Author's notes: Post season 9, but no real spoilers.
I blame this entirely on reading all those wonderful Five things-fics in LJ's SG-arena.
1. Take Sam hiking through the Garden of the Gods from early dawn till wee hours in the morning; strolling around, holding hands, eating sandwiches at viewpoints, talking about everything and nothing, laying back in the evening and admiring the view of the Universe.
2. Get two, brand new bicycles and go cycling with Teal’c. The big guy learned how to ride in his second year on Earth; something to do with a bet and Feretti. There has never been enough time for a simple day off, so they would go with no particular direction in sight, enjoy the feel of wind on their faces and appreciate the here and now. And if Teal’c’s everlasting control would slip for just a moment and he’d say “Daniel” instead of “DanielJackson”, it would be treasured and never mentioned in the remaining days.
3. Take Vala and Mitchell (or, hire Mitchell to help him take Vala) to an amusement park. And, hearing them laugh out loud, just for a day, he would be able to imagine they are just siblings having fun on their day off; maybe.
4. Spend a day with Cassie - ice cream, caffees, the ZOO, shopping, movies... visit Janet’s grave at the end of the day, to say “I love you” and give Cassie a shoulder to cry on for the first and the last time since her mother died.
5. Get Jack to visit him in the Springs. After all the others, at the very end, because it all started with them anyway, several lifetimes ago. They would barbecue in the backyard, drink beer, clumsily bake cookies; talk about stuff which they like, not the stuff thay have to do; watch The Simpsons and dissect The Mummy, and gaze at the stars though the telescope with the sounds of Wagner and Sarah McLachlan drifting around them like a fine mist. And if, just before going to bed in the middle of the night, Jack would get all quiet and serious, and hug Daniel like there was no tomorrow (because there really wouldn’t be, and Jack always knew what Daniel thought), mumbling the words like proud and love and family and dammit, Daniel would know they would be okay, eventually.
