Park Jimin is a renowned composer and contemporary dancer. He is also the dance instructor of his own dance studio. He had a very happy and simple life until his one true love and his long time partner Taemin died in an accident.
Jimin is a very caring sweet and emotional person. He and Taemin had been dating since their high school years. Now Jimin is 24 years old. He and Taemin finished his school and went to college together. In their freshmen year he and Taemin auditioned and Jimin entered into Big hit entertainment as a composer and a contemporary dancer while Taemin joined the SM entertainment as a dancer as well. They had a sorted out life. In the senior year of college they moved in together and had been living peacefully for about four years. They were truly happy together. And then suddenly Taemin had died in a road accident roughly two month before their 7th anniversary. Jimin’s very small and happy world broken apart as soon as he heard the news that day. He finished teaching his class and was planning about how he would propose Taemin on their anniversary in the two month. Then he got a call and he was told that there was a car crash and Taemin had died on the spot. Then news sent Jimin into a sever shock. The next few days went by their family and friend’s consoling him and after the funeral when he returned in his home alone then the gravity of the situation completely hit him. He was all alone in their apartment and he realized that Taemin was never going to come back to him. Jimin was never going to see him again, never going to hear him smile him again, never going to feel the warmth of his breath again and most certainty Taemin will never tease him again by pinching his chubby cheeks or calling him cuter not manly again. The realization hit him very hard and he burst into tears. He cried until he fell asleep.
In the next few days Jimin started to become a bit normal and started to accept the fact that Taemin was really gone. Going back to his normal life bit by bit. But he was very much aware of the gaping hole in his heart. He always felt the void and the absence of Taemin. But when his friends asked him how he asked him how he was doing he eventually started saying he was doing ok. Jimin’s company had been really considerate to him and gave him time to adjust.
It has been almost two months now that Taemin is gone. Jimin was doing ok by then, at least in eyes of the world. He didn't keep the track of which day it was very consciously any more as he had postponed most of his schedule to 4 months. He went to bighit that day for doing his normal work like usual. After a few hours later he suddenly got the call from the restaurant where he put a reservation for their anniversary two months ago. The manager had called him to get confirmation for his reservation for that night and then it hit Jimin that today was their 7th anniversary. After politely cancelling the reservation, Jimin was hit by all the memories of Taemin that he was trying very hard to bury for the last two months. He suddenly felt dizzy and a sharp pain in his heart. He needed some fresh air. He rushed out of his office but the pain in his chest suddenly increased and he felt like he couldn't breathe anymore. He couldn't keep his balance and fell on the floor of the corridor with a loud thump. He felt his vision blurring and finally the blackness consumed him.
Jimin slowly started to open his eyes. He woke up in an unfamiliar white room and he heard the sound of beeping rhythm from somewhere close to him. It took a minute for him to get adjusted to the light and by the surrounding he understood that he was in the hospital. Then his memory rushed back to him, how he probably fainted in front of his office door. Then Jimin saw a man coming through the door and he assumed that he was his doctor.
“Hello Mr. Park, I see you are awake. I am Dr. Min, you’re attending physician.” the man introduced himself. “Mr. Park you must be wondering why you are in the hospital. You were admitted in the ER this morning with ‘stressed cardiomyopathy’. It is a non ischemic cardiomyopathy caused by stress; break up, anxiety and in your case because of a loved one’s death. It is also known as the “broken heart syndrome’.”
Jimin listened to the doctor’s explanation quietly. Dr Min continued, “But as scary its sounds your case is not very bad as it was caused by the stress of your loved one’s sudden departure. After a few medication and procedures you can leave probably by tomorrow evening. But you have to let go and move on eventually and not allow the grief and stress take over you. You have to allow people in and let out your grief. Otherwise your condition can deteriorate and it can cause you acute heart failure.” At first Jimin couldn’t believe that something like this can happened. But how could he let go of Taemin like that.
