“Okay, come on, break time’s over,” their teacher called out but it seemed as though everyone was slightly distracted by Hoseok’s now exposed back as they danced. For the first time, they could witness how each muscle of his body moved and the fact his tattoo was hard to keep their eyes off only made it worse. “Hoseok, put your shirt back on. Everyone’s too distracted,” he said with a frustrated look and Hoseok laughed when he noticed everyone’s eyes on him but turning away when he noticed.

Questions were thrown around in the van as they headed back home.

“Did it hurt?”

“Do you have any other ones?”

“When did you get it?”

Hoseok answered every single one except why he specifically decided to get one and he was thankful the others respected that. When they arrived at the dorms, however, Jimin continued to ask if he could see it again.

“Fine,” the older said as he finally removed his shirt, dropped it and turned around. Jimin bit his lip as he walked forward and let his palm rest on his back. Hoseok shivered at the sudden contact but relaxed when Jimin slowly let his fingers trace the tattoo, as if he was making out every detail. “That feels kinda nice,” Hoseok admitted as Jimin continued to trace the pattern.

“It’s really beautiful,” Jimin whispered and Hoseok thanked him but let out a gasp when Jimin let his free hand rest on his waist.

“Your hands are so cold, Jiminie,” Hoseok said before he turned around to meet the other’s eyes. Jimin eyes were wide and his cheeks turned pink. “You okay?” he asked when he fully turned around. Jimin’s hands hovered awkwardly in the air at the sudden loss of contact.

“I just- I’m-“ he started but he kept fumbling his words and ended up staring down at the ground.

“Man, you must really like tattoos,” Hoseok said as he took hold of Jimin’s hands and pulled them around himself so they were flat on his back. “It’s okay, you know,” he added when he let his own hands rest on the back of Jimin’s neck. Jimin met his gaze and he bit his lip at the way Hoseok was smiling at him.

“It suits you,” Jimin mumbled as his gaze drifted to Hoseok’s lips and back up to his eyes.

“Really?” he asked before he felt Jimin’s fingers digging into his back.

“Hyung!” a voice called as the door opened and Jimin had never moved away so fast in his life. He found himself on his bed, eyes wide as he stared up at the ceiling. Hoseok was left in a state of surprise and had to compose himself before he responded.

“What?”

“Jin hyung needs help in the kitchen,” Jungkook said before he walked off, the door wide open. Hoseok opted to grab whatever shirt was closest to him and put it on as he rushed outside. Jimin didn’t even bother to watch him leave and tried to calm himself down.

‘What the fuck just happened?’ he asked himself before he ran a hand through his hair. Taehyung walked in a few minutes later and stared at his friend in question.

“Yah, it’s time to eat,” Taehyung said, “And why haven’t you showered yet? Hoseok-hyung said you called first dibs,” he added and Jimin nearly flinched at the mention of the other’s name.

“I was too tired,” he said, before he stood up and refused to meet the other’s eyes as he headed outside. He walked into the kitchen to find that Hoseok alone, who had of course ended up picking up a tank top to put on, not just that, it was Jimin’s tank top. “That’s mine,” he let out before he could stop himself and regretted because Hoseok suddenly met his eyes and grinned.

“Want me to take it off then?”

“Yes,” he said far too quickly and they seemed to be caught up in their own world because Taehyung walked into him from behind.

“Yah, what are you doing?” he said as he pushed Jimin forward a bit too roughly but luckily (unluckily?) Hoseok caught his arms so he could stable himself. They didn’t break eye contact and Jimin could feel his heart race when he noticed Hoseok’s gaze drift from his lips back to his eyes.

It’s like every single part of Jimin’s body was suddenly aware of how attractive Hoseok was and it was all because of that damn tattoo. He’s pretty sure Hoseok was aware of that fact too if the rest of the night was anything to go on.

“You two are acting weird,” Yoongi said when he noticed Jimin was washing the dishes with Hoseok standing incredibly close to his back.

“I’m just teasing him, hyung,” Hoseok admitted and the younger shivered at the feeling of Hoseok’s breath against his neck. Yoongi just rolled his eyes and walked off. It would probably be a good time to realise that the others had no qualms about the fact they were dancing around each other all night because this is how they normally act with each other but that was another issue to talk about for another day.

“Okay, stop,” Jimin said when they walked into their shared room, Hoseok behind him.

“You’re the one can’t stop staring at my tattoo,” Hoseok said in defense and Jimin took a deep breath before he turned around before he took a step towards his hyung and lightly pushed him against the door.

“Just shut up already,” the other responded as he locked sid door and Hoseok smirked at the action. He tugged on Jimin’s shirt and pulled him into a kiss. Jimin let his hands travel to Hoseok’s back and he dug his fingers into the shirt.

“What do you think they’re doing?” Taehyung asked, annoyed at the fact they weren’t getting a response from the pair in their room. He was irritated to find their door had been locked and neither of his roommates were responding to his calls or knocks on the door.

“Do you think we should just use the keys?” Jungkook asked and Namjoon was very adamant that Taehyung just hang out in their room for the night. The younger just shrugged his shoulders and complied.

All was revealed however when the pair walked out a few hours later, hair disheveled, lips red and swollen and Seokjin was pretty sure those red marks on Hoseok’s back were not a part of his tattoo.

“Oops,” was all Jimin could say before Hoseok smacked the back of his head.

End.

Notes:

I came up with this idea a while ago and figured I should write it already ahaha. It’s a bit of a mess but hopefully, you enjoyed reading it anyway! I tend not to proof read too well because I’m lazy and I get too excited about posting it but yeah. Thank you!
