Work Text:
Working for Recover Girl surely was something that made you feel more important. You were a student at the UA, from class 1-A. One day, during a course, Aizawa saw the way you reacted when someone was hurt and how much you knew about the human body that he recommended you to Recover Girl. She was happy to give you some type of internship.
One day, expecting someone or not, a knocking sound coming from the door drew your attention. The door opened slowly, showing the one who needed something from here.
It was Shinsou Hitoshi. He entered the medical office calmly and closed the door behind him. He had his left hand hidden behind his back. His hair was the first thing you noticed when you saw him for the first time, a long time ago, being so messy that you were starting to wonder how your hands would look in that hair, playing with the strands of his soft hair. The color of Shinsou’s hair was so special that it made you wonder if anyone else could see how that color changed as the sun’s rays were shining on it.
“(Y/N).” Shinsou said your name as it was meant to be a greeting.
His tired eyes watched you lazily like every time, making you feel exposed.
You never saw him here. You wanted to be happy about it, but that could not happen because whoever gets to Recover Girl is wounded. Shinsou noticed your eyes moving rapidly while cautiously searching for any injury and left the hidden hand fall next to his body from his back. Shinsou had a wound on his entire palm and he was bleeding. Your eyes widened at the sight of it.
“Don’t ask.” He referred to the wound, forcing a smile despite the situation.
Hitoshi didn’t even greet or look at Recover girl, walking up straight to you, with his wounded hand in front of you. Shinsou was training more and more lately, but today when he was injured and sent to you he could not but admit that he had wanted to visit this place for a while since he heard that you started this internship, wondering how you will take care of him.
“(Y/N), I need to go to the meeting room, you can manage this, right dear?” Recover Girl questioned you being as sweet as always, getting up from her chair and heading to the door.
“Yes, of course.” You answered hurriedly searching for bandages and disinfectants in different drawers.
The door was closed behind Recover Girl and so you were left alone with Shinsou who was waiting for you, injured and even more stoic than ever.
With that, Shinsou sat quietly on a chair near you, waiting and watching how energetic you were. It was more than usual. You knew how to properly put on a bandage on a wound and treat it but this time, your heart was following a rhythm that was mercilessly fast.
Once you gathered all the things that you needed you sat next to the tall figure of Shinsou and not looking at him knowing how it could make you feel more overwhelmed. You took his wounded hand in yours and you began to put the first layer of gauze over the wound thoroughly. You never noticed how big his palms were. Hell, your hands were shaking.
“Don’t move, Hitoshi.” You told him wanting to mask the trembling, blaming it on him.
“I’m not.” He responded calmly analyzing more than just the details of your face.
Shinsou began to smile quietly.
The way concentration looked on you was making him stare in interest. His gaze was fixed on each part of his skin that was touched by you, lightly and delicately like a feather. Looking at you, his mind was lost into places where he wondered how those hands had slipped on his shoulders and down to his arms, when the insomnia hit you both because he could not fail to notice the bags under your eyes. He wondered how his name would sound in your whispered voice late at night when all the words of others who said that he is not suited to become a hero start to spin into his head, calming him down.
“Please, stop staring.” You mumbled taking a deep breath so you could concentrate.
“Why? Is it bothering you, (Y/N)?” He asked raising an eyebrow, knowing exactly what he was doing to you.
You two met at the UA Sports Festival. Since then, you started to admire him more and more, making you disappear from your classmates in your free time to go to General Studies only to see him or even greet him and ask him how’s it going.
“No.” You answered, continuing your work under his memorizing gaze.
Shinsou tried to get his eyes off from you just so you could calm down, but he couldn’t do it just now. All of those times in which he could see you around and you’d ask how his day was or even giving him a subtle wave while passing by were starting to make him wonder about what he was feeling. On the days when you two wouldn’t greet at all and wouldn’t meet in the halls or at training he was wondering why he felt like something is missing and why was he frustrated when he couldn’t see you.
“If we were during a mission in a hard situation, would I have your permission to use my quirk on you?” He asked bluntly and out of nowhere, looking elsewhere but not your eyes. It all sounded so wrong to him. The question revealed many hidden things from his intention.
You hesitated at his question. You always watched and admired him, not having the courage to say what was on your mind.
