Work Text:
(Ooh girl you're shining
Like a 5th avenue diamond
And they don't make you like they used to
You're never going out of style)
Jirou stares at Momo from the across the dorm living room, leaning her cheek on the palm of her hand. She’s talking about hosting a study session later to help Ashido and Kaminari help catch up on the subjects they don’t get. The black haired girl is absolutely shining in Jirou’s eyes. Her eyes are sparkling and she looks so happy. Jirou sighs happily, allowing the butterflies in her stomach to erupt and send waves if bills through her. In the back of her mind Jirou’s already creating a plan to ask the girl to be her date to the formal dance the school had decided to host to celebrate making it through half of the year.
(Ooh pretty baby
This world might've gone crazy
The way you save me
Who can blame me
When I just wanna make you smile?)
This was it! Jirou has finally worked up all of her courage and she is going to do it! She’s going to ask Momo to the dance! Now all she has to do is sit at her desk and wait for the perfect moment. Momo is looking a little down in the dumps today, probably because she didn’t get asked or something silly, so Jirou decides the best time is right now. “Hey Yaomomo?” Jirou calls out as the tall girl walks past her desk. Instantly she looks up with a smile Jirou could easily see through. “Just wanted to say you look really nice today!” Jirou smiles kindly. Momo’s face lights up in a blush and she looks away in embarrassment, but a soft smile adorns her lips. She smile shyly at Jirou before shuffling back to her desk. ‘Dammit!’ Jirou thinks as she droops her head. Next time for sure!
(I wanna thrill you like Michael
I wanna kiss you like Prince
Let's get it on like Marvin Gaye
Like Hathaway
Write a song for you like this
You're over my head
I'm out of my mind
Thinking I was born in the wrong time
One of a kind, living in a world gone plastic
Baby you're so classic)
Momo has officially won most amazingly perfect girl in the world in Jirou’s eyes. The dance is looming ever closer, so naturally everyone is scrambling to get ready. Jirou is sitting at her desk, idly scrolling through her phone in attempt to pick a dress with Kaminari making comments about her choices over her shoulder. In response she’ll punch him and comment about the tux he’s looking at and everything is fine until Momo walks over to them. “U-Uh, H-Hello, Jirou,” She starts awkwardly, blushing and not making eye contact. Jirou’s heart swells but she hides it behind a smile.
“Hey, Yaomomo! What’s up?” She asks kindly.
“Do you… would you… wanna be mydatetothedance?” Momo asks quickly. Jirou’s mind just about explodes. She face probably looks negative as Momo starts to turn away with a mumbles apology until Jirou grabs her arm with a bright grin.
“Hell yeah I do!”
(Four dozen roses
Anything for you to notice
All the way to serenade you
Doing it Sinatra style
I'm a pick you up in a Cadillac
Like a lady bringin' glamour back
Keep it reel to reel in the way I feel
I could walk you down the aisle)
“Momo’s here. I gotta go! Be back around ten!” Jirou says to her parents as she breaks free from the spot she’d been stuck taking pictures in.
“Be safe!” Her mother yells out to her.
“Always am!” Jirou yells back as she runs outside to meet her date. Momo is standing in front of a long, almost gaudy limousine looking fidgety and nervous. She looks up and a grin spreads across her face when she see Jirou running towards her. Jirou grips the bouquet of roses tightly behind her back as she walks to stand in front of the gorgeous, tall, amazing girl. She brings the flowers out and holds them to Momo. “These are for you!” Jirou says. She fidgets nervously as she waits for a response. Momo is absolutely radiant in that dress.
“They’re beautiful,” Momo says as she gently takes the flowers from Jirou, kind smile on her face.
“Not as beautiful as you!” Jiro grins happily and Momo laughs with a blush.
(Baby you're class and baby you're sick
I never met a girl like you ever 'till we met
A star in the 40s, centerfold in the 50s
Got me tripping out like the sixties
Hippies, Queen of the discotheque
A 70s dream and an 80s best
Hepburn, Beyoncé, Marilyn, Massive
Girl you're timeless, just so classic)
Momo is definitely the most girl at the whole dance, at least she is in Jirou’s eyes. She’s dancing without a care in the world to the poppy, fun music blaring through the speakers and it’s all Jirou can do to watch around them and make sure neither of them hit anybody and vice versa. All she wants to do is keep her eyes glued to Momo, but that will definitely cause problems with how packed the room is. People are dancing and laughing and having fun, but when Jirou looks at Momo, everything falls away. All she see’s is a beautiful girl who’s dancing and having fun and taking a break from worrying about grades or the future for once. Momo opens her eyes and looks up to Jirou then, a smile still stretching her face and the lights making her eyes glitter. Momo holds a hand out to the smaller girl.
“Dance with me?” She yells over the music and the noise. Jirou grins and takes her hand without any hesitation.
(You're over my head I'm out of my mind
Thinking I was born in the wrong time
It's love on rewind,
Everything is so throwback-ish (I kinda like it, like it)
Out of my league
Old school chic
Like a movie star
From the silver screen
You're one of a kind living in a world gone plastic
Baby you're so classic)
Jirou has no idea how she managed to land a such an amazing girl as her date. She has no idea why someone as smart, talented, beautiful, and all around perfect as Yaoyorozu Momo asked her out. Jirou has zero idea as to how she is so lucky to get to dance with the same girl who asked her out. She has no idea why this happened, how this happened, or what will come next, but she doesn’t care. Because right now she and Momo are dancing up a storm on the crowded dance floor and this is something she never, ever wants to forget.
