Belated Confession

Summary:

He tried not to sigh at how pathetic he had become. Like one of those stupid and oblivious main characters from one of Sawamura’s beloved shoujo mangas.

Notes:

Please be gentle. First fic, fingers crossed.

Work Text:

Trying to listen in on Kuramochi’s conversation while making sure he doesn’t burn the fish he is currently cooking was harder than Kazuya thought it would.

Like always, it had been Kazuya’s chore to cook, while Kuramochi was in charge of cleaning, even if he also sucked at that. Usually, while Kazuya was cooking, Kuramochi would move over to the small but comfortable living room and just hang out. He would either turn on the TV for some current news, whatever live game was on, or he would take out whatever DS game he was currently hooked on and just lay on the couch and play.

Kazuya, who had been used to cooking alone, found this to be oddly welcoming and if he could admit to his own self and not voice out, endearing. Kazuya hadn’t really noticed how oppressive and daunting the silence was before moving in with Kuramochi, whom tended to stomp his way around their small apartment.

Now though, Kuramochi had turned down the volume to whatever idol group was currently singing so he could talk on the phone.

That person being Sawamura.

The one guy Kazuya had made it his mission to stay away from ever since he graduated and left Seido.

After going off to college, Kazuya had a hard time keeping in touch with Sawamura. Mostly because he tried to put some distance between them.

But it was hard. Miyuki found himself daydreaming about him. Every time he saw something funny while walking to class he’d wonder what stupid face he would pull in either wonder or pissed off if he didn’t get it.

When those thoughts happened he tried to shake them off. It didn’t matter what he felt or the fact that at one point he thought Sawamura and him were moving towards something. Once Okumura came into their lives everything changed.

It wasn’t all at once. In the beginning the changes were small, stupid things. Sawamura would look for Okumura at breakfast or would invite him to run with him.

But then he moved to, Hey, Okumura, want to catch for me? Instead of asking for Kazuya like he used to.

Sure, Kazuya knew that one of the driving factors behind this was because Kazuya had been told to dedicate more practice time with Furuya, but still. And when Sawamura first sat down next to Okumura at breakfast, Kazuya couldn’t help but glare at them.

It wasn’t until Kuramochi hit him upside the head with a quiet, Stop being so obvious, that Kazuya turned his focus to his then cold food.

After that Sawamura and him still talked even if Sawamura was being friendlier with Okumura, but things weren’t the same.

After a while the conversations became more stilted until they fell into their old meaningless banter instead of the more heart-to-heart they had recently been moving towards. Where Sawamura would talk about his childhood with his loving family and Kazuya, well he tried. He would talk about some of his other pastimes and Sawamura just knew he was trying and he would listen without judgment. Sawamura was just happy to be able to talk to him. The feeling was mutual and it was, well, nice.

But they stopped once Sawamura got friendlier with Okumura. And especially when Kazuya noticed that Okumura started to look differently at Sawamura. How he would sometimes start the conversations instead of Sawamura. And how Sawamura didn’t have to work so hard to get the guy to open up.

Maybe Sawamura just liked to change people? Maybe he liked the difficult ones, the reserved and hard to crack ones and he would later get bored and move on? But a part of Kazuya knew that wasn’t it. But it was easier to just blame Sawamura, try to forget and move on.

It’s not like they were really going somewhere anyways.

Then came graduation and even though Kazuya found himself wanting to say something, he didn’t. What’s the point? He had no idea what Sawamura’s plans were after graduation and frankly he was tired of all the distracting drama.

Even after they grew distant the past few months, saying goodbye was still hard. Kazuya expected Sawamura to shed a few tears for Kuramochi and some of the other graduates, but was caught off guard when Sawamura hugged him.

He grabbed Kazuya and pressed his tearful face against Kazuya’s chest and stayed there for what felt like hours. Kazuya found himself wanting to take him away and just talk again, like they used to before, before everything changed. But like he had come to do lately, he did nothing.

Kazuya did his best to ignore the other graduates stares, especially Kuramochi’s knowing one, and tried to act nonchalant if a little annoyed as he patted Sawamura’s back. Still, he was finally enjoying the warmth he had only ever fantasized about and was determined to soak it all in.

Also, the fact that Okumura was near and wasn’t hiding his displeasure had Kazuya give Okumura a haughty grin.

