Work Text:
It’s another beautiful summer day in the town of Morioh. While usually quiet, today was a fuss in Kishibe Villa. The young and handsome mangaka’s boyfriend, AKA: Josuke Higashikata, finally had a free day from the Speedwagon foundation. Even though it might not appear like that, Rohan was looking forward to the day he would visit, since he’s been busy for two months straight doing some random training. There was no use on telling him to quit and just be a normal police officer, or that he could easily get any job for entertaining and that he would be in charge of financial stability. Josuke was too proud for that, and didn’t feel like depending on Rohan’s money.
“Not that I’m doing it for the payment thought…” he reminded as he softly grabbed Rohan’s hand. As they lied in the couch and watched a movie together, the artist looked like he knew what was going on next. “I just think that since I’m a Joestar after all and have my ability…”
“Yeah, yeah. That you should just do what’s right and stay in the, so called, family business…” Rohan didn’t let him finish as he hushed him. “You used to be such a little shit. I can’t believe you” he added and poked Josuke’s forehead.
Josuke couldn’t help but laugh a little. “You said you were fine with this. That I would be less of a distraction and less annoying by being busy” he said as he pressed a kiss on his cheek. “But I guess is easier said than done. Bet cha missed me!!!”
Cleaning the wet kiss with the back of his hand, Rohan just stayed in silence and kept trying to watch the movie. Josuke, on the other hand, couldn’t care less on watching The Devil wears Prada for the fifteenth time since they were dating. Teasing his boyfriend, he moved his hands and touched Rohan’s waist, and pressed a few kisses on his shoulder. Rohan sighed, but didn’t complain or made a big deal of it, since Josuke was always touching his abdomen without any kind of warning. The guy was so affectionate, that it was just normal. Of course, at first this was something weird for him, who wasn’t really into physical contact, but with the time he started liking it, even craving a little.
And that little, after a long time without seeing each other, grew overwhelmingly fast into desire. Feeling the soft fingertips of the younger stand user sliding on his side, he couldn’t help but feel his heartrate beating faster, and started losing the track of the movie. Looking at Josuke by the corner of the eye, he could see him blushing as he pressed more kisses in different parts of his body. It tickled a little, but felt so well. He wasn’t going to let him know, thought. At least, not yet.
Josuke just pressed firmly every kiss, going through his arms, shoulders and neck. He was being so obvious, but apparently Rohan wasn’t feeling how horny he was after all the time without seeing him. Sliding his hand down below and starting to touch Rohan’s legs, he hoped to be more evident.
Ah, but Rohan was so stubborn. He couldn’t help but smile while he felt the kisses being pressed hard against his neck, as he could feel Josuke’s hot breath against his skin. He could feel himself getting really aroused by that, but he wanted to wait a little more. Spreading his legs a little, he could felt the growing excitement on Josuke’s eyes, while moving his hand closer to his crotch. Just when he was about to touch him, Rohan crossed his legs and sat looking smugly at Josuke.
“Just what do you think you’re doing, Higashikata?” he asked in a cold voice, and looking at him dead serious.
“Aww, come on! Rohan!!!” Josuke couldn’t help but falling into his trap. “You want to, right?”
Without responding, his smile grew, and Josuke knew what was coming next. “I re…!” he couldn’t finish his catch phrase, since Josuke moved fast to kiss his lips, making Rohan look like he was denied of some sort of pleasure.
“I refuse to let you finish that sentence!” He pouted, as he kissed Rohan again.
“Y-you brute…” Rohan was dumbfounded, and a little angry too. Pinching one of Josuke’s cheeks, he pulled him, and nagged “I was going to say I really wanted to, but you ruined it. Now, good luck with that boner!”
He got up, in a really dramatic movement, and huffed. How dare him interrupting the great mangaka Rohan Kishibe. He was about to walk to the kitchen to grab some cold drinks, but Josuke pulled him to the couch again, and rapidly hugged him. He laughed softly and kept cuddling him.
“Don’t go. If you don’t want to, we can just keep watching the movie… By now I think I’ve learnt all the damn thing, tho” he added.
