Chapter Text
You looked down at the paper in your hands, knuckles almost as white as the page. On it was the information for your destination: an apartment in the Akatsuka Ward. A new job and a new future ahead of you, you had needed to find a place to stay closer to the city. Luckily, there had been a notice in your local paper for places, and you were finally on your way.
It had been a long morning, saying goodbye to your family before getting on the train. It was the first time you'd been out on your own like this, and the nerves were making your head pound. You attempted focused on the page as much as you could, but with the thoughts racing in your head, the printed words were just a blur.
-
It was a couple hours later when you stepped off the train, shielding your eyes as you stepped into the bright afternoon sun. A few years had passed since you had been in the area, and you were hesitant to wander from your destination too far. You didn't want to get lost, the fear of crying in front of a total stranger kept you feeling quite childish.
Luckily for you, the map your mother had sent with you led you straight for your new home, gaping at the buildings and businesses you passed. You didn't know a lot about living in a city by yourself, but you tried to hang on to what little faith you had that everything would be alright.
After your short trek, you stood a few feet from the door to the office of an average looking apartment complex. Nothing really stood out to you, and you hoped for nothing too terribly surprising would happen once you stepped foot inside.
You took a few deep breaths, hopping up and down as you tried to psych yourself up. You gently knocked on the door, the nerves eating at your stomach. You vaguely had the thought to turn and run, but before you could act the door opened up. There stood an older man, hair neatly brushed back and wearing a tidy grey suit. He smiled to you, introducing himself as Kaneko Hiraku, your new landlord. He led you inside, giving you a tour of the complex and your apartment. You had had previous communications with Hiraku before, through email and phone calls, and he seemed like a very nice man and was able to help you out with getting situated. You weren't rich by any means, and you were hoping to find some way to save up your money before you had to spend too much. Thankfully, Hiraku seemed to be an ally for you.
After going through the complex, he showed you the actual apartment you would be staying in. There were two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a nice living room area. More than suitable for what you needed. "It seems a bit big," you commented, mostly to yourself. Hiraku smiled to you, nodding.
"Actually, there is something I need to discuss with you about the situation," he admitted, turning to you. "You see, for such a discounted rent fee, while I am willing to help you out on that, you will have a roommate to live with you." A roommate? You hadn't really thought about that, but of course it was a possible situation. He continued to explain, "You will, of course, have your own separate room and lavatory, so it is really up to you how well you get along, if at all. You were in a similar situation, so I hope all will be well for you."
You thought about what your roommate would be like. You definitely didn't want there to be any problems, especially since you were just finding out about this, but were still hopeful. The two of you could have a bit of fun, if they were willing. "When do I meet my roommate?" You asked, nodding as you processed the information you were given. Hiraku smiled to you.
"They should be here shortly. Until then, why don't you get settled in? You can pick which room you want, and start setting up how you please." With that, the landlord was out the door and you were by yourself in the big, bare apartment. Looking at the two rooms, they seemed to be the same size, so you ambled into one of them, lugging your suitcase with you. Your parents would be sending in more of your things for you later, so for the time you only had a few boxes as well.
You grabbed the boxes you had in the living room and pulled them to your room, opening them up. Out of one of them, you pulled an old stereo, turning it up loudly as you began to decorate. You had a mat you were planning to sleep on before you got your bed in, and you shoved it into the closet, along with the few outfits you brought with you. One of your favorite songs came on the radio, and you began to dance around to the beat, and you spun around, losing yourself to it. It wasn't until you twirled around again and were facing the door when you saw somebody standing there, watching you intently. That wasn't the most surprising part of it all, though.
There were six sets of eyes, all on you.
-
Several minutes later, there were seven people in the living room, you included. Your cheeks were still red from having been caught in your room.
As soon as you saw them, you shrieked and seemed to startle the six staring, before slamming the door. Why were there so many? Had they broken in? And why the fuck did they all look the same?
According to Hiraku, they were sextuplets, not aliens, and also your roommates. You had politely reminded him he might have left that detail out, to which he laughed, leaving you all the the living room to talk.
They were in their mid-twenties, and were on their own hunt for jobs when their parents finally kicked them out. They didn't think it would last, but they wanted to prove their parents out of spite that they could do it. They seemed kind of air-headed, in their own ways.
"Hey, on the plus side, it's not all awful," the one in red pointed out. The green one seethed in his direction.
"I don't see how you're so calm about this! You're the reason we got kicked out!" The red one stuck his tongue out.