After the hug Sawamura was barely able to look him in the eye and was quick to try and hug Kuramochi next. Kuramochi responded by catching Sawamura in a “friendly” headlock, making Sawamura cry for mercy.

And once Kazuya and the other graduates said their goodbyes, they left, leaving their high school baseball behind and moving to other things, be it college baseball or pro.

It was a new environment that Kazuya had to quickly adapt to. He had a hard time with the change and was honestly grateful with Kuramochi’s presence, even if he would never admit it. But one thing that hurt was not having Sawamura’s loud voice in the background or his oblivious but happy grins that he would let out at every opportunity.

Kazuya tried to ignore how it hurt not having Sawamura reach out to him. So why should he reach out? Besides, he had already decided to leave all that behind once he left Seido.

Even if that hug had given him a small spark of hope. God, he was such a sap.

After ending the call Kuramochi turned to Kazuya with an annoying and arrogant grin.

“You were listening in, right? You heard it was Sawamura and you couldn’t help yourself.” He let out that grating hyena laugh as if it was all a funny joke.

Kazuya calmly raised an eyebrow. “And how could I not since you decided to talk in that screeching voice right next to me?” Kazuya managed to keep impassive look on as Kuramochi studied him.

Kuramochi shrugged, “Whatever. Listen, Sawamura called to invite us all to a game. It’s only a practice game but he asked the others and we are all free this weekend.”

Kazuya shrugged, “He didn’t call me, so I guess—“

“Shut up,” Kuramochi cut him off with a glare, “you’re going. Even if I have to drag your ass by force.”

Kazuya huffed, irritated and sadly a bit excited to have an excuse to see him again. Even if it did piss him off that Sawamura had called Kuramochi and not him. He had called all the others and not him. What? Did he lose his number?

He tried not to sigh at how pathetic he had become. Like one of those stupid and oblivious main characters from one of Sawamura’s beloved shoujo mangas.

Trying to cover his internal struggle, Kazuya leered at Kuramochi. “I always knew you were after my ass.”

Kuramochi blushed and flipped him off muttering about how he had no idea how this guy had so many fans. Kuramochi turned to go to his bedroom before he abruptly stopped. “And one more thing,” Kuramochi smirked, Kazuya gave him an impassive look, “the fish is burning.”

“Shit!” Kazuya glared at the betraying fish while trying to save it and burning himself in the process.

Kuramochi’s irritating laugh had Kazuya thinking on how to get back at him.

Later that night Kuramochi’s screams could be heard as he found a huge spider in his underwear drawer before he realized it was very convincing toy.

The day of the game Kazuya tried to weasel himself out of it, but learning that Chris would be there made him go. It had been a while since they saw each other.

Since Sawamura was playing it was almost a given Chris would go, so it shouldn’t have been such a surprise. Sawamura and Chris still kept in touch and Chris would always have a soft spot for the southpaw.

And so what if Sawamura kept in contact with Chris and the others? Kazuya didn’t care. It’s not like he really wanted to keep in touch with him.

Sure, Kazuya kept tabs on Seido’s games, but that was because he was curious of the team as a whole, not just to see and feel slightly proud of Sawamura’s rightfully earned Ace number.

Going to see the game had Kazuya’s blood boiling. He barely said ‘hi’ to Chris and the others present before he found himself searching for Sawamura on the field.

“Can you be any more obvious?” Kuramochi whispered with a pitying shake of his head.

Kazuya pretended he didn’t hear him but did try to act cool.

“Let him be. It’s been a while since we’ve seen him pitch,” Chris said with a sigh.

Kazuya barely spared them an annoyed glance, which was hard to do since Chris was beside him and Kuramochi sat in front of them, cursing the fact that they were so perceptive.

Suddenly Sawamura came into view and he had to stop himself from walking towards the field.

“OSHI, OSHI, OSHI!” came Sawamura’s war cry. The crowd responded with the same cry, which only made Sawamura’s grin brighter.

“Jeez, does he ever shut up?” Kuramochi said.

“He’d explode if couldn’t yell. He’s such an idiot,” Kazuya said. If he had a fond smile he tried to hide it by turning away from them.

Jun-san, who had also been asked to come said, “I hope he does something worth watching since he kept insisting we all come.”

“Well at least you were actually invited,” Kazuya muttered. The others gave an exasperated look. They had all noticed how their relationship slowly grew more awkward as time passed and were disappointed how neither of them made the effort to talk.

