The light shines upon the room through the opened window, Karamatsu groans and groggily covers his eyes from the blinding light. He wants to sleep more, but the morning sunshine signals him to wake up. Forcefully he tries to get himself to sit up. He stretches his arms as he yawns trying to somehow wake up his body from its deep slumber. Karamatsu drowsily looked around the room, the sunshine really lighted the room well. He lightly chuckles to himself at the realization as he looked beside him, he last one to wake up, none of his brothers are there in the futon with him, usually he would be the second or the third one to wake up, something like this only happens once in a blue moon.
Traditionally if either one of them is the last one to wake up, they will end up having the responsibility to tidy up the futon and set it aside at their closet. Karamatsu whined to himself as he stands up, he hates this, he is lazy and he knows this, everyone knows this, being a lazy NEET himself.
Karamatsu shuffled his way off the futon, he collects all of the pillows one by one and slowly stacking them all inside the closet not wanting it to fall over, he then went to the end of the futon, he kneels down as he carefully starts folding their futon, he rolls it up and finally putting it aside at the closet with their pillows. Karamatsu huffs, he is actually proud of himself for doing such chores despite his laziness.
Karamatsu make his way downstairs to the dining room, hoping to greet his brothers good morning like he usually does. Dramatically he slams open the sliding door, he was expecting his brothers to be there doing their usual antics but he is only greeted by his mother sitting at the dining table.
“Oh Karamatsu, you’re finally awake” Matsuyo chimes with a smile as she sips her tea.
“Mommy, where are the others?” Karamatsu asked as he walks to the dining table, sitting down with his mother.
Matsuyo settles down her tea “They all just left a little while ago while you were still asleep”
“I have saved you some breakfast, let me just get it for you at the refrigerator” Karamatsu watches her mother stands up and walks toward their kitchen.
Karamatsu just sighed, without his brothers he really has nothing else to do, so he just waits for his mother to come back for his breakfast.
After some few minutes Matsuyo finally comes back with some hot steaming omelet, she sets it down in front of Karamatsu also with some chopsticks and tea. Karamatsu is already salivating from the sight and smell of food just before his eyes, without such hesitation, he thanked for the food and quickly digs in. Matsuyo just chuckles at the sight.
“Karamatsu, do you know what today is?” Matsuyo questioned, Karamatsu stops in between his feast and beams a smile.
“Of course, it’s me and Ichimatsu’s anniversary”
Karamatsu and Ichimatsu has been in a relationship for quite some time now, their parents of course are very quite aware of their relationship, at first they couldn’t bear to see that both of their sons to be together in such a way, but as times passes they eventually accepted it and actually supported their affair. Today is actually their first anniversary and Karamatsu is very happy for this day, he is so proud that he is such a good boyfriend for Ichimatsu, there were ups and downs and despite all of that they are still together and strong.
Matsuyo adjusts her huge circled spectacles as she still watches her son finishes his breakfast. “So, what are your plans for today?” Karamatsu stops to think as he hums.
“We actually talked about this before so maybe just something simple in the usual place, it depends, Ichimatsu doesn’t really want anything too big for a surprise” He knows that Ichimatsu deserves more, he deserves more than anything that he can think of, he wants to spoil his Ichimatsu with everything he has, heck he can’t even say no when Ichimatsu wants something, Ichimatsu would just say the words and for sure with no delay, Karamatsu will do it in a heartbeat, that’s how much loving he really is. Karamatsu takes a final bite of his meal, he sighs in relief that finally he cured his hunger.
Matsuyo shakes her head in disagreement “No, no, no, this is a special day for the both of you” his mother suddenly reached out something with her hand, Karamatsu’s eyes widen in such surprise, it was money, like a lot of money. Karamatsu couldn’t accept such a hefty amount.
“Take it, it’s okay, it’s for you and Ichimatsu, so go now and prepare” Matsuyo smiled ever so motherly, Karamatsu hesitantly takes it from her hands, there were evident tears in his eyes, he is already at the edge of crying.
“M-mommy!!! I have no words.. I-I’ll pay back I promise!!” Karamatsu wails out, he is holding on to the money with his shaking hands, he couldn’t believe to hold on to such amount, he can already imagine the things that he can buy for his precious Ichimatsu for their special day.
“Just go and prepare already, I’m sure Ichimatsu will be waiting” Matsuyo laughs, honestly, she wasn’t really expecting this kind of reaction from his son, well he is Karamatsu, an emotional and a flamboyant mess.
Karamatsu quickly nodded his head and wiped off some tears from the corners of his eyes. As swift as the wind, he dashed upstairs to their room to change his pajamas. He quickly strips off his clothing and immediately reached out his signature fashion style. Karamatsu slips on his favorite leather jacket, he checks himself at the mirror making sure that he will look flawless today, he makes few adjustments to his hair with a comb and lightly fix up his jacket, it’s so soft to the touch he loves it.
That leather jacket is so valuable to him, it holds on so many illustrious memories, one that he’ll never ever forget is when his beloved Ichimatsu tried on this very leather jacket, that day was such a calamity, but that’s when it all started, that’s when he felt so much closer to Ichimatsu.
