Chapter Text

1880
"What do you think you're doing?!" Amora yelled, pulling Erina away before Dio could touch her. "Erina, my treasure! Are you okay?"
She nodded. "I'm fine, Amora. Thank you..."
Dio grabbed Amora's arm, turning her to him. "Don't you dare interfere." His glare was intense and even scared her. He pushed her down into a puddle and sneered. "It doesn't matter now. If I couldn't get her first kiss, I'll have to get back at JoJo some other way."
Amora quickly pushed herself up onto one knee, nearly tripping on her skirt. "You'll have to what? The boys behind Dio froze, as they both knew her rage well. "Are you saying... that hurting Erina was just some roundabout way to hurt JoJo?" She grabbed Dio's forearm, trying to use him to stand up, but ended up pulling him down into the puddle too. She looked straight into his eyes, smirking. "Ha. I guess you're literally down to my level now."
"You must be that 'Knight' girl I've heard about. Well, you're nothing compared to me." He grabbed her neck and shoved her down into the puddle, laughing as she coughed.
She took ahold of his arm, pulling his hand off her throat and quickly pushing herself up. Grabbing the front of his shirt, she dragged him up with her. "You were going to try to get Erina's first kiss to damage her reputation and lord it over JoJo, right? Well, how would you like it if I just--" She grabbed the back of his head and pulled him to her, forcefully kissing him. Erina and the other two boys gasped. Amora pushed Dio back. "There you go. You couldn't get her first kiss, but you got the Knight's instead. That's a bit more impressive, don't you think?"
Dio's face was red with... anger? Shame? Both? "Maybe. But this is the last time you'll ruin a plan of mine." He swung a punch at her that landed hard on her cheek. Amora stumbled, then spat blood on the ground. She growled "Yeah? How about we bet on that?" and pulled her arm back, ready to punch him square in the gut.
"Amora, stop!" Erina yelled, causing Amora to freeze in place. Instead, she shoved Dio back down to the ground and stomped on his chest.
"Hm, you're right. It's a waste of energy. Besides, I think I've done enough. Dio Brando... the next time you decide to hurt Erina, I'm sure more than your clothes will be ruined." She took her foot off him, smirking at the muddy footprint she'd left on his shirt. She took Erina's hand in one hand and her parasol in the other, and as she passed Dio, she stopped and turned back to him. "Though, I admit you're not bad looking. I don't think I'd have minded as much if you were going to try to kiss me instead."
The boys behind Dio glanced at each other, worried. "She goes to the same school as us. We've seen her fight and win all the time." "Yeah, don't let the frills fool you. She's terrifying."
Dio laughed and brushed some of the dirt off his clothes. "I'm not afraid of her. If that's the best she can do, then she's just an annoyance."
"B-but you saw what she did! Now when you go back home you could have to admit that you got beaten by a girl!" "And if you say why, then that'd be even worse!"
"Oh, I felt it, too. She didn't hurt me- or beat me, for that matter. She's just forceful. There's a difference." He sighed in exasperation, annoyed that he couldn't get rid of the mud all over him. "Well, I don't care. I'm going home."
....He cared. He was angry and even a slight bit ashamed. He made sure that he would be prepared to fight the next time he saw her- it didn't matter that she was a girl. He'd beat her to the ground anyway.
--
"Did... did I really just do that? Did I actually just kiss a boy I barely know?" Amora put her hand to her lips, shocked.
Erina nodded. "You really did. But it was to protect me, so... thank you."
Amora touched her cheek where Dio had punched it, wincing. "Oh no, if Auntie finds out about this..."
Erina looked at her, worried. "Do you want to come over? I'll lend you a clean dress."
"No, it's okay. Besides, Auntie saw what I was wearing when I left." Amora shrugged and smiled at her. "Thank you, though."
--
"Dio? What in the world happened?" Jonathan asked as he looked at Dio's mud-covered clothes. Dio ignored him, but he couldn't hide the evidence of what happened. "And is that a girl's footprint on your chest!?"
"It's none of your business." Dio sneered. He tried to leave as fast as he could to ignore Jonathan's next question, but he couldn't.
"Was that Amora, by chance? Erina's friend? She's the only girl I know that fights, so-"
Dio turned around and glared, cutting him off. "So what if it was? It was just a fight."
Jonathan was silent in awe for a moment. "Are you hurt?"
"No." Dio paused. "No, I'm not. I'm fine. Now leave me alone."
--
"Amora Davies! Did you get into another fight?" Amora's aunt Morgan was waiting for her by the door, and she did not look happy. "Look at you! You ruined your best sundress!"
"Auntie, a boy was going to try to kiss Erina without her permission! I was just protecting her!"
Morgan crossed her arms, glaring at her. "Really? 'Just protecting her'? That's your excuse for every fight. Who was this boy? And did you kiss him in her stead?"
Amora rolled her eyes. "It was Dio Brando. Is that okay, Auntie? Is it okay that I kissed a rich boy?"
"You DID kiss him! It doesn't matter who he is, it still damaged your reputation- and therefore mine as well!"
"Then why did you a--"
"Don't you talk back to me, young lady!" She raised her arm and slapped Amora across the face, which doubled the pain from Dio's punch earlier. Amora winced and thought 'Well, that'll definitely be there in the morning.'
"If it makes you feel any better, you just hurt me more than Dio did during that entire fight." Amora turned and ran upstairs before Morgan could hit her again.