“I asked you twice if you wanted to watch something else, and you said it was fine” Rohan replied bitterly.
“Yeah, but I wasn’t planning on watching it anyway, Rohan!” Josuke laughed and then pressed a soft kiss on his boyfriend cheek. Rohan rolled his eyes, but quietly thighed the hug.
The doorbell ringed, while the movie kept playing in the background. Josuke couldn’t help but jump a little by the sound. Rohan pulled him by the neck of his shirt, to resume the make-out session they were having, but there was the doorbell again. He grunted, as Josuke was again trying to get up.
“It must be the mailman or something, let it be!” putting his arms around his back, Rohan kept trying to stop him.
“Yeah, but the buzz is distracting me! What if is Koichi?”
Oh no, he did not play the Koichi card! Rohan sighed angry at the response. “Okay, go. Whatever. But if it’s just the mailman I’ll fucking kill you”
“Don’t worry, babe, I’ll be back soon!” Josuke laughed cheerfully and blowed him a kiss, as he got up, and buttoned up his pants.
Walking fast to the door, Josuke opened before the bell ringed for the four of fifth time. There was a mid-age man pressing the bell button, wearing fancy, yet casual clothes, and carrying a suitcase. Something on him looked weirdly familiar, but Josuke couldn’t put his finger on it. The woman at his side looked a little younger than him, and was very beautiful. Josuke was pretty sure he has seen her on a magazine or something. She was wearing a summer dress that only made her skin look paler than it already was. On her arms, a little child, a baby, was sleeping undisturbed by the sound of the cars in the middle of the evening. They stared awkwardly at the young man that opened the door.
“Uhm… G-good evening?” Josuke greeted as confused as them.
The woman blushed a little, and said something to the man, that apparently was her husband. “Are you sure this is the direction, dear?”
“Honey, how many mangakas do you think that live in this old little town? I asked the guy in the taxi and he was pretty sure about it.” the man answered in a really sassy tone, making Josuke stiff a little. That, again, was awfully familiar.
They kept talking to each other, it was like they didn’t even noticed that Josuke was there. Well, of course they did, because apparently, he was the reason why they were so confused. He wanted to help, but they seemed so busy arguing, that he just awkwardly coughed, to remind them he was there. To make things worse, he could hear Rohan calling him back.
“Josuke! What is it? If they are selling something I’m not interested!!!” He said with a little bit of frustration on his voice.
“Just… Hear me. There’s a huge nameplate and it says ‘Kishibe villa’ on it. I’m pretty sure it’s his house!” The man was starting to lose his patience.
“Yeah, but there could be someone else whose last name is Kishibe, mister unique!” She pouted refusing to give him the last word.
“Uhm, I… I am not… Ehm…” Josuke kept trying to interrupt but they were so busy with each other. It was almost like hearing Rohan arguing with himself. “Wait…” something hit Josuke like an ambulance, and couldn’t help but internally freak out. “H-holy shit…”
Angry steps came closer as Josuke still was in the doorframe, looking shocked. “Goddamn, Josuke, just why don’t you shut the door close?!”
Josuke couldn’t respond. He just pointed out at the couple that did not even notice him. Rohan widened his eyes in surprise. Was that… His father? And his mother? Together?! In front of his house?! And what the fuck was that little gremlin on HIS mother arms?!
“Oh! Rohan, there you are! See, honey? That’s his house after all!” The man, Rohan’s dad, said with a smug look on his face.
“H-honey?” Rohan looked like he was about to faint. What the hell was going on.
“Ugh, okay. You were right, for like the first time in 20 years. Don’t make a fuss about it!” she replied, shutting him rapidly, and turning her attention to the young man besides her son. “Where are my manners. I’m Naomi Kishibe, nice to meet you… mister…?”
“Ah! I’m… I’m Josuke Higashikata” bowing awkwardly he greeted her, but it was obvious that she was just changing the subject. So, after all she was, at least, Rohan’s relative.
Interrupting, Rohan made the older couple get in the house and told Josuke to grab the rest of their luggage. He wasn’t making the awkward introductions in the front of his yard just so the neighbors will have a juicy chit-chat about him. It was enough with Josuke not letting them in in the first place.
