Work Text:
Jimin quickly chases after Taehyung, who was heading up to the rooftop of the apartment complex. Jimin knows the boy is about to do something he’ll regret but so is Jimin.
Jimin is able to grab ahold of Taehyung’s arm feet away from the edge of the building. Taehyung struggles against the grip but finds himself unable to pull free.
“Tae, you have to move on!” Tears threaten to spill from both boys’ eyes. Jimin couldn’t afford to lose another friend. But Tae wasn’t just a friend to him.
“I can’t! I’ve already tried but it’s too hard!” The younger’s voice trembles as tears run down his face. Taehyung couldn’t live without Jungkook. He had been his everything, his life. Yet it only took one reckless driver to take him away. So why couldn’t one little jump take his own?
“If not for yourself, live for me.” Jimin grasps both Taehyung’s wrists, shaking him.
“You don’t really need me.”
“Yes, I do. I really do!” Jimin pleads, tightening his grip on the younger as if if he let go the boy would disappear. And he just might.
“Why?! Why can’t you let me go?!” Jimin looks into Taehyung’s weary, sad eyes. It was now or never.
“Because I love you. More than a friend.” Taehyung stiffens, tears still falling. The two stand in silence as Taehyung mulls over what Jimin had said. The thought of dying pushed into a corner for a moment.
Jimin watches Taehyung’s eyes, spotting that guilt had taken a spot next to sadness.
“I’m sorry Jiminie. I can’t accept your feelings. At least not now.” Jimin’s hands drop to his sides, frozen. The hurt that blossoms inside of him is nothing compared to the sadness he felt. Taehyung gives Jimin a sorrowful look before leaving him on the roof alone.