“Well he did invite you through me, so shut the hell up and watch the damn game.”

Kazuya casually glanced as he “accidently” spilled a bit of his drink on Kuramochi.

“You bastard!” Kuramochi stood, glaring at Kazuya.

“Oops.” Kazuya couldn’t help but give a cool and superior look.

“Both of you be quiet and watch the game,” came Tetsu’s stern command. They both sat up straight with a “Sorry.”

After that, watching the game play out and not being allowed/able to be across Sawamura, calling his pitches, was harder than he thought it would be.

The other ex-Seido players kept reminiscing about their past games while Kazuya could only sit and stew quietly.

Kazuya then noticed Chris giving him a worried look. “What?”

“I was going to ask you that. You keep glaring at Sawamura whenever he’s about to pitch.”

Kazuya grinned. “I just can’t wait to see him trip or something. It doesn’t matter if he’s the ace, he’s still an idiot.”

Kuramochi laughed the hardest at that while the others couldn’t help but chuckle. Chris on the other hand just shook his head.

Kazuya tried to ignore the feeling of having disappointed Chris in some way.

After a particularly loud shout from Sawamura, praising Kominato’s amazing catching skill, made Kazuya turn back to the game.

He thought he had already made peace with the fact that they could no longer play together. They were on different teams and all that, but he had never felt so jealous before.

Then Ryouske asked, “What do you think about Sawamura’s current pitching? Has he gotten better? Or worse? You should know since you used to be his old battery partner.” He grinned. “Before Okumura that is.”

A heavy silence fell on their little group. Most just tried to act like they’re focusing on the game, while others just couldn’t seem to act disinterested.

Kazuya shrugged. “The same I feel about Furuya. He’s gotten better, but he still has things to work on.”

The others felt like that’s a good enough answer since they turned back to the game. Kazuya on the other hand wondered if he could find a way to get back at Ryouske without earning his wrath too much.

Then that moment came.

The moment Sawamura pitched that familiar fastball into Okumura’s awaiting mitt, winning the game and making the crowd go wild once again.

Kazuya could swear that the moment the ball hit the catcher’s mitt all other noise disappeared and there was only the echoing sound of that perfect pitch.

Also the fact that Sawamura had seemed to turn to Kazuya, finding him with ease, as if he had felt Kazuya’s astonished and proud look made Kazuya’s face break into a fond grin. Sawamura broke their locked gaze in order to dramatically bow to the crowd and give another dramatic war cry. It wasn’t until he was ambushed by his teammates that he shut up.

Most of the ex-Seido players screamed at him to stop being so dramatic. It was only a practice game. Kazuya on the other hand tried to get rid of the warm smile on his face, all the while trying to calm his raising heartbeat.

Before the group leaves to meet up with the current first string, Kuramochi turned around and gave him an unreadable look, one that Kazuya promptly ignored.

A quick shower later had Sawamura be Kuramochi’s victim after a long time. “Don’t go thinking you’re hot stuff just because you won this game, Sawamura! You still have ways to go!” Kuramochi said as he wrestled Sawamura to the ground.

Those gathered, even Chris, laughed at their antics, having missed their old routine.

Kazuya for his part was glad to have an excuse to not talk to Sawamura yet. And he was also glad to be able to silently admire Sawamura’s small physical changes. From his stronger defined jaw line, to his slightly darker tanned complexion.

“Sawamura-senpai,” Okumura said as he approached the little reunion. Kazuya tried not to scowl at his sudden arrival. “We have to review the game.” Sawamura stepped a bit away from the other ex-Seido members and started nodding as one of his mischievous smiles took over, one that had Kazuya’s blood boiling as if they were about to take on a strong opponent together.

Even if Okumura’s face was hidden from them Kazuya could tell he probably mirrored Sawamura’s expression, in a more tone down version.

After all this time Okumura had changed after being forced to be Sawamura’s battery partner.

Okumura still carried that same annoyed look, the only difference being his small, slight smile at Sawamura’s bright grin.

Seeing them talking so easily made Kazuya regret not trying harder in Seido. For having let go of Sawamura so easily. But he still couldn’t help but blame Sawamura for trading his mitt for Okumura’s without a second thought.

“We’ll review later. I want to catch up with Chris-senpai and the others.” Kazuya thought he imagined Sawamura’s quick and eager look his way and tried to stop his trembling hands at that look.

