How to Date a Dragon: A Guide by Todoroki Shouto

Summary:

Dating your first and best friend is a big enough problem as it is, but add the facts he's a newly human-turned-dragon and you are socially inept with...well, anything, then top it off with the bonus fact that he just so happens to be the sweetest creature to ever walk this earth (Barring that one time he ate your homework) and you've just named the current situation of Todoroki Shouto.

Mythical AU! Feel free to ask questions about the AU in the comments. My sister and I came up with this for roleplaying and I decided it would make great fanfic material!

Pure fluff, ten chapters total featuring domestic and school themed dragon-related problems Deku has to face in his daily life.

Chapter 1: Entry One: Dragons are Highly Kleptomaniac

Summary:

Welcome to the magical place known as Yuuei Academy for Mythical and Non-Human Creatures! Here we will follow the everyday life of two first-year students as shenanigans unfold and their bond grows ever-deeper.

First chapter featuring Deku's habitual kleptomanicism(Is that a word? It is now) and Todoroki being a supportive boyfriend.

Notes:

Midoriya originally enrolled in this school not realizing it was a school for non-human creatures. Not until he started noticing weird patterns in the way his classmates behaved, along with the bizarrely easy lessons they were taking. Eventually, when he's been nearly-exposed as a human one too many times, local dragon deity and teacher All Might takes it upon himself to train (and turn) Midoriya into a fine dragon. Given he survives the rest of the school year.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Todoroki sighed defeatedly as he sat down on his bed, opposite of Midoriya's. He stared with slight concern at the rather large heap of random household objects and a plethora of Todoroki's own personal items (That is to say, everything there was owned by Todoroki), dragging his gaze to the small green-haired dragon boy piled neatly atop the impressive display.

"Well..." Midoriya began, "It's not like I need any of this stuff? I just...I couldn't help it..." He hung his head and averted his gaze as he tried to explain himself.

"May I at least retrieve my textbooks from your..."

"Hoard." His eyes glinted with something...predatory?

"...Your hoard?" He asked, voice lilting with unsurety.

"Sure!" He smiled sweetly and moved himself off the pile, taking to lying next to it instead. Todoroki moved over to Midoriya's bed and cautiously rifled through the items, careful not to provoke the sharp-fanged creature next to him. Oh. He thought That would be where my comb went, then... The small dragon eyed him warily as he pulled out his school bag, double-checking to make sure all his textbooks were in there still. Midoriya inhaled shallowly as he pulled the bag over his shoulder and muttered a small 'thank you'.

"Y-yeah..." Midoriya felt a sudden sense of loss as his prized possession was taken from him.

"I-I mean, you don't have to thank me! I was...the one who...stole...it...in the...Oh my God, I'm so sorry Shouto." Realization struck him as he blushed and panicked and buried his face in his hands and panicked some more.

"I thought I had my habits under control, I'm so, so so-" Todoroki pulled his hand down and pressed their lips together, effectively quieting and simultaneously eliciting a small noise of surprise from his boyfriend.

"It's alright, Izuku." He smiled softly. He did have to wonder how Izuku thought this was 'under control', however. Midoriya's face flushed bright red as he waved his arms around panickedly.

"N-no it's not! I mean-thank you or-rather I-I don't think it's right for me to just take your stuff and blame it on being a dragon and..." He glanced up nervously. Todoroki tilted his head inquisitively.

"Nevermind." Midoriya grinned sheepishly. "Let's get to school." Todoroki nodded and helped his boyfriend down from the mountain that he was pretty sure was no longer classified as a bed.

"I can help you put all this stuff back when we get home, if you want."

"Ah, no, that's okay. It was my fault so I should be the one who takes care of-" He paused. "No, actually, I think it would be for the best if you did." he corrected himself.

"Izuku, I do have one question about the things you took." He handed the smaller boy his bag.

"Hmm?" Midoriya accepted the offering and attempted to straighten out his jacket from where he had been lying on it all morning.

"Why is it only my things?"

Notes:

Haha, silly Todo, that would be because he likes you. #JustDragonThings

I apologize for the atrociously short chapter! I promise the next ones will be longer! It's 2:30 A.M. and I should have been asleep hours ago but instead I'm up writing fanfiction...again.

Next chapter features a protective Deku, lots of Bakugou swears and some helpful advice from Kirishima for our very confused Todoroki.
