Sometimes a bottle of wine doesn’t need a reason. Sometimes it’s just a Saturday night, and you have a twenty in your wallet that could be used to lunch at work or bus fare or any other useful thing, and instead you walk into the corner store and walk out with a bottle of something gentle and sweet just because. Never mind that it was the kind your mom drank before she got too sick.
“Okay,” you hiccuped, smiling brightly from your little corner on the couch. Your inhuman house guest sat gracefully on the other end, watching you with a mixture of amusement and terseness. “My turn! So if god forbid my whole house caught on fire and everything was gonna burn down to ashes and you could only save one of your possessions, what would it be?”
The glass at your lips, you sipped at more of your drink, watching Yoongi from underneath your eyelashes as he deliberated. But he didn’t take long. In fact, he had barely waited for you to finish talking before he blinked, seeming to consider if he would answer rather that what he would.
“You.”
He had the sense to wait for you to finish swallowing so you wouldn’t splutter, but you did choke up anyway and by the time you had coughed and managed not to spill anything while going very red-faced, he was looking away disinterestedly at some blank spot on the wall.