Furuya, who had a slight injury and hadn’t been able to play, had been talking to Kazuya and after a few, “Miyuki-senpai!” Kazuya turned around and tried to focus on the now glaring Furuya.

Kazuya made up for this by giving Furuya some pointers in how to take better care of his shoulder so he wouldn’t get injured again.

Still, Kazuya couldn’t help but notice as Okumura frown as he took his leave and Sawamura’s excited rant had the rest of the current first string members leaving on their own.

A few others, some being Kominato, Furuya and Kanemaru, stayed behind to catch up with their retired senpais.

After much debating the group of retired and current Seido players decided to go out and have fun. They decided on a karaoke place that was only a short bus ride away. Some just really wanted to see Tetsu sing an idol song.

The group broke off into smaller groups of two or threes as they made their way to the bus stop.

A casual Kazuya and an excited Sawamura stuck close to Chris, leaving him in the middle and using him as a buffer for their conversation. Which mostly was Kazuya laughing at whatever Sawamura was excitedly talking about, causing him to yell and threaten Kazuya with bodily harm. Just like old times.

Closing in on the bus stop, Sawamura reached behind Chris and grabbed Kazuya’s wrist, bringing him to a stop. Kazuya felt a burning heat engulf him in less than a second and his stomach tied itself in countless knots the moment skin-to-skin contact happened.

Chris stopped and raised a questioning eyebrow.

“Um… I need to tie my shoelaces,” Sawamura said as he let go of Kazuya and bent over to fiddle with his shoes.

“You go on ahead, Chris-senpai. No need to have you both wait for me.” He didn’t even look at them, but they could both see the tips of Sawamura’s ears turning red.

“And why should I be the one to wait for you, idiot?” Kazuya had no idea how he was able to give his cheeky grin. “Especially since they’re both already tied.”

Sawamura just stared at his shoes, a slight tremble visible to both of them. “SHUT UP, STUPID MIYUKI KAZUYA!”

Chris and Kazuya slightly cringed at the loud tone, not being exposed to it for some time, which made it hard to withstand again. But Sawamura’s embarrassed yelling calmed Kazuya down a bit, realizing he was still able to rile him up.

“All right, then. Good luck,” Chris said with a small smile before walking away.

Kazuya could feel his face heating up and was thankful Sawamura was still bent over his perfectly tied shoes.

Sawamura seemed to wait until the rest of their group boarded the bus, all before Kuramochi gave Kazuya a last exasperated look and left without them. That’s when Sawamura stood up with a challenging stance about him.

“Okayyy?” Kazuya hid his tightly clenched fists in his jacket pockets, hoping to appear aloof and in control of the situation.

Sawamura let out a determined huff before once again grabbing Kazuya by his wrist and roughly dragged him to a secluded and disgusting alley.

Kazuya’s heartbeat speed up and his mouth dried up as soon as Sawamura pushed Kazuya against the wall. Having Sawamura take control, since normally he would let Kazuya control the situation, was new, scary, annoying and exciting at the same time. Especially when he realized he didn’t mind it one bit.

Still, Kazuya couldn’t stop his nose from scrunching up at being pressed against the disgusting and sticky wall. The overflowing trashcan’s stench at the other end of the alley also made his eyes water.

“Couldn’t you pick a cleaner place to do this?” he had to ask.

Sawamura kept one hand on Kazuya’s chest, still holding him against the wall, but his angry look morphed as he could only open and close his mouth dumbly, not having a good comeback or excuse for it. That only lasted a few seconds before he started to glare directly into Kazuya’s eyes again. Still he said, “I just—it was the only place I could find at the moment.” He grimaced, like it physically hurt him. “Sorry.”

Not wanting Sawamura to feel his racing heartbeat and feeling vulnerable with his current position, Kazuya knocked Sawamura’s hand away.

“What the hell?” Sawamura winced, looking unsure, which had Kazuya smirking, slowly growing more confident as Sawamura started to look a bit lost. “It’s to be expected of you. Always acting before thinking things through.” He shrugged with a nasty look.

Sawamura stepped back, enough to let Kazuya push off of the wall, but not enough to give him moving space.

“That’s why you shouldn’t have left me,” Sawamura said in a quiet voice.

“What did you say?”