You knew what his quirk was about very well, but that never made you righteous to those who thought it was not a proper skill for a hero, always despising them.
“You’re practically asking if I would put my trust in you.” You realized calmly. “Yes, Shinsou. You’d have my permission.” There was no room for doubt when it came to this.
After that response, silence fell over you two in the room and your eyes fell back on the bandages. Shinsou’s eyes were wide open. Why would you trust him? Why would anyone trust him when it came to his quirk?
“Thank you.” He thanked you after a while, pulling away his bandaged hand from yours.
“But, it’s not done.” You protested as you watched him rise leisurely from his chair.
“(Y/N). It’s more than I could ask for.” He responded while looking at the bandage as a work of abstract art, stepping towards the door with his back facing you.
Shinsou put his wounded hand in the pocket of his training suit but did not turn his face towards you stopping for a moment before exiting the medical office.
“When are you finished today?” He asked in a flat tone.
“In about three hours.” You answered still looking at him.
“Good.” He continued, then opened the door, leaving the cabinet with his usual mysterious air.
In the three hours left, you could not help wondering why he left in such a hurry being cold and what that question was about, and you clearly could not help but replay the moment when he entered the door in your mind as well.
When you were finally done, exhausted, you were out on the door. Any other thought was erased from your mind in the next moment in which you saw the image that was in front of you. Shinsou was leaning against a wall facing you, his wounded hand in his pocket. He was dressed in the UA uniform but not the training one and seemed to be waiting for you. How long has he stayed here? The sight of him watching you was enough to affect you once again.
During this time, Shinsou set out every detail of his thoughtful plan. He did not want to admit that something about you had provoked him in a way he had never been before. Something that woke his curiosity and that did not give him peace but would not show it.
“Thank you for earlier.” He said smiling lazily.
He paused looking at you in a way that tells you that he has something going on in his mind.
“I just hope it was fine.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Shinsou said clearly closing that matter in order to move on what was truly important. “(Y/N). Do I still have your permission?” He wondered, unwinding himself off from the wall he was supporting and watching you intensely.
“Y-yes, of course.” You have been constantly thinking of this answer since Shinsou asked you that and your response came almost automatically.
“How sure are you?” He asked and assured himself by testing you again.
“You’re not the bad guy they say you are. I am totally sure, I trust you and I trust that you are going to be an amazing hero. No doubt about that.”
Shinsou’s body froze at the hearing of this word, hero, feeling his heart could get out of his chest because of its strong beating. You said hero, not villain.
“Hero.” he repeated that word for himself feeling how his head revolves around that single word that you said.
You gave him your permission.
“Then, with your permission…” Shinsou started not wanting to waste a single moment after what you said to him. “Move your body towards mine.” He commanded you.
You suddenly felt your body start moving from a warm impulse towards him. It was something about his ability that made it feel so real.
“Stop.” He stopped you when you were close enough “And now…” He said putting a hand on your shoulder. “Do my bidding and kiss me.” he whispered.
You leaned in and embraced his face in your hands, sticking your lips to them. Shinsou lowered his hand to your hip, while the other hand was lost in your hair. His lips tasted like strong coffee.
Even so, what you didn’t know was that, what you thought it would be his ability, was just your mind. He did not use the quirk on you at all. Everything happened only because both of you desired the same thing and the right words were said.
The movements of Shinsou’s lips seemed to control you as well as his quirk, and the embrace of his hands on your hip and the back of your neck made you feel as weak as a simple marionette under his touch.
Shinsou was feeling so pleased with what had happened and that’s why he broke the kiss, only to look back into your eyes to save that moment. He was so overwhelmed by the fact that somebody trusted him and the hero he wanted to become, but he did not show it and managed to stay calm but with a smile on his lips, wanting to have you only for him.
After that moment, in order to still keep his guard up, Shinsou let his backpack fall off from his shoulders to offer you something he wanted to give you right after you took care of him. He revealed a warm thermos that smelled of coffee from his backpack.
“Have this, I saw your tired and well-known insomniac eyes.” He said handing the coffee to you and with the other hand going to the back of his neck.
“You too, right?” You ask laughing, referring to the lack of sleep you both seem to share.
“Yes. Welcome to the no sleep club.”
