Chapter Text

It’s one thing getting confessed to by your friend, but it’s a whole other when it’s done in the most ridiculous fucking way while being surrounded by pieces of shits Yoongi happens to call friends.

“His little fist is shaking, oh my God!”

“He looks like a kitten doused in water! Jeongguk hold me, holy fuck I can’t breathe,” Taehyung doubles over laughing, clutching Jeongguk’s arm while Jeongguk laughs harder.

“H-hyung, your face is so red! This is the most color I’ve seen you have...in years,” Jimin cackles from where he’s rolling around on the ground.

Yoongi squints his eyes as he glares harder at Jimin. If looks could kill, the poor boy would be six feet under, ten times over.

Yoongi is snapped out of his anger induced trance when he hears Jin’s stupid windshield wiper laugh from the kitchen mixing in with the maknae line’s roaring laughter. Like fucking hell. It’s one thing to get ridiculed by his childish dongsaengs but it’s a whole other to become the laughing stock of his entire group of friends.

And here’s the thing: Min Yoongi is not one to be known for being tongue tied or getting easily flustered. In fact, Jimin likes to say Min Yoongi is more like the couple of blank pages authors leave in the end of books; no one pays attention to them, they’re simply just, there.

This is all one man’s fault. Jung fucking Hoseok.

Yoongi is up and stomping over to where Jimin lies on the floor. “It’s hard to notice small objects on the ground when walking. You really should move before someone trips over you, you know, safety precautions and all that,” Yoongi sneers. He loves making fun of Jimin; it’s his go-to ego booster.

However, much to his dismay, the brown haired boy on the floor just scrunches his face up and bursts into another fit of giggles, seemingly unbothered by the jab. “Here’s another safety precaution: stop clutching that note in your hand so hard you might break the gift in there, and then Hoseok hyung will end up just killing you instead.”

The note. The goddamn note. It’s what started this entire shitstorm in the first place.

Yoongi was on his way home returning from the studio after a long day of composing tracks. Today he’d caught a wave of inspiration just this morning which meant he’d bolted out of his apartment as fast as he could (which is pretty fast considering him), and rushed to pour his ideas out in music.

As a college student, Yoongi was always trying to make use of every spare minute he had to pursue his passion of music. Luckily, Park Chanyeol had opted to cover the extra shift Yoongi had today at the campus’ bookstore.

Yoongi was just starting to put his car into reverse as he backed out of the studio’s parking lot when his phone started ringing deafeningly loud. After a minute of clumsy fumbling in the dark, Yoongi managed to fish his phone out of his pocket. Hoseok’s contact flashed across the screen and Yoongi reluctantly answered the call. Safe to say, calls from Hoseok consisted of one of two things: loud shrieking over the phone or a plea for Yoongi to give him a ride to work when he was running late.

To Yoongi’s relief there was no excited screaming on the other end of the call. But when Hoseok began speaking, Yoongi was left baffled. Hoseok had asked Yoongi to come over to Seokjin’s house for dinner because apparently he was feeling in the mood to treat his dongsaengs to home cooked food. It was all fine up until Hoseok asked, “Oh and hyung can we talk? There’s something I have to tell you.” He then abruptly ended the call.

Thoroughly confused, Yoongi began driving over to Jin’s. The apartment was off-campus but not too far from the studio. Poor Yoongi was unsuspecting and innocently curious. Hoseok had sounded so serious over the call; what could have happened to dull his usual cheeriness?

Now, a half hour later, Yoongi was red in the face and quickly had learned he was set up for a prank by his annoying friends.

Stepping over Jimin’s body, Yoongi walks down into the hallway to the guest room.

In his hand he holds the note he’d gotten just a few minutes ago. In all his haste, he’d totally forgotten today was Valentine’s Day. Considering him and his friends were all, as Tae liked to say, “Single pringles; bros before hoes”, he did not have anything planned for today. That is, until he found a note attached addressed to him at Seokjin’s.

To: Min Yoongi,

You make my body fidget,

You make my heart spin.

There are endless ways to say “I love you”

How do I even begin?

From: Jung Hoseok xxx

And attached to the stupid love note, was an honest to God, heart-shaped fidget spinner.