“I said,” Sawamura’s voice got louder as a challenging look, normally reserved for the mound, took over, “‘You shouldn’t have left me.’ I need someone to make sure I don’t do something stupid, since everyone is always saying I am.”

Kazuya scowled, “It’s wasn’t just me. You—, what are you even talking about?” Kazuya pushed Sawamura away, making him stumble a bit. He was now able to step away from the nasty wall and debated if he should just leave or actually finish the conversation.

“WHY? Why did you just disappear after you graduated?” Sawamura’s loud voice resonated in the empty alley, making Kazuya wince.

“What do you mean? I didn’t disappear. I just—“

“Don’t lie to me. Everyone else texts or e-mails me. Even if it’s once a month, they keep in touch.” Sawamura was panting now. Taking deep breaths as if he needed to calm himself. Which he did.

“You just… you just left. No words. Nothing. I thought we, I thought something was happening between us. That it wasn’t just me. That maybe you—you and I…” Sawamura finally looked away. Kazuya was grateful since Sawamura’s slowly tearing eyes made his stomach churn.

Still, anger took over Kazuya and with his heart trying to punch out of his chest, he closed in on Sawamura. Surprising Sawamura as Kazuya walked him backwards. Pinning him down against the opposing dirty wall.

Now it was Sawamura’s turn to look disgusted as he felt a sticky substance glue on the back of his arms.

The only sound was the distant chatter of people walking to whatever destination they were headed.

Kazuya didn’t let Sawamura lose focus. “Hey, pay attention”, Sawamura jumped in attention. “I don’t know what to say. What you want me to say?”

Couldn’t Sawamura choose a nicer smelling spot to ambush me?

A sudden wind wafted Sawamura’s sweaty scent to him. Breathing that in, finding that he actually enjoyed the smell instead of being repulsed by it.

“You just stopped talking to me. Ignoring me like—“

“Well you,” Kazuya jabbed a finger against Sawamura’s forehead, making him wince, “stopped talking to me first. You,” another jab as Kazuya felt himself fill up with an unfamiliar resolve. “started chasing Okumura whenever you,” and another jab, “wanted to play catch. Or something,” It was embarrassing to admit. Kazuya couldn’t stop his face from flushing. So he took a small pleasure at realizing he still had a few inches over Sawamura, making the latter have to slightly tilt his head up if he wanted to look Kazuya in the eyes.

Sawamura only stared with a stupidly confused face.

“Wait—“ he glared as he pushed Kazuya off of him. A challenging and warning look, that same heated, golden eyed look. He didn’t hesitate to walk Kazuya backwards, like Kazuya had done to him a few minutes ago. He pushed against Kazuya’s chest until Kazuya was once again pinned down.

“What about him?” Sawamura glared. “Don’t tell me you also think something’s going on?” He dramatically threw his hands in the air, exasperation clear on his face. “Nothing—“

“Then why were you suddenly always after him. Every chance you got you were at his heels, all pathetic looking. All desperate. Like you just couldn’t get enough of him—“

“SHUT UP! Sawamura heaved. “DON”T CALL ME PATHETIC WHEN IT WAS YOU WHO ALWAYS LOOKED—, ugh!” he turned away with more tears in his eyes.

Even if the tears made Kazuya want to reach out and place a comforting hand on Sawamura’s arm, made him feel guilty, Kazuya resisted temptation.

He actually had no idea how to start comforting him. “Just, what happened?”

“I don’t know…” Sawamura whispered while sniffling a bit. “But I’ve missed you so much. Still miss you so much it hurts…”

Kazuya couldn’t resist anymore and took a step closer, he could see Sawamura’s hopeful look.

Taking a deep breath, Kazuya reached out and stroked Sawamura’s left cheek. Sawamura closed his eyes, nuzzling against the gentle touch.

Sawamura huffed. “And you call me an idiot.”

Kazuya didn’t hesitate to pinch Sawamura’s captured cheek, provoking a startled yelp and Sawamura to pull back, a betrayed look taking over.

“What was that for?”

“You should respect your elders.”

“You’re only one year older! JUST YOU WAIT, MIYUKI KAZUYA! BY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR I’LL BE IN THE SAME TEAM AS YOU! I—“ Sawamura’s whole face flushed but Kazuya was barely able to enjoy it as Sawamura turned to look away, a hand covering his own flushed expression.

“How can you say that?” Kazuya asked.

Have you no sense of shame?

