Work Text:
Jimin doesn't expect to make friends on the first day of school.
He doesn't expect to make even one friend if he's being honest.
He's too shy, too polite, and too timid to ever approach someone first. It's something his mom has always twisted her mouth into a weird shape about and somehow Jimin knew she was displeased whenever she made that face. But she did love him, unconditionally and always tried her best to set up play dates for him.
But then Taehyung walks up to him at recess and introduces himself, Jimin thinks he might've found a friend after all.
His mom is going to be so proud of him!
Of course, the giddy feeling Jimin is experiencing only heightens when Taehyung invites him over to his house to play on the weekend. Jimin meets Taehyung's older cousin while he's there.
His name is Hoseok and he's beautiful.
Hoseok is nice and smart and knows subtraction and likes to play video games with Jimin and he has a pretty smile. Jimin takes to calling him Sunshine. Taehyung complains about them being friends at first, but when Jimin suddenly bursts into tears, apologizing to the moon and back, Taehyung reassures him that he was just joking, that he doesn't mind if Jimin is friends with his cousin. Taehyung holds Jimin as he cries and feeds him grapes afterward, patting the boy's head until he's calm again.
They start to play together every weekend.
When they leave primary school, they study together whenever they can.
When they graduate and go off to the university, Jimin is pleased to know that he and Hoseok are on the university's dance team and Hoseok still remembers him from when they were kids.
One thing leads to another and eventually, they fall in love.
