Work Text:
It’s quiet. Almost silent if it had not been for the choir of crickets chirping just outside of Chaoyang’s window. His room was dimly lit by a lamp on his nightstand, and the moonlight that leaked through his window. The past week had been nothing but busy for him and his bandmates, and just being home felt like a blessing. While it was only a little after nine, he felt like he could fall asleep on his feet.
He sat perched on the end of his bed, undoing his braid and allowing his hair to fall softly onto his shoulders. As far as he was aware, the rest of his bandmates were either still out doing their own work or already asleep. He had passed by Leon’s room when coming home, and was able to hear his loud snores from the other side of the door. He smiled to himself at the image of his bandmate sprawled out on his bed snoring as loudly as ever.
All four of them made him smile just by living their daily lives.
A knock on his door made him jolt up, breaking his train of thought. He couldn’t think of anyone else who would have been awake but him, but he got off his bed regardless and slowly opened his door. He was more than just a little surprised when he opened up and saw Rabi smiling down at him softly, he wasn’t scheduled to come home until past eleven, and yet…
“Chaoyang,” Rabi’s voice is soft, inviting. Chaoyang opens his door up the rest of the way before Rabi could even ask his question. They had been sleeping together as of late, finding it easier to rest well while basking in each others company. He looked like he had just come home himself, still in his clothes from that days work and worn out just about as much as he was. “You don’t have to ask, Rabi… You can come in.” Chaoyang stepped aside, wandering over to his clothes drawers and plucking out a pair of the others sleep pants and a plain white sleep shirt. He’d kept a few spare pairs of his own sleeping clothes in Rabi’s room as well, making it easier on the both of them when they came home each night.
He could hear the door shutting softly behind him as Rabi let himself into the room, and as he finished gathering his bandmates clothes up and handing them over, he’d already started getting undressed. Chaoyang was used to it by this point, the two of them didn’t hide anything from each other, and while they had never verbally acknowledged their feelings... Chaoyang knew that there was silent recognition between the both of them of their shared feelings. He personally saw no reason to over complicate things by labeling their relationship, as it would only serve to make things harder for them overall. There was a bit of an obstacle if they were to ever get into an official relationship anyway, so keeping things quiet this way was perfect.
Chaoyang crawled up and underneath his blankets, waiting for Rabi to join him. It wasn’t long, and once the larger boy joined him under the covers, he curled up close to him, resting his head on the others chest and letting out a quiet sigh of content. Chaoyang blinks his eyes shut as Rabi reaches over to shut the lamps light off, only to blink them back open at the feeling of his bandmates lips on the top of his head.
“Sleep well, Chaoyang.”
“...Sleep well, Rabi.”
With their short exchange out of the way, Chaoyang felt himself drift off, lulled into a deep sleep slowly, his breath matching Rabi’s as he did.
If he had the energy left in him, he would have ended their exchange with a simple, effective.
I love you.
