Work Text:

"I'll email you when I get there."
Tsubomi waved one last time before closing the door to the taxi with a thud. Emi waved back, tiptoeing slightly.
"Tell me your address and I'll come visit you sometime!" Emi yelled, waving at the moving car while batting away dust from her face at the same time. Tsubomi turned in the backseat of the car to look at Emi through the back window of the car, smiling and giving one final small wave before sitting down properly..

Dear Tsubomi,

How are you holding up? I hope you're fitting in well at school. You probably are, with how cute you are it's impossible to not fall in love with you~ Last day of school probably proved that for you, didn't it? Sorry to all those boys you had to reject because of me. Kind of.

Anyway, I'm starting a new story. The one I was writing wasn't working, I got stuck for a month after last year's student council election on it. What my new story is about is a secret, but I've taken inspiration from a few people I know for a couple of characters. One of them is really pretty, guess who it's based off of? Haha.

Best of wishes from your girl Emi xx

Emi, I thought I was giving you my address so you could visit me, not send letters! How romantic of you...

Speaking of romance, I haven't gotten any love letters yet... which is good. It's only been two weeks though, maybe they don't know where my shoe locker is.

By the way, don't waste your money on stamps! I appreciate the gesture but you'll have no money by the end of the school year to treat me to coffee. I'm kidding, save up your money to buy yourself something special.

Love, your girlfriend Tsubomi :*

Sweet of you, but once I get published I'll definitely sell enough to buy all the coffees you want! Just kidding.

I should have added a heart at the end of my last letter, so I would be your first love letter in the new year. <3

We have a dog now! His name is Jirou. Also, I'll be free to visit you this weekend, so clear your schedule, okay?

Please wait for me at the train station. Enclosed is a picture of Jirou.
Love, Emi.

I'm excited! I know a few good cafés we can visit, and we can also go to a nearby park or library. I know how much you love books. Please tell me all about yours when we meet up~ You can even sleep over if you'd like to.

Jirou is very cute! I want to buy him something with you when we go out.

School's been okay, I already have a friend group, and some letters. Haha~ I have to start studying for high school entrance exams this year, but that doesn't mean I'll ever skip out on emailing you (or rather, me emailing you and you stubbornly using snail mail.) I keep all the letters you send me in a drawer.

See you soon!

The train pulled up to the station and its doors opened with a familiar hiss. Tsubomi craned her neck over the small Saturday crowd exiting the train and caught sight of a familiar brown plaid scarf. She waved so that Emi would notice her, standing nearby the vending machine.
"Tsubomi! I missed you," said Emi, spotting Tsubomi and embracing her. "How come you never send me letters?"
Tsubomi giggled. "I can't write as well as you, Emi... It's a waste to send a letter if it's boring to read."
"Your emails aren't boring though; in fact, I think they're better than my letters. Anyway, where shall we go?"
Tsubomi placed a finger on her cheek in thought, "Would you like to go to a café? There's one a few blocks away that's really nice. I'll treat you to a slice of cake or something, if you want."
Emi smiled. "Sounds good to me. Oh, hang on," she said, shucking the knapsack off her shoulders and rummaging around in it. Paper rustled and stationery clacked inside before she pulled out a small plain white box. "I got this for you, since we don't have any cute couple stuff yet..."

Inside the box was a charm bracelet, with a silver coloured rose charm on it. "Mine has a leaf on it, see?" Emi said, lifting her left arm, a bracelet with a silver leaf charm dangling from it, the afternoon light glinting off of it. "I don't think it's actually silver, but it's still pretty cute. Do you like it? You get the flower, of course, for your beauty."

"If that were the case, your bracelet should have a hundred flowers," answered Tsubomi. She slipped it on her right wrist and beamed, "It's adorable, thank you! Now let's get going, shall we?"

They clasped hands and left the station.
