Day 3: Holding hands

The weather outside wasn't beautiful.

To be honest, it was awful.

It was raining, there was a thunderstorm coming up, some lightnings lightened up the dark grey sky far away. Thunder was breaking through the silence of the fields.

The leaves of the trees and bushes were waving in the strong wind.

And it was damn cold. The coldness of the air was sending goosebumps all over Vanitas body. He was shivering like hell.

„Vanitas... why did we even go on this walk? We both saw this coming. So... why?“

„I don't know, Noé“, he murmured, then his teeth began chattering.

There were different kinds of cold.

There was bone-chilling cold, the cold of which your fingers start hurting and you can't feel anything anymore. It was the cold were you usually walked through the snow, every step making a sound like ice was breaking because well, the snow wasn't snow anymore, it just became ice over night.

Then there was gentle cold, just a soft breeze ruffling your hair, gently reminding you of how winter will come soon, leaves that are falling down, grass that is slowly turning to a brownish yellow instead of green.

And then there was this awful cold, which made you shiver all over, thick rain drops falling into you face, onto your hair and shoulders, soaking your clothes and body to the deepest core.
Sometimes there maybe was a snowflake, being hit by the rain and melting away, mixing with the water.

And it was this cold.

Vanitas was still shivering hopelessly.

„Or ok, maybe because I'm insane, and well, I made you insane too?“ Vanitas knew that this really was the reason.

Well, he couldn't think of another one.

„You really are insane, I'm not! I want to go back now!“

„Noé, err... if we went back we'd go through a forest. Trees and lightning... it's a little bit dangerous, don't you think?“

Noé didn't answer he just grumbled and stood there, his white hair clutching onto his face.

And suddenly, Vanitas realized that Noé was beautiful. Even with soaked hair, wet clothes and an annoyed expressions on the handsome features of his face.

„Give me your hand“, Vanitas said, a little embarassed but he didn't care.

„Huh?“, was the only answer he received.

„Yes, feeling the hand of another person makes you feel warmer, believe me. We have to wait till the storm is over and if you don't want to die, just do it!“

Vanitas reached out his hand in the direction of the other man.

Noé took it, a very confused look in those crimson red eyes. His hand was warm, the black-haired realized. Warmer than his, at least. In a weather like this it just... it couldn't be called warm at all.

His fingers were wrapping around the back of his hand and Vanitas heart stopped beating for a moment.

Hell, what was this feeling?

„It's... kind of strange“, Noé stated and Vanitas again was fascinated by this man. No normal human or vampire would have said anything like that, because they'd all say it's immoral to say something like this. And yeah, it really was but he didn't care.

Anyways, he didn't answer. He didn't want to disturb that moment.

Noés hand was kind of rough, the skin thick and his hand just was so manly, unlike Vanitas own small hand.

They were silent for a while. Vanitas couldn't tell how long, he didn't bring his pocket watch with him this time because they took a day off and so he didn't need one. Maybe ten minutes, or twenty.

Sometimes their eyes met but they quickly looked away. Both didn't really know why, it was just kind of embarrassing and awkward, standing there, hand in hand.

„Noé?“

„Yes?“

Why did he even want to ask this? He tried to push away the heat in his chest and failed.

„Would it be ok if I kissed you? I mean... I... wouldn't do it... it's... just a question, and...“ He even stuttered in the end.

The grab on his hand tightened suddenly.

„I... don't know. I only... kissed Domi once... when we were children... we were playing prince and princess, you know... so I... I don't even remember how this feels and...“

Vanitas didn't even want to know how red his face was.

Again, they said nothing, the storm was almost over, but none of them wanted to move or let go.

„We could try.“ The whisper was so soft-spoken that Vanitas could barely hear it.

And then, he still didn't understand it.

„You mean...? Kissing...?“ Breathing was harder, he felt the blush slowly building on his face.

„Y-yes...?“ Now Noé also sounded unsure.

It was obvious that they both wanted it, but well, they didn't and stayed silent now again.

This whole situation was a mess.

„We... should go home now... right?“ It even stopped raining. They really should, Noé was right.

Vanitas practically clutched onto Noés hand, he was shivering, but this time not because of the cold.

„Noé... could you maybe... look at me...?“ Vanitas hand already reached for Noés neck, trembling.

Noé turned around to him, Vanitas felt fingers on his back, they were only slightly touching him, very carefully.

„So... is it ok?“ The humans voice was also low.

„Yes...“ Noé began smiling and leaning down.

Their lips met, only for a second, unsure if it really was ok or not and Vanitas got goosebumps again.

„Now it's warm“, Noé mentioned and kissed the other one once again.

Noé was very unsure, careful, Vanitas realized. He knew that the vampire hadn't had any experience and he was damn cute because of this.

When they broke apart, Vanitas chuckled quietly.

„Would it also be ok for you if we do this more often...?“
