“i’m sorry about the letter. i won’t do anything like that again. i promise,” the wind breathed through their hair and the silent world around them, “so no more farewell kisses. and no lies.”
shion nodded, then stepped closer to nezumi and pressed his lips against the other’s chapped ones in a kiss; one as soft his own heart, but filled with a resoluteness only seen in the eyes of angels.
the kiss didn’t last long, but shion’s feet stayed planted to the ground and he opened his eyes to wide blue ones searching his face, as if the heavens had opened up and dropped shion from the sky: nezumi’s own guardian angel.
after a moment’s hesitation, shion looked at a dazed nezumi curiously and he let a strangled chuckle escaped from his throat, merely an attempt to break himself from his thoughts, “and what was that one for? sympathy? you better not start pitying me now,” he said with no true bite behind his words, a soft, but sad smile finding its way to his lips.
shion hummed and tapped his finger to his lips, holding his elbow in his free hand and looking up in thought, “an atonement? or maybe a truce...” his eyes fell closed as he pondered it more, but after his moment of scrutiny, he shook his head and met nezumi’s eyes again with a warm smile, taking the other’s hand in his own, “a beginning.”