As the couple looked around the house, Josuke looked at Rohan, waiting for an explanation, but found none. His boyfriend was paler than usual, and seemed on the verge of an actual panic attack. It made Josuke felt bad, and decided to play it cool and not worry him anymore. He hurried to the kitchen for a glass of water and the medicine Rohan kept for using in cases like that. When the young man was in the kitchen, he could overhear the couple talking in a really fond way to Rohan, and by what he could understand, they were, indeed, his parents. It made him a little nervous, but in this moment Rohan sanity was more important than that. Breathing deeply, he went back to the hall, were Rohan was still standing, and looking blankly at his parents.
“Hey, take this. I’ll take their things to the guest room” He said calmly, even though he was about to freak out too. “Tell them to take a sit on the living room or something. I can leave if you want”
“No, no, no. Please stay.” Rohan took the pill and drank half of the water right away. It seemed that this was more than just a random visit for him.
Josuke just nodded, and did as he said. That let Rohan standing alone in front of this strange scenery that was his parents together, again, after 7 years of being divorced. Not only that, but it seemed that they even added a little something to the family. Someone. An actual baby, to be clear. It was not that unbelievable, since his mother was, still, pretty young. But somehow it was still bizarre.
“Rohan…” his mother approached, with a kind smile drawn on her, yet, beautiful face. “Dear… I’m sorry we didn’t tell you we were coming here, but it was not planned at all”
“I’m… Just…” Rohan seemed about to cry for a second, but his pride was big enough to contain the tears even from his mother. “You… You must be exhausted. Let’s go to the living room, so you could rest. Josuke’s carrying your luggage to a room that you can use…”
They accepted the offer, but looked at each other by the corner of the eye. It seemed that they were using the room, as there were snacks over the coffee table, a blanket on the sofa and The Devil wears Prada paused at the middle of the movie. Making themselves in home, they sat separately in the fancy chairs at one side of the room.
“Your grandmother would be so angry if she knew you’re using shoes in your house…” Rohan’s father spoke, breaking the awkward silence between the three of them.
“It’s a western style house, so I fail to see the trouble of it” Rohan huffed, feeling a little guilty for not visiting the old woman in a while.
“It’s pretty clean too. I’m impressed. You were never a chore person, but it seems that your… uhm… employee does a great job maintaining the house.” Naomi said, perfectly knowing that it was just a question in order to know who that young lad was.
“Josuke’s not an employee.” Rohan said, refusing to give any information yet. “I call for cleaning service once in a while, it just happened that yesterday I called…”
“Why? Did you know we were coming?” the father asked kind of disappointed.
“I wish I knew!” Rohan spitted out. He could not pretend anymore that the curiosity wasn’t killing him. “What are you doing here? Out of the blue… And together moreover?”
They just chuckled. What was that?! Rohan groaned out loud. This was so stupid. It was obvious that his parents were reunited again, and not losing time since, apparently, he had a little sibling now. This seemed perfectly out of a nightmare. He could hear the kettle whistling, and some noises coming from the kichen. You’ve got to be kidding. Now Josuke was probably going to bring some tea and cookies to make things more awkward yet. And a few minutes later, there he was, bringing a tray with 4 cups, instant coffee, teabags, sugar and cookies. What was worse is that he sat right by his side. Is that this guy had no common sense!?
“Oh! I think I didn’t have the pleasure... I’m Araki Kishibe, Rohan’s father” he greeted as he reached for a cup of tea, serving it to his wife.
“V-very nice to meet you, sir!” Josuke stiffed, and then blushed. The whole family looked at him, expecting for some clarifying. “I’m… Rohan’s friend… by the way.”
“Boyfriend.” Rohan corrected rapidly, and tried not to make a big deal of it, while he clearly blushed, as pouring some extra spoons to his already black coffee. Looking at his mother, who was rocking the little baby on her arms, Rohan couldn’t help but feel a little curious. “What’s their name?”
“He’s Satoshi… Actually, we were here to introduce him to his brother…” She said, uncovering the little baby’s face, so Rohan could see him. Josuke, of course, took a look, and couldn’t help but smile a little. Not like Rohan, who was unamused by the natural ugliness that came with most of babies at first months. He was probably 3 months at most.