Jimin was released from the hospital next evening after the procedures they had to do. The doctor warned him that he cannot live a stressful life like that and he has to let his family and friends help to get him out of his grief fully. Dr Min also forbade him strictly that he shouldn’t be living alone, not at least now. He should be living with his family or friends. Jimin’s parents died when he was a child and he was raised by his aunt. He grew up in Busan. But he moved to Seoul when he started high school. And there he met Taemin. Jimin was a shy person so he didn’t have many friends. But he did have some very close friends like Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook. But Namjoon and Seokjin were happily married and Taehyung and Jungkook were dating as well. They all used to hangout with their significant others. As much as he loved their friend, seeing them now would only remind him of Taemin and it won’t help hen in this moment. Besides his didn’t want to bother his friends as they were also very busy with their lives and carriers. Jimin was also very close with his colleague and the other dance instructor of Big hit Jung Hoseok. But he was now managing the abroad tours of two groups of their company so he was not an option as well. And going to Busan was not a good idea because he can’t distract himself with work in Busan. So Jimin decided to have a roommate. Jimin bought their apartment in down town Seoul where he lived with Taemin. Jimin was very successful in his carrier and so was Taemin. So Jimin could easily afford their three bedroom luxurious apartment. The next day he posted an ad for a roommate.
Two days after posting the ad someone named Min Yoongi contacted him and he agreed to share his apartment after talking about the formalities and rent. Min Yoongi said he would move in the next Sunday. Although Min Yoongi’s voice sounded a little familiar Jimin couldn’t pinpoint where he had heard that.
Jimin prepared the guest room for his new roommate. The next Sunday Min Yoongi called him when he was in front of his apartment. Jimin opened the door and exclaimed, “DR Min?”
“Mr. Park? You are Park Jimin? Hi I am Min Yoongi.” The man standing in front of his door said with an astonished voice.
“Sorry I should properly introduce myself. I am park Jimin. But please call me Jimin.” Dr Min also told Jimin to call him Yoongi.
But Yoongi was older than him so he told Jimin that he could call him hyung if he preferred. Yoongi then asked how he was doing. Jimin was a little surprised at first but then remembered that Yoongi knew about Taemin’s death. He said he was doing ok. He also said after his partner died the apartment became very lonely for him to live alone so he decided to took Yoongi’s advice and have a roommate. Jimin helped Yoongi to move in with his stuff and during they were sorting the stuffs, Jimin and Yoongi got to know each other a little bit. Yoongi told Jimin he was looking for a better apartment which was closer to the hospital where he worked. And Jimin told him a little about where he worked and how he used to live with his partner in the apartment and how he died in the accident. When they finished moving and sorting their stuff it was almost evening and Yoongi offered to order pizza.
Yoongi and Jimin didn’t have much problem living with each other. They didn’t get to see each other very often. Yoongi was very busy with the hospital and he mostly had to do evening shifts. And Jimin drowned himself with his studio work and dance. Jimin used to leave very early in the morning and return at night when most of the time Yoongi was at work.
That day Jimin returned from work and saw Yoongi in the living room. Yoongi said that it was his day off and offered Jimin if he wanted to have dinner with him. Jimin was a little surprised but he said yes. After Jimin freshened up he saw Yoongi was setting the table and Jimin asked if Yoongi cooked the food. “Yeah. I see you always have take outs. So I decided that it would be great to have a home cooked meal once for you beside we will get to know each other a bit as well since we are both always busy with our work” Yoongi said while finishing the setting up.
“Thanks hyung” Jimin said with a smile, “but you really didn’t have to do all this. But really thank you for thinking about this.”
“It is nothing Jimin. Now sit before all the food gets cold” Yoongi said with playfully scolding tone.
