Work Text:

I. Acacia

Yellow petals flew out of his mouth with each cough he emitted, and gently fluttered down to his chest. The flower reminded him about her, more specifically, his true feelings for her. ‘Keep it together Hitoshi…”  He thought as he clutched his chest from the pain of the disease, coughing up more flora.

‘She doesn’t need to know about this’

“Shinsou-san! I have great news!” A [h/c] said in a cheerful tone. The boy looked at the girl with curious eyes, “What is it [L/N]?” He inquired. The girl gave him her brightest smile he saw and told him the news that made her so giddy.

“Kaminari-san accepted my feelings!! I’m so happy!!!”

Something slowly started to bloom in his chest, obstructing his airways.

“Oh, really, congratulations then [L/N]” He said, placing a pat on her back. [F/N] thanked him with a warm embrace.

‘Conceal these stupid feeling of yours, this will only make things worse’

II. Violets

It’s been a few weeks since Shinsou was informed about her new relationship. It’s been a few weeks since the illness started and it’s been progressing for the worse, He started at the violet petals he had just coughed out, laughing at what it truly meant in his situation.

‘It’s like the Gods want me to die for hiding my feelings.’

His eyes wandered to her body, and her body was close to another. A new flower started to form in his chest. “Kaminari-san, say ‘Ah’” The blond opened his mouth and what the girl had offered him. [L/N]’s significant other commented that the food tasted terrible, to which she replied with a hard smack on his shoulder. “Shinsou-san, can you try my cooking please? Prove Kaminari-san wrong for me!!” She pleaded her friend. The purple haired lad smiled and opened his mouth in compliance

‘I’ll do anything for you, even if your heart is set on someone else.’

III. Petunia

He felt the anger seep through his veins. Kaminari said such insulting things to the girl he loves, making her heart break into pieces. “Shinsou-san, do you think he meant what the said?” She asked, her tone laced with insecurity. Hitoshi looked at her with concern. “I mean, he’s not wrong about anything he told me.” She added, more tears streaming down her face.

Shinso enveloped the female in a comforting hug, wiping the droplets of water forming on her face. The two teens sat in comfortable silence, basking in each other’s heat. “He… He didn’t meant what he said to you. You know that right?” He said, his arms still around the girl. “He just----

Ring. Ring.

[F/N]’s phone chimed loudly, breaking apart the hug. She fished out her phone from her pocket and looked at the caller ID. Her eyes winded at the name and hesitantly accepted the call.

“Kaminari-san? What is it?” She asked; her voice dry and hoarse from crying.

Shinsou backed away from her form, a new flower traveling through his airway.

“It’s okay Kaminari-san, I forgive you.”

The petals flew out of his mouth as the hate rooted even deeper to his core.

  IV. Asphodel

Sadness;

Is the feeling that envelopes him every time someone other than him makes her smile, laugh, cheer her up.

He feels resentment,

When he sees the girl he loves break apart because of what He said to her.

But most of all …

“Shinsou-san? Are you alright?”

His eyes looked at the girl, her face painted with worry. He gave her a weak, unconvincing smile. “I’m fine, really. Don’t worry about me [L/N].” He said, feeling more flora forming in his lungs. The girl, unsatisfied with his response, pressed on.

“You’ve been coughing a lot recently, have you gone to the doctor yet?” She inquired. He opened his mouth, and instead of words, white petals stained blood flew out. He couldn’t stop coughing out the flora. His knees buckled and dropped to the ground with a loud thud.

“SHINSOU-SAN!”

He regrets not telling you what he really feels.

 V. Purple Hyacinth

Shinsou had been confined in the hospital for two weeks now. Each day, the condition getting worse by the minute; his eyes lost their bright shine, his mouth covered in blood from coughing up bloody petals every time he opened it. He knows he could end all of this by agreeing to the proposed surgery.

But would it be worth it; to lose his true feelings and be an empty husk?

“Shinsou-san, there’s a visitor for you.” A nurse said, moving away to reveal the root of all of his problems. The [H/C]-ette girl walked towards his bed, taking the visitor’s seat next to it.

“Shinsou-san…” [L/N] started off, her hands going on top of his. He looked at her, his orbs expressing worry for her well-being. “Why won’t you push through with the surgery? This will save you, you know that right?” She said, her tone and clutch getting more intense.

He shook his head in response, making her eyes water to his response.

“Then, le-let’s convince this person to reciprocate your feelings!” She cried out. The boy took his hands out of her grasp to wipe away her tears.

‘I can’t convince you to love me’

“Then tell me, who is this person that causes this pain for you?” She demanded. He opened his mouth with uncertainty, to at least try to tell her.

“It’s yo---

Purple petals splashed with red escaped his mouth, interrupting his statement. He looks at her as he coughs out the flora, feeling horrible for subjecting her to this kind of horrid sight.

‘I’m sorry, please forgive me’

VI. Forget-me-nots

The sound of the heart monitor was getting weaker; his breathing was getting more erratic with each passing minute. “Shinsou-san, hang in there!” [L/N] pleaded, her tears rolling down fast off her face. Shinsou looked at her one last time, taking in her sad, disheveled look.

With the last of his strength, he held her face with affection and opened his mouth to release the last flower that bloomed. Blue flowers littered his bed as his eyes started to close, his hand dropping from her face. The long beep from the monitor entered [L/N]’s ears. Her tears still flowing as she held his lifeless hand for one last time.

‘Forget me not [F/N]’

VII. Primrose

[L/N] starred at the inscriptions on the stone. Her eyes tired from balling out from the loss of her closest confidant. This grave contained the body of the boy she cared the most to rest there for all eternity.

“[F/N], we have to go soon.” Kaminari voiced out, crouching down to envelop the girl in a comforting embrace.

“Just… give me one more minute, Denki.” She said as she fished out a single rose from the bouquet she brought. Her hand placed the flower gently on the stone, giving it one last glance.

“Let’s go now Denki”

‘So long, my first love.’
