Work Text:

“Let me get this straight…” Hatsume started.

All Hagakure could think was, Oh my god, I am so not straight.

“...so you're invisible and you want an outfit upgrade. The hell am I supposed to do, a glass dress?”

“Uhhh…” Hagakure mumbled. Luckily, Ashido had come with her.

“Mei, I think she means something like invisible cloth. Could you do something like that?” Ashido asked.

Hatsume shook her head. Her pink dreadlocks bounced as she moved. “I'm afraid that’s beyond my capabilities. Try talking to Power Loader.”

“I wonder what dancing in a glass dress would be like…” Hagakure wondered aloud.

Ashido and Hatsume stared at her. There was an awkward silence. “That'd probably be uncomfortable. Who do you want to dance with?” Hatsume asked, after a few uncomfortable seconds.

You , Hagakure thought. But she couldn't say that, not yet.

“Ah, nobody… I don't know, I wasn't thinking of anyone in particular,” Hagakure lied. “We should be going back to class, Mina-chan.”

“Okay, Tooru! See ya later, Mei!”

“See you,” Hatsume replied.

A few months passed, and soon it was Valentine's Day.

Towards the end of lunch, Hagakure rushed off to the Support Department.

“Um, Hatsume-chan? There's something I wanted to talk to you about,” Hagakure mumbled.

Hatsume turned around and gave her a quizzical look. “Hm? What is it?”

“Well, I…” Hagakure mumbled, face turning red. “I kind of like you, Hatsume-chan…”

Hatsume looked blankly at Hagakure. “Sorry… I like someone else,” she muttered.

Hagakure gripped her shoulder bag and nodded. “I see.” She turned around slowly and walked away, her glass heart broken.

“Didn't work out, huh?” Ashido asked. The two girls were lying on the couch.

Hagakure sighed and leaned her head on Ashido’s shoulder. “No… but that's okay, I guess.”

Ashido smiled. “I think it'll be fine. You don't need Mei to make you happy. After all, I like you!”

“Ah! Really?” Hagakure squeaked.

Nodding, Ashido replied, “Yep! I've liked you for a while, but I want you to be happy. I understand if you don't feel the same way.”

“No, I do! I think I'll be happy with you. Hatsume-chan was just… I don't know, but I like you as well,” Hagakure said. Her voice was very rushed. She took some time to catch her breath. “I really like you, Mina-chan!”

Ashido smiled brightly. “I like you too, Tooru.”

The funny thing about glass is if you shatter it, a bit of warmth and kindness will melt it back together.