Kazuya tried to keep a steady voice, trying to not be overcome with fondness over the idiot.

“Well,” Sawamura said in a small voice. “If I don’t follow you then you’ll just disappear again… stupid Miyuki Kazuya.”

Calming himself long enough to finally face Sawamura, he was able to take pleasure in Sawamura’s still flushed face. Kazuya tried not to think what events led them to this conversation or the fact that he hadn’t been able to resist Sawamura’s allure and touch him.

Yeah, those thoughts wouldn’t do him any good at the moment.

“You mean to say that you are planning to follow me to college? Just like you did with Seido?”

Sawamura’s embarrassed sputtering made Kazuya smirk. “You are such a stalker.”

This had the desired effect, as Sawamura didn’t hesitate to grab Kazuya by his collar and roughly shake him. It surprised him how much he had missed Sawamura’s manhandling.

“I am not a stalker! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO…” After a moment of consideration, Sawamura dropped him and took a step back. “Sorry,” he said lamely.

Kazuya just scratched the back of his head awkwardly as he tried to process what had happened.

“You okay?”

“Yeah, it’s just,” Sawamura gave him a shy side-glance. “I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to strangle the guy I’m confessing to.”

Kazuya was only able to process the information for a few seconds before clutching his stomach in disbelieving, elated and nasally laughter.

“DON’T LAUGH!” Sawamura said, as he seemed to decide against his self-imposed rules and roughly grabbed Kazuya again and shook him a second time.

Kazuya laughed, having a hard time catching his breath because of the laughter and shaking, but after a few more seconds, that felt like minutes, Sawamura stopped.

Being able to look at Sawamura, to really look at him, Kazuya felt a bit shy at the other’s warm look. Something he wasn’t used to feeling.

“What?” Kazuya said. He refused to shy away a second time.

“I really missed your laugh. It’s kind of annoying because it’s you.”

“Gee, thanks,” Kazuya muttered.

“But it makes my heart pound in my head and my throat to clench up.”

Kazuya could only blink at the honest confession.

“Don’t you have any shame?” he finally voiced.

Sawamura gave him a threatening and very cute glare at that statement.

“Why should I be ashamed of my feelings for you?” He actually growled as he shook Kazuya a third time, but this time it was gentler, as if afraid of taking it too far.

Kazuya grabbed ahold of Sawamura’s forearms, taking the chance to feel them up a bit, approving of the steady workouts results, as he trailed down and clasped Sawamura’s hands.

The other’s flustered look was enough to give Kazuya a surge of confidence to keep going. Even if he had no idea what he was doing.

Sawamura gently let go of Kazuya’s collar and with equally clammy hands he held on to Kazuya’s.

“Are you sure about what you feel for Okumura?”

Sawamura’s harsh grimace was enough to convince Kazuya.

Before Sawamura could voice his answer, Kazuya didn’t hesitate to bring him closer.

Taking hold of Sawamura’s face again he pressed his forehead against the loudmouthed pitcher.

Ignoring his own coy demeanor, Kazuya took pleasure in Sawamura’ trusting and nervous expression.

Sawamura clutched Kazuya’s waist, making a noticeable shiver of pleasure course through Kazuya’s body, one he tried to play off as a reaction to the chilly wind.

Kazuya didn’t know where to look; Sawamura’s intense eyes, or his inviting lips.

Sawamura, greedy and impatient as always, made the decision easier as he leaned in with eyes closed and slightly puckered lips.

Kazuya, never missing a moment to tease him, leaned back a bit.

“Aren’t you eager?” Kazuya said in his most flirtatious tone. It seemed to work since all Sawamura could do was splutter in disbelief.

Kazuya gave his signature, amused grin.

“MIYUKI KAZUYA! HOW DARE YOU RUIN THIS MOMENTOUS MOMENT!”

Kazuya winced at Sawamura’s loud tone, but couldn’t hide the fond smile.

Sawamura’s outrage left as quickly as it came when he closed his eyes again and leaned in enough to peck Kazuya’s happy grin. Kazuya knew he had to look stupid with that permanent grin, but he couldn’t help himself.

“You call that a kiss?” Kazuya said at Sawamura’s expectant look.

Another outraged expression took over Sawamura before he leaned in again and gave Kazuya another quick peck.

Kazuya tried to calm his nervous, trembling hands as he rolled his eyes and said, “I guess I just have to show you.”