Karamatsu hastily bid good bye to his mother and made his way outside.
He can feel it, he can feel that today is going to be a really good day, how can it not be? Today is their anniversary and he has quite a good amount of money to spend for their special day. He first stops by at a cake shop, he knows too well that Ichimatsu has a sweet tooth, so he is buying as much as he can, especially his favorites like those strawberry flavored cat pawed shaped cake pops, he remembers Ichimatsu wonderful glee when he took a first bite of it, that was the time that Karamatsu saw how innocent looking Ichimatsu is despite his tenebrous demeanor. Karamatsu enters the cake shop and is welcomed with warm air, inside was immersed with the smell of newly baked pastries and bread, it is so lively and ever so vibrant with the workers getting all ready. He looked through the delicate displays of cakes with its unique designs and such, there was one that really caught his eyes, it was a cat shaped cake with different berry flavorings, his mouth was opened ajar, and immediately he knows that Ichimatsu will totally love this.
Karamatsu immediately pointed to the cashier some of the cake pops, some other kinds of good looking sweet, also the cake that he wanted, and of course, before he will forget, he requested to write down in the cake “Happy Anniversary” It’s a bit too corny and maybe cringy but it’s their first anniversary so he got to make the best of it.
The cashier came back with a velvet box and a paper bag, Karamatsu gives his thanks to the cashier and pays the right amount, the sweets are now all set.
As he walks through the town, within his sights, he can see a flower shop. Karamatsu has been seeing this flower shop for a while now, he could only just bask in the sights and alluring scent in shop’s whole variety of flowers and such that is in display just outside, he couldn’t really afford a bouquet before, he would just pick flowers by the park and just makes his own, but now it’s going to be different, now that he has some money he can finally buy a beautiful bouquet even just this once.
Karamatsu enters the shop with a ding of a bell, the sights inside the shop is breathtaking, there were rows and columns of shelves and cabinets displaying all sorts of flowers and buds blossoming with different hues of colors, some were even rather exotic to be known, there not only flowers but also different assortments of plants and orchids that makes the place more lively, the atmosphere is so vibrant and welcoming, the diverse scent from the flowers flooded Karamatsu’s nostrils, he takes in a slow inhalation, it was so relaxing, there were even butterflies fluttering around making the place look even much more heavenly. Karamatsu walks around admiring the shop, marveling each and every kind of flowers that his eyes lay upon.
“Hello sir good morning, how can I help you?”
The sudden greeting startles Karamatsu even almost dropping the cake and sweets in hand. A young man probably a few years younger than Karamatsu greeted him with a smile. Karamatsu is frantically looking for words to say, he doesn’t exactly know what to mutter out.
“A b-bouquet please?”
The young man nodded. “What kind of a bouquet exactly? For a girlfriend? No worries my man I got you” The young man clicks his tongue as he also playfully winks at Karamatsu.
“No, it’s actuall-” Karamatsu didn’t even get a chance to talk, he was about to correct him but alas the young man immediately left and quickly do his work, he just brushes it off and just continues his sightseeing through the shop.
“All done!” The young man proudly announces as he reaches out the beautifully made bouquet, Karamatsu just gasps, it was adorned with light colored flowers, the wrapping is even perfect. He knows for sure Ichimatsu will love this. Quickly, Karamatsu paid the young man with the right price, it’s a little costly but it’s all worth it for Ichimatsu.
A cake, some sweets and a bouquet, everything is complete now for Karamatsu’s precious Ichimatsu, he can already see the smile on Ichimatsu’s face when he will see these, he is so excited. Karamatsu quickens his pace to their meeting place, it is a little far but if it’s for Ichimatsu, nothing is impossible for him.
Karamatsu finally arrives. The area is a small clearing right by the city, it is just filled with wild grass and some few flowers that decorate the steppe, it is so peaceful and quiet. Karamatsu feels the gentle wind that softly blows in his face leaving its cold touch, this is really a perfect haven for them, just away from people, and just the two of them alone, at the middle of the clearing there’s a small little hill, that’s the place where both of them get their alone time together.
As Karamatsu walks closer to the small hill, he can already see Ichimatsu there sitting, waiting for him. Karamatsu is already beaming with so much excitement, he started to run holding on to his gifts.
“Ichimatsu!!” Karamatsu calls out as he is getting nearer to the top of the small hill, and there he is, Ichimatsu, sitting ever so wonderfully still, feeling the cold wind brush upon him, he looks so perfect, that’s what Karamatsu always thinks.
“Ichimatsu, I’m so sorry I’m late, I just decided to walk my way here” Ichimatsu didn’t reply. Karamatsu just smiled understandingly.
“Hey I got you something, I got your favorites! I even got us cake! Mommy gave me money for our anniversary isn’t that great?” Karamatsu proudly showed his gifts to him one by one, but still, no reply from Ichimatsu.
Karamatsu just sighs, he carefully sets down his gifts right beside Ichimatsu and sat beside him at the soft grass feeling the cold breeze with him. He sadly looks at Ichimatsu. Softly, he touches him, tracing, up and down.
He is cold to the touch..
“Happy 1st anniversary.. Ichimatsu”
“I miss you”