“I arrived yesterday from a meeting in Germany, and since I wasn’t able to help her before, we decided to travel before I have to go again…” Araki sighed, sounding really tired, as he cleaned his glasses. “Actually, I got to say that’s amazing that we have so much to talk in one reunion. We are one terrible family”
The statement made Rohan laugh a little. He was used to hear those words, but for Josuke it sounded horrible. How could it be that they never called their son before? They were together for almost a year now, and it was the first time he even knew his parents were alive. Rohan knew his mother, sat to talk with her, and they had a pretty good relationship, but he never even thought of meeting them one day. What would it be for them? Maybe they wouldn’t be okay with that? How was that they were just laughing on the fact that they barely knew each other?!
“Are you staying for a long time?” Rohan asked again in his annoyed voice. “I don’t want to get less sleep because Satoshi cries in the nights”
“He’s a well-behaved boy, contrary to someone I know, first of all. And no, we’re leaving you in two or three days. I’ve got to be back in Tokyo before the new collection launches” Naomi said, taking a little notebook from her purse, and checking dates. “We will have enough time to visit your grandmother.”
“She knows of the baby, by the way. Since she actually calls.”
“Phones works in both ways”
“Not when you disconnect your phone, tho…” Josuke added without really thinking of it.
All the gazes turned to him, suddenly. He covered his mouth with both of his hands. How could he be so dumb to say something like that?! But, surprisingly, it made Araki chuckle a little. Followed by his wife, who struggled on not laughing out loud at the statement. Rohan, on the other hand, felt betrayed, and took a big sip of coffee.
“How old are you? If you don’t mind the question” Naomi asked as soon as she could stop laughing.
“I’m eighteen, Mrs. Kishibe… I’m studying in the Speedwagon foundation academy to become a doctor” he stiffed again, clearly nervous to have all the attention on him.
“This is not a job interview, mister Higashikata. Don’t be so tense” Araki’s voice was a little dense, though, so it didn’t really sound like he meant it. “But thank you for the information”
“Medicine, huh? You’re so handsome though… Maybe I will call you if I need a model for the next collection…” She said looking at him in a similar way Rohan did when he drew him, clearly admiring him. “You’re 1,90 meters? Pretty impressive muscles too…”
“Mother, I don’t think Josuke’s really interested in…”
“Were you by any chance a model before, Mrs. Kishibe?” Josuke asked really excited, suddenly remembering all the fashion magazines he used to watch with his mother.
“Yes, I’m still a model. But now I have my own brand, so I don’t really do that as often… Now that I have a baby again, is almost unthinkable…”
“You’re beautiful Mrs. Kishibe!!! I bet you will be back at the catwalk soon!” Josuke was fangirling a little. It made Rohan and his father a little uncomfortable.
“Ah, thank you… Do you mind calling me by my name, though? I don’t really enjoy being called by a last name that’s not mine” She said, with just the same amount of pride in her words as Rohan when he mentioned who he was.
Josuke was amused by how similar they were. Now he could definitely tell why Rohan was so beautiful, and stubborn too. He was so glad that the meeting was going okay. Or at least with Rohan’s mother. He smiled, but Rohan kept looking at him with a cold look on his eyes. Was he doing something wrong?
“Tell me, young man. Do you live here with our son?” Araki wasn’t amused. Oh no. He looked even a little pissed.
“N-not at all, sir. I, uhm, live with my mother, Tomoko Higashikata. I was just visiting” The look of his boyfriend and the old man make him a little tense again.
“Are you planning on leaving Japan so you could get married?” He asked rising an eyebrow. “How long have you been together anyway?”
“What?!” Rohan jumped with that question. Marriage?! What was his old man even thinking?! “Josuke’s just graduated from school. We’ve been dating for a year or so. No marriage now, nor soon. Okay?!”
It took Josuke by surprise. He wouldn’t even have considered marring Rohan before. Not that the idea bothered him, but wasn’t really on his plans by now. Rohan on the other hand, seemed about to explode. He knew the idea of him dating a man wasn’t much of a big deal for his parents, since they traveled a lot and taught him a lot of different cultures. So that was out of his list of worries. But even so, the man was kind of old fashioned.