Instead of looking embarrassed Sawamura said, “Show me, senpai.”

An exciting heat took over as he met Sawamura halfway, neither one hesitating in opening up to one another. This had Kazuya, who had no prior experience, feel confident as they kept kissing. Sawamura’s slightly chapped lips felt a little rough at first but that quickly changed when the kiss heated up. They made up their inexperience with eagerness.

Kazuya wasn’t afraid to try new things and responded to Sawamura’s every approving hum and blissful moan. The slight nips on the lower lip, the teasing tongue asking for more was enough to make Kazuya’s knees go a bit weak. Even though he wouldn’t admit it, he was glad he had Sawamura to lean on.

He never knew he could enjoy the feel of another tongue in his mouth. How Sawamura slightly sucking on Kazuya’s tongue could feel so, so, heavenly.

It wasn’t until Kazuya heard his own surprised moan, being dragged out against his will by Sawamura’s talented and shameless tongue that Kazuya pulled away.

Resting his forehead against Sawamura’s again, he was pleased to notice the other’s twin heavy breathing. Kazuya couldn’t help but feel a wave of affection and pride for the pitcher.

I did that. I left him like that.

“Okay,” Sawamura said in a shaky voice. “I really enjoy kissing. Kissing you.” He gave Kazuya a too-charming and innocent grin that made it difficult for Kazuya to concentrate on Sawamura’s next words.

“It’s not too bad,” Kazuya said cheekily. Sawamura pouted as Kazuya continued, “But I might need some more convincing,” he finished with a predatory grin that made Sawamura let out a tempting moan.

Kazuya tried to close in and capture Sawamura’s lips once more, but Sawamura turned away.

“Umm…” Sawamura tried to say as Kazuya accepted the change of direction, not minding the new destination and began trailing kisses down Sawamura’s neck.

Kazuya never knew how tempting he found Sawamura’s natural scent, even all sweaty, making the scent more pronounced, before that moment.

“Are you sniffing me?” Sawamura gasped as he unconsciously tilted his head, giving Kazuya more room to explore. Sawamura couldn’t help but clutch at Kazuya’s back, letting out a pleased gasp in response.

It wasn’t until Kazuya felt his own pleased hum, reverberated against Sawamura’s skin that he realized how close they had gotten to one another. How Sawamura had pinned him against the wall again and Kazuya’s hands were now cradling his head, fingers finally running through Sawamura’s slightly sweaty hair.

“Wait, Miyuki…”

Kazuya found the strength in him to push Sawamura away; worried he was taking things too far. Especially in public.

“Did I do something wrong?” He tried to focus on Sawamura’s words and not on his inviting mouth.

“If we don’t stop now I don’t think I’ll ever want to stop—Stop looking so smug, jerk!” Sawamura crossed his arms in a defiant stance. “We have to go meet up with the others.”

Kazuya grinned, trying to act like he hadn’t forgotten about the others or where they were at the moment.

As corny as it felt, Kazuya couldn’t stop himself from reaching for Sawamura’s left hand, his wonderful pitching hand and give it a small kiss.

Holding the hand to his lips and enjoying Sawamura’s quickly reddening face he said, “Just make sure you have to go to the bathroom at the same time as me.” He finished with a suggestive wink, dropped Sawamura’s limp hand and started to leave the alley. “You coming?”

“MIYUKI KAZUYA, YOU BASTARD! HOW DARE YOU, YOU JERK—“

Kazuya threw a mischievous smirk over his shoulder while he kept his steady pace. Without revealing his own throat clenching, stomach churning nerves, he said, “Is that any way to talk to your boyfriend?”

Sawamura’s quick and loud mouth snapped shut, swiftly shifting to his brilliant grin. It didn’t take him long as he followed Kazuya with his ridiculous, adorable and ecstatic skipping. On his end, Kazuya fought a cheery smile of his own.

Sawamura reached out and gave Kazuya’s hand a quick squeeze before letting go and stepping onto the busy streets.

The plan had been to join their friends, who would notice their stupid, unrepentant smiles and no matter how much they asked or speculated neither one would give a clear answer.

But it wasn’t that simple. In all their happy, enclose bubble; Kazuya and Sawamura had been immune to the awful smell they both acquired from pressing each other to the dirty ally walls. Even on the ride to the karaoke place they hadn’t realized how the other passengers stayed cleared of them.