"Maybe we can get this gal to help us out, don't you think?" He sighed, hiking his thumb toward you. Wide-eyed, you weren't sure if you really wanted to get in the middle of their argument. You didn't even know their names!
Suddenly, something caught your hand, startling you from Red's and Green's fight. The blue one was holding it, giving you what you assumed was supposed to be a sort of sexy smile, but under the current circumstances, you were more terrified than anything. "My angel," he purred, and you almost lost it. "Was it by fate that the gods sent you to us, cruel as they may be? To deal with such damnable creatures as we are." You cringed. What the hell.
The one in purple slapped Blue upside the head, causing him to tear up in surprise. Blue turned and they started arguing. You slowly backed up, heart racing and wanting to escape. This had to be some sort of crazy dream. At least, you really hoped so when you bumped into something and slowly turned to the the one in yellow. He grinned, mouth agape. You weren't sure if he was smiling at you or not, or even where his focus was.
Closing your eyes, you suddenly felt a weight on your arm, looking only to see the pink one cuddling up to you, his phone at arms length. "Ne, ne, let's take a picture, you cutie!" He chirped, winking to you. The yellow one was still grinning behind you.
You took a deep breath and excused yourself to the other side of the room, pinching the bridge of your nose. Turning, all these boys - children, really - were still fighting amongst each other, giving you a pounding headache. After another deep breath, welling up your irritation, you decided to put a stop to it.
"SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU!"
It went silent, all six pairs of eyes on you once again. Red and Green had begun to wrestle on the floor, and Purple had the front of Blue's sweater balled in his fist. Pink had stopped paying attention to anything that wasn't his phone, and Yellow... Yellow was still smiling.
You glared at them. They stared back. This really wasn't how you wanted your first day to go.
"Sit!" You commanded, and all the boys sat down in a row on their knees, with the exception of Yellow, you sat on his rump like a dog. So far, he was your favorite, even as unsettling as he was.
"We have a few ground rules to go over, and we can't do that if you all are fighting," you pointed out with a sigh. You looked between all of them. "I don't even know your names."
The boys all smiled, Red standing up. Your brow raised quizzically, his hand pounding against his chest with a dull thud. "I am Matsuno Osomatsu!" He proclaimed, nodding as he sat back down. Blue then stood up.
He gave you a deep, melodramatic bow before looking up to you, that same look from earlier on his face. "Matsuno Karamatsu, darling," he cooed. As he stood back up, he pulled a pair of sunglasses from his back pocket and put them on, a smug look on his face as he sat. Green stood up.
Oh lord, you realized. They were all going to do this, huh?
"My name is Matsuno Choromatsu," he stated matter-of-factly, giving you a modest bow. He smiled. "I am the third eldest, and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." As he sat, Purple stood.
You could barely hear him as he mumbled out his introduction before sitting down. "Matsuno Ichimatsu." Yellow leapt up, hopping toward you.
"I'm Jyushimatsu! Matsuno Jyushimatsu! We're going to play and have a lot of fun!" He hollered, grabbing your hands and pulling you toward them. Purple - Ichimatsu - leapt forward from his spot and tackled Jyushimatsu off of you, pulling him back toward the lineup. Pink stood up, giving you a giggle.
"I'm Matsuno Todomatsu! But you're super cute, so you can call me Totty!" He gave you a wink and then sat, very obviously playing some sort of cute card. He had to be the baby, you thought.
Nodding, you introduced yourself to these boys, before moving on.
"I do want to get to know you all, if we do live together, which I hope will make things easier," you admitted, starting to pace. It seemed to be a rather complicated situation you were dealing with, not only leaving your home but moving in with six new roommates. You snorted as you thought of a movie about a princess and dwarves. "Honestly, this is the first time I've moved from my parents' place, and so I'm not really sure how to go about this, I'm afraid. But that's not to say we can't make this easy! As long as everyone helps out, it should be a piece of cake!"
The yellow one, Jyushimatsu, jumped up again. "Cake! I want cake!" You smiled to him reassuringly. Inside, you hoped it reassured you as well, though it didn't much.
Choromatsu, the one in green, raised his hand, smiling back to you as he stood. "We thank you for this opportunity," he announced, sighing. "Frankly, it's a miracle you didn't run away when you first saw what you were to deal with, so really we thank you!" He had a slight blush on his cheeks, and it seemed like he had a hard time maintaining eye contact. The red one, Osomatsu, snorted, rolling his eyes.
"Oi, fappy! Don't think you can go about and make 'em all sappy for you!"
Osomatsu and Choromatsu began fighting again.
You retreated back to your room.
What the hell.