That night Yoongi and had talked about their lives while they were having dinner. Yoongi said a little bit more about his personal live, about his childhood in Deagu and how he loved playing the piano. And Jimin told him about his childhood in Busan. After dinner they decided to watch a movie. While watching the movie Yoongi asked him about Taemin. Jimin stilled for a bit at his question. Yoongi told that he didn’t have to tell if he didn’t want to. But Jimin said it was ok. Jimin said Yoongi about Taemin, how they met and how they were together for so long and how he died in that accident. Jimin became really emotional while talking about Taemin and Yoongi comforted him. He told Jimin he was there for him now and he will always be there. Yoongi didn’t know why he said that to Jimin. But when he saw Jimin crying he felt like someone was stabbing his heart. He felt a strong force of affection for the vulnerable boy. Jimin was so fragile that it somehow broke Yoongi’s heart. That night before going to sleep Jimin thanked Yoongi for making dinner for him and said that it was the first time after Taemin’s death he ate homemade food. Jimin also thanked Yoongi for listening to him and comforting him. That night Yoongi couldn’t get Jimin out of his head. He didn’t know why he was thinking about Jimin so much but he somehow felt very protective for him.
After that night Jimin and Yoongi became closer than before. And after that night Yoongi always made Jimin dinner. Yoongi switched his shift to morning after a few days, and because of that they got to see each other around the house more often. Yoongi always made breakfast for him and Jimin and Jimin started to drop Yoongi off before he went to the studio. It became a routine for them. Most of the time Yoongi cooked dinner and him and Jimin started to eat dinner together. Sometimes they had takeouts though and had movie nights. They didn’t even realize when they became so close. Jimin was doing better as well.
Almost eight months has passed since Taemin’s accident. It was Jimin’s birthday. And Yoongi surprised him by wishing him at midnight. Jimin would be lying if he said that he wasn’t touched by Yoongi’s attempt. Jimin’s birthday was not a very big deal for him but Taemin always made it special for him. But it was this time Taemin wasn’t here. Although Jimin’s friend wanted to through Jimin a party but Jimin told them not to, especially not this year. So Jimin spent his birthday by working all day. He was home by 8 and he saw Yoongi was home early that day. When the sat for dinner Jimin saw all of his favorite dishes on the table and he gave Yoongi a curious look. They didn’t talk much while eating and Yoongi said he wanted to watch a, movie with his afterwards. Jimin was waiting for Yoongi after setting up the movie and then he saw a small cake in Yoongi’s hand. Yoongi surprised him again and it was his favorite strawberry cake. Yoongi somehow managed to make Jimin’s not so significant birthday special for him and he was very touched, again. They also had some dinks when watching the movie and because of a very busy day at work Jimin fell asleep. Yoongi noticed Jimin and he tried to take him to his bed room.
When he was tucking Jimin in his bed Jimin took his hands as a pillow. Yoongi slowly tried to leave and Jimin suddenly murmured “Please don’t leave.”
Yoongi didn’t know what took over him. Out of the blue he kissed Jimin on his lips. Although it was just a small peck it managed to wake Jimin up
. “Hyung what are you doing?” Jimin said in a shocked voice.
Yoongi hurriedly said that it was not what he was thinking and he would talk to him next morning and left Jimin’s room. Both Jimin and Yoongi couldn’t sleep for while that night. Next morning Jimin found breakfast and a not on the table saying Yoongi had an urgent patient so he had to leave early. Jimin left for office after taking a shower and he was already late so he didn’t eat the breakfast. He thought about Yoongi while he was driving and it stricked him how he and Yoongi became close over the months. He realized how he had become dependent on small things that Taemin used to do for him. How Yoongi had taken the role of Taemin by making small things special for him, taking care of him. Taemin could never be replaced in his heart but Yoongi has made a place in there too, a big one. When Jimin was in his studio he was too distracted by these thoughts. He felt like by thinking about Yoongi like this he was cheating on Taemin. He wanted a distraction. So after the class ended he started to practice an old choreography that he learned when he was young. That was only his. He let go of himself completely, moving with the music. Twisting and turning his body, like the music was flowing through his veins. After the song ended he realized it was late and most of the people in the office had left already. He drove home by himself as Yoongi already messaged him that he was home. When Jimin was unlocking his apartment door, he felt a little sick and he realized that he didn’t eat any solid thing the whole day except coffee. When he entered his apartment he found Yoongi on the living room couch.
