White Orchid

Summary:

It's fall, there's been a KID heist in Kyoto, and Conan is really done with all the glitter.

KID has one last present before the curtain fall.

Notes:

Day 21: White Orchid

And here I was gonna make this dark and have Ran kidnapped by KID to prevent her murder or something but my overly tired brain went: here, have a vaguely fluffy thing. And so you get the vaguely fluffy thing.

Disclaimer: I don't own Meitantei Conan.

Work Text:

“I bring a peace offering!” Kaito KID shouts from the roof of the gazebo.

“Is it the jewel?” Conan drawls, sarcasm heavy in his voice as he powers up his shoes to hit the thief in the head for not only making them – particularly Conan – run around more than usual, but also for the utterly insane amounts of glitter bombs he has sprinkled throughout the property.

It’s fall.  There’s enough color to go around in Kyoto without taking extra paint and glitter into account.

“Close, Meitantei-kun, but no cigar!”

“So it’s the jewel and something else.”

“Aw, ruin the buildup, why don’t you,” KID pouts.

“Well, you keep calling me a critic. I have to live up the title, don’t I?”

KID has to think about that for a brief moment.  On the one hand, yes, but on the other hand, a willing suspension of disbelief would be nice once in a while!

“You wouldn’t be Meitantei-kun if you weren’t always critiquing my magic,” KID concludes, “but I’ve kept her waiting long enough!”

“Her…?”

KID grins.

“I did promise a white orchid, did I not?”

Suddenly, Ran, dressed in a particularly fancy white evening gown is lowered from the roof, asleep, and clearly clutching something to her chest.

Conan – Shinichi – still isn’t sure what to think of KID’s messing with Ran.  He’s helped Shinichi out with keeping his secret, but then he’ll also go and do things like this (and that’s not even discussing the first time they met as KID and Conan).

“Yes, you did,” Conan says, looking at the ground.

“Isn’t the dress wonderful?  I thought she might enjoy—uh, Meitantei-kun?”

“Hey, KID?”

KID gulps, and starts to flee before Conan can tell him to do so.  He’s caught on pretty quickly to just how happy Conan is to kick potentially lethal soccer balls at people (KID) when they involve Ran at heists.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t prevent him from doing so, every now and again, as if to see if this time he might get lucky.  At least Ran has (usually) stopped wanting to kill KID after he pulls these stunts.  Conan would hate to have to investigate that murder.

And I'll see ya'll tomorrow.  Comments will be responded to tomorrow.

Kudos, comments, concrit welcome.
