Chapter 1: After All Was Well

Chapter Text

After All was Well

Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were pleased to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.

Mr Vernon Dursley, now in his fifties, and more often known as Dursley Sr in the neighbourhood, was the proud and beefy owner of the drilling company Grunnings. He owned the house with his wife, horse-faced Petunia Evans-Dursley, his seriously overweight and overprotected twenty-six-year-old son Dudley, mostly known as Dursley Jr or Dud by his peers, and Dursley Sr’s most fascinating daughter-in-law, an orphan girl by the name of Pepita Minthe, who met her husband, five years older than herself, at work, married and became pregnant almost instantly.

Dursley Sr and his wife Petunia very much disliked their daughter-in-law, not only because of the instant marriage between the girl and their beloved Diddikins, but also because her appearance often reminded them of their not-so-normal relations who had caused them loads of trouble around ten years ago. The thought of their presence still haunted old Mr and Mrs Dursley – the thought of Petunia’s sister Lily, Lily’s husband James, their son Harry, Harry’s godfather, Harry’s wife Ginny, and their sons James II and Albus, all of whom did not belong to their world (or so they thought, despite having lived with Harry for ten years and still having regular, though seldom, visits from them) but the wizarding world – and Pepita’s fiery ginger mane and twinkling emerald eyes served as a reminder to them for the late Lily Evans and the witch’s daughter-in-law Ginny Weasley (also a witch, of course, and one of the greatest athletes in the wizarding world too), bearing the uncanny resemblance to them, especially when Ginny and Pepita were both pregnant then, and were both carrying daughters.