Once at the karaoke place the employees there turned up their noses at them, but let them in. It wasn’t until they entered the rented room that they realized how horrible they both smelled.

“What the hell!? What were you guys doing? Dumpster diving?” Kuramochi pinched his nose while others just decided to stay as far away as possible.

Sawamura just gaped at them. “We don’t smell that bad,” he looked over at Kazuya, “do we?”

Kazuya had already grown used to the smell so he just shrugged, finally having his happy bubble popped. He hated being the butt of the joke.

“Well,” Chris gave a slight smile, “you kind of do…”

“CHRIS-SENPAI!” Sawamura’s horrified reaction would have been funny if it didn’t resonate in the enclosed room.

But Kazuya, who also had to wince at the sound, took a sadistic pleasure at seeing everyone cover their ears at the screeching noise.

Shut up,” Kuramochi’s warning tone had Sawamura using Kazuya as a shield. “And just go clean yourselves up in the bathroom.”

Kazuya raised a taunting eyebrow, “Jealous?”

“Of what?” Furuya’s confused look made a few of the others roll their eyes.

Kuramochi’s disgusted sneer said it all. “Not if I have to end up smelling like that.”

After a few more complaints, Kazuya and Sawamura made their way out of the room and towards the bathroom.

Sawamura’s dejected demeanor had Kazuya a bit annoyed. After they had finally gotten together, their friends had managed to bring Sawamura down from his high.

“Hey,” Kazuya nudged him.

“What?” Sawamura barely spared him a glance as they took a left and were a few feet away from the bathroom.

Kazuya stopped and Sawamura followed once he realized he was walking alone.

“Guess this means we have ‘bathroom time’ earlier than expected. We can take our sweet time and chuck it up to ‘cleaning’ ourselves.”

Sawamura’s quick reddening as his eyes grew wide with realization was enough to send an excited shiver down Kazuya’s spine. He couldn’t resist licking his lips and as Sawamura followed the motion with heavy-lidded eyes, Kazuya couldn’t help but wish there was no one already in the bathroom.

“Sawamura,” Chris said as he turned the corner and found them.

Kazuya and Sawamura could only blink in confusion at his sudden presence.

Please don’t have to use the bathroom.

“What is it Chris-senpai?” Sawamura asked.

A feeling of dread took over Kazuya as Chris’ expression grew more serious. Especially when he took them both into consideration and seemed to give himself a silent, resolved nod.

Seriously?

“I think… Maybe we should talk?” Chris cleared his throat.

Sawamura just looked at Kazuya, confused thoughts screwing up his face.

“Yeah, I’ll just leave you guys alone.” Kazuya tried to make his quick escape.

“You too, Miyuki.” Chris’ firm tone had Sawamura give a superior look at Kazuya, who quickly turned around and went to stand next to him.

Won’t be smiling soon…

“So, what’s up, Chris-senpai?”

A sigh, “I just thought we should talk… about the ‘birds and the bees,’ make sure you’re… aware of things, before…”

Sawamura’s confused head tilting was adorable and almost enough to make Kazuya laugh at him, if Kazuya himself wasn’t currently filling up with dread.

“What bir—“ Sawamura’s face turned a nice shade of purple, as if he suddenly forgot how to breathe.

“Oi.” Kazuya nudged Sawamura hard enough he almost lost his footing.

“Will you stop doing that!” Sawamura glared at Kazuya, before he turned to face Chris.

“Right… so shall we?” Chris said in an exasperated tone.

It took Kazuya all his usual cocky façade to not blush at some of the things Chris said.

Who even knew Chris would know all this stuff?

It also helped Sawamura kept shooting shy glances at Kazuya with every explanation Chris gave.

Kazuya let Chris’ voice drone out as he gave Sawamura a fond look and nodded towards the bathroom.

“Sorry, Chris,” Kazuya cut Chris off from whatever he was saying. “But we really have to clean up. Thanks for the advice!” Kazuya said as he headed to the bathroom.

“Chris-senpai! I THANK THEE FOR THE AMAZING WISDOM YOU HAVE IMPARTED UPON I, BUT I MUST TAKE MY LEAVE AS WELL.” With a very low bow in Chris’ direction, Sawamura took off after Kazuya, joining him with a silly grin inside the bathroom.

All Chris could do was shake his head once the sound of a click, locking up the bathroom, resounded in the empty hallway.
