Work Text:
It was one of those chaotic weeks at RS International, five companies have planned to score up an investment deal and Rachel Yoo, the heiress and vice president of the company has been left in charge as her mother is off on a business trip, for a different business deal. Her schedule was piled up for the day which explained why she was always working in a hectic way, not even bothering to touch the coffee that her secretary has made for her.
Everything was running smoothly in her work flow until the secretary came up via intercom...
"Vice President Yoo, someone is here to see you." the secretary spoke on the intercom
"Is it one of the investors I'm supposed to be expecting today?" Rachel asked, holding down the button of her intercom console so that she could state her message
"No. It's a man named Lee Hyo Shin. He says that he was your classmate from High School."
Lee Hyo Shin
That name sounded familiar to her. In fact, very familiar. He's the son of the attorney general back then...no...not just that. An aspiring film-maker who has won awards for his short films back in his high school days. More than that actually. The person had somewhat, a huge significance on her. Not like her ex-fiance, Kim Tan. A bit lesser than that but still.
It was Lee Bo Na and Yoon Chan Young's getting-back-together party. Right after Cha Eun Sang had revealed about her true identity, right after Kim Tan shared a kiss with her right after the revelation. She did it as a show of pride, to show Kim Tan that she knew how to play the cards too. When out of whim, she decided to kiss Lee Hyo Shin, who also ended up kissing her back. It was a shocking event for everyone inside the room. Shocking enough to leave Lee Bo Na, who has been pouring all her efforts to make the party a success, in a state where she could already flip tables if only society did not dictate for upper class people to misbehave like that in public.
Then after that, a call they made as they crossed paths at the hallway. Then there was the time she had a strong headache and she had to stay at the clinic and she received a message from Hyo Shin who was just in the bed beside hers. Lastly, there was the time when they met at the psychiatrist's waiting room where he told her that he was going to enlist for the army. Since then, she hasn't heard much of him. Not until today.
A whirlwind romance or a fling would be the appropriate way to call that but as Rachel reminisced, it was probably more than that. Like there was a connection that existed between them, one that only activated when she made that daring move.
She did not let her feelings fool her. Not even this time.
But a part of her wants to see him. To see how he is already like since ten years ago when they last saw each other.
Without any second thought, she pressed the intercom's call button and told the secretary to let the visitor in.
"Lee Hyo Shin." Rachel said in her usual sophisticated tone, "It's been ten years."
"Ten years and a lot has changed. Especially on you." Hyo Shin told Rachel, "You've gotten prettier, that's for one thing."
"A lovely compliment." Rachel said with a smirk, "From some man I ended up kissing ten years ago in a whim. Funny how we ended up crossing each other's paths."
"I'll have you know that I actually liked it." Hyo shin said with a laugh
"No wonder you ended up kissing me back." Rachel replied, laughing as well
"What brought you to my office, anyway?" Rachel asked out of curiousity. Perhaps he came there to ask for sponsorship in one of those film projects he's currently making.
"You know, to drop you a visit." Hyo Shin stated, "You see, I really missed you for the past ten years. Though I was released from military service eight years back, but it's only today when I finally had the courage to come here and see you."
"Surprising that it took you eight years to come and see me again." Rachel told him, "And a mere second to kiss me back in Lee Bo Na and Yoon Chan Young's getting-back-together party."
"Rachel Yoo, that was ten years ago!" Hyo shin protested, "We're 28 now, things are already different."
"Do you have anything else to say in mind?" Rachel asked
"Well...I also came here to ask for sponsorship." Hyo shin told her. I knew it. He came here for the sponsorship too., Rachel thought to herself
"For your recent movie project." Rachel spoke, "I know. It's all over the news. How could I not notice when I have to be updated on the entertainment industry. You know they rely on my company to keep going too."
"Yes, exactly." Hyo Shin said, finally feeling more relaxed than when he asked her for the sponsorship, "I would like you to sponsor the outfits to be used in my short film."
"Another potential investor. That makes it six." Rachel told him, refering to the fact that she still has five investors waiting in line, "Well, of course."
"Is it because of the profit, or because it is me that is asking you? Or perhaps both." Hyo Shin asked
"More of the profit side, dear." Rachel told him, "This is the business world, not Jeguk High."
"Thank you so much!" Hyo Shin spoke, hugging the Vice President out of joy, "I shall send you a ticket to the premiere night soon."
"Uh...yes...you're welcome." Rachel said a bit awkwardly, "Now, will you please get off. I still have work to do and I believe it's the same to you."
"Alright Vice President Yoo, as you wish." Hyo Shin said as he backed away, making his way to the door, "Thank you for your time, then."
"Thanks for dropping by too." Rachel spoke in a low voice as the other closed the door on his way out.
Ten years have passed since their brief encounter but there is always this spark in them. A spark that never failed to go off, even after ten years and a multitude of events have passed. They may be twenty-eight now but perhaps, there must be a reason why the spark they ignited hasn't died out yet. Maybe at some point, they are to be destined to each other. Maybe this is just one of those first signs. No one knows whether it's a work of destiny or just a plain coincidence that involved a certain Rachel Yoo and Lee Hyo Shin. The Whirlwind Star Crossed Lovers of Jeguk High, Class of 2014.