“Dear, let them be young! It’s the first time we ever get to know the person Rohan’s dating, so relax a little” She seemed way more realistic about that. Thank god. Josuke already loved her. “Besides, don’t you think they look so beautiful together?”
“M-mom!?” Rohan was red from all the blush on his cheeks.
His parents started arguing about the values of marriage, family, tradition, and whether premarital sex was right or not, right in front of them. They both stiffed by hearing the last part. Why were they discussing that anyway? Not that they were about to get it when they arrived, but why did the subject even come there. Just as the meeting escalated quickly from pacific to awkward, Satoshi started crying. ‘Well done, brother!’ Rohan thought.
“Oh my… He must be hungry… I think I will go to the guest room to feed him. We will need a cradle if we stay for a little longer…” she said standing up.
“I know where you can rent one. I will give you the number” Josuke offered kindly.
“Thank you so much! You’re a doll!”
“Why would a teenager like you even know such a thing? Are you a father, Higashikata?” Araki was still holding his cautions with the teenager. He didn’t want his elder son to deal with any teenager bullshit.
“N-no! Miser! My father leased one when he adopted my little sister!” he explained nervous as Rohan stood up to show his mother the way to the guest room, not having enough patience for hearing his father being overprotective on him.
“I thought you lived only with your mother”
“I do! He came here to knew me, since he and my mother were not married, and ended up adopting a baby we found abandoned in the street. I know it sounds weird, but my family is weird, I swear!” he explained the best way he could, sweating nervously.
Rohan couldn’t believe it. Why today, from all the days they could have come. He was just planning to have a nice weekend with the boyfriend he hadn’t seen in months, and now the family he hasn’t seen in years was here too. If he survived the weekend, he would have to take a break from his manga just to think about all that was going to happen in the next days.
“Rohan, dear… Could you lend me the baby purse that’s there, please?” his thoughts were interrupted by his mother, who was apparently changing the diaper of his recently knew brother. Making as she asked, he gave her the big purse, and helped finding a clean diaper between all the babies clothes. It was something he never thought he would have to do at his 22 years of life. Giving her the diaper, she smiled at him. “I’m glad you’re doing fine, my precious little sprout…”
“Are you talking to me or to the small seed over there?” Rohan asked with a little bit of pettiness in his voice.
“Aw, my baby sprout, you’re the only one I will ever call like that. Don’t be jealous” She laughed softly, and ended changing the baby. “But seed is a pretty good nickname for your brother. Well done! Now go, I have to feed him so he will grow handsome as his big brother” She shooed him from the room.
Making his way back to the living room, he could hear something. Were those laughs? Just what was going on?! He entered the room, and he could see Josuke sat side by side with his dad, viewing what seemed to be Rohan’s baby pictures and old drawings.
“Oh! Babe, you’re back. Mister Araki was telling me about that time you eat a box of crayons because you thought the color meant they were different flavors. That’s so sweet!!!” he chuckled a little.
“I told you, just call me Araki, Josuke!” Rohan’s dad was wheezing from laughter. “Oh, come here, sprout. He was about to tell me how to style my hair like his. Don’t cha think your old man would rock that hairstyle?”
Rohan just walked there. Dumbfolded. What was even going on this weekend? It didn’t really matter. That was for sure the weirdest way of things to happen, but what the hell.
“Hey, we could go later to Tonio’s… He’s a close friend of mine. You’ll love his restaurant. He’s from Napoli” He suggested as he approached the couch again.
“Oh! Napoli! I remember when you threw up on the Mount Vesuvius tour. You were so little! Josuke, you will love our vacation family album. I’ll bring it next time!” he added.
“Sure! Next time you can meet my mother too!”
“Why wait? Tell her to come to Tonio’s tonight. And bring all your baby pictures. I won’t be the only blackmailed here!” Rohan said sharply. If the night was going to be like this, he would at least have as much fun as he could. And finding new ways to laugh at his boyfriend was for sure one hell of a night.
