Work Text:
It’s three o'clock in the morning and when Seokjin gets in his car to go pick you up. You’re standing outside the airport, your flight had landed thirty minutes ago. You made sure to buy Seokjin something to drink, knowing that he hand practice a few hours prior.
When he finally pulls the car up in front of you, you can’t help but to feel happy. It’s been half a year since you’ve seen your best friend in person. He steps out of the car, quickly making his way over to you to give you a tight hug. Grins spread across both of your faces and the words “I missed you”, are told to one another.
When he pulls away from you, he opens the car door for you to get in. After that, he takes your suitcase and places it in the trunk of his car. Seokjin thanks you for the caffeinated drink, he takes a sip of the drink. He hums at how good it tastes, it seemed like he really needed the drink. You feel satisfied now.
Music is played quietly in the background and you two talk amongst each other, catching up. He’s taking you to the dorm, having permission to let you stay there until you leave again. You notice how tired he looks and the way his voice is heavy with tiredness. It seems like he can barely keep his eyes open and it’s worrying you. You look away from Seokjin when he turns his head to look at you. Staring out the window, you recognize the streets that you’ve driven on many times.
When you think it’s clear, you look back over at your best friend. You notice the dark bags forming under his eyes. A yawn escapes his lips and that causes you to yawn as well. He rubs one eye with his hand, blinking both eyes to try and wake himself up a little. Looking back out the window, you notice that the street isn’t too busy and he can pull over if he needs to. You decide to take it upon yourself to drive the both of you to the dorms. It’s not safe either one of you for him to be driving in his drowsy state. You stare at the side of his head, watching the lights from the streets wash over him.
“Pull over. Let me drive for awhile.”
He glances at you, not believing you. He doesn’t say anything, he just continues driving like you didn’t say anything. “I know you heard me, don’t make me repeat myself.” Your voice is stern and he sighs, knowing you’re not playing around. “You must be tired from the flight. I’m not go-”
“Kim Seokjin.”
You smile in satisfaction as he pulls off to the side of the road, another yawn escaping his lips. The drive from where you two are to the dorm is at least an hour and a half. You honestly don’t think that he can handle that in his current state. You’d rather be safe than sorry. The two of you get out of the car and switch sides before you’re back on the road.
“Get some sleep, Jinnie. We’ve got a bit more to go.”
You look over to the passenger’s side and see him already dozing off and the two of you have just barely started the drive. You can’t help to feel content more than you did before, a soft smile appearing on your face. You focus back on the road in front of you, listening to the music playing softly, glad to be back with your best friend.