“Hyung I want to talk to you about something” Jimin said.
“Jimin if this is about last night we can talk about it later ok. First go and freshen up, you look very tired. Are you Ok?” Yoongi asked.
Jimin opened his mouth to reply that he was fine but he couldn’t. He was empty stomached all day and had a really tough practice. He also did extra hours and it took the toll. He was already a little bit dizzy when he left his studio. Nut now he felt like the whole room was spinning. His vision blurred dangerously. He felt like he heard Yoongi’s voice from somewhere far. And after that he felt like falling but someone held him from behind at the very last moment and everything went black for Jimin.
Jimin regained consciousness slowly and found himself lying on his bed with an IV tugged in his arm. He also found Yoongi sitting beside him and holding his hand. His small hand fitted perfectly in Yoongi’s larger ones.
“Jiminah you almost gave me heart attack. Tell me the truth what have you eaten all day?” Yoongi said in a concerned voice. Jimin made a guilty face.
Then out of the blue he asked “Hyung why I did I gave you a heart attack?”
Yoongi sat still for a moment and then said “Jiminah you did that because I care about you, you Idiot. I don’t know from when but I started to like you. You, your simile, your little habits, your blushing red cheeks when you get shy and your kind and genuine personality, I like this all Jimin. I… I love you Jiminah.”
Jimin was really shocked at Yoongi’s sudden confession and started” but hyung….”
Yoongi cuts him off mid sentence “Jimin I know you loved Taemin, so much that his departing had made you sick, physically and I know I won’t ever be able to take his place in your heart. But I will never try to take his place.”
Yoongi’s word left Jimin in tears. “Hyung I don’t know what to say. You already have a huge place in my heart hyung. I do like you a lot hyung and I want to return these feeling to you as well…. But I don’t know how long it would take for me to love you completely. And I don’t think I deserve someone great like you….I don’t think my broken heart deserves you….”
Young stopped Jimin “Jiminah don’t say that. You deserve a lot than you think baby. I can love your broken heart Jiminah. I love you the way you are Jimin. I will make your broken heart mine Jiminah and I will make it whole again.”
Before Jimin could reply Yoongi kissed him. It was a gentle and sweet kiss and Jimin responded to Yoongi. He kissed Yoongi back. After they share their sweet moment Yoongi broke off the kiss and scolded Jimin for not being careful about his health. Then Yoongi spooned Jimin cautiously (because of the IV in his hand) and they fell asleep peacefully.
It has been 6 years since Jimin and Yoongi are together. After that night Yoongi never left Jimin alone. And after two years of dating they got married. Yoongi was the one to propose Jimin. Their friends teased them hard about how it was obvious that Yoongi would be the one to propose because he was the top in bed. But Jimin didn’t mind about it and Yoongi really did make the proposal very special and memorable for him. And they ended up having one of the best nights of their two years of dating. Jimin now owns a studio with Hoseok and Yoongi is a very successful doctor in his hospital. Yoongi sometimes comes to Jimin’s Studio to pursue his old passion piano. Both of them are really really successful in their own line of careers. They adopted a dog and Yoongi named it Minholy. They thought it would be better for them to not have (adopt) children yet because of their extremely busy lives. But even in the busiest of times they still have time for each other. Jimin still loves Taemin but he loves Yoongi much more. Yoongi had been true to his words and made Jimin’s broken heart whole again. He showed Jimin how special he was and sometimes Jimin wondered what had he done to deserve someone like Yoongi. But Yoongi always says that he is so lucky to have Jimin. And after arguing about it playfully the both comes to the conclusion that they both deserves each other and laugh. Jimin never thought his life will turn out like this. But he is truly happy, happy with Yoongi, happy to be his. And Jimin cherishes every moment he spends with Yoongi whole heartedly and Yoongi does the same as well.
