Work Text:

Sometimes, in unexpected situations, accidental love happens.
For just a split of a second, something burns up inside of you, engulfing you in something warm and tender. A feeling of gentle, but strong excitement flushes through one's veins, filling up the system with something light – something almost intoxicating, taking away the mind.

Inevitably, one's body reacts on it's own, shutting out reason and rationality. It may seem like control is forgotten, while everything slows down and speeds up at it's own surrealistic pace.

Even if it's just for a brief moment in reality.

“There's nothing like that in here”, Jimin sighs, looking tiredly at Taehyung.
“But Jimin, I really need a calendar. I am not able to plan shit for uni, bro.”

The two boys roamed around a store for quite some time now, but they just couldn't find a single pocket calendar in there. In fact, it wasn't the first shop they searched in – they looked around the whole town to find one.
Not that their town was that big to begin with, but anyways ...

“It's only April, how could they take them out of their range?”, the younger – Taehyung - stated rather annoyed, ready to punch the nearest salesman for their thoughtlessness.

Then again, coming down from his high, he let go a breath that he didn't know he was holding in the entire time. “Okay, maybe I should have been a bit more organized.”

Jimin eyed the other in amusement. “No, they should have calendars around the entire year. It's not your fault.”

“Wow, man – you're right.” And so, the irritation bubbled up again.

Restlessly, Taehyung stomped his way out of the tiny spaces the cramped store provided, not even thinking about taking care – because fuck it, he really needed that calendar.

That's when, in an instant, his entire body came to an halt abruptly.
Jimin ran into the taller's back wincing as if it was a wall made of iron.

What just happened?
Shocked and mildly confused, Taehyung gazed at what his body reacted at.

Just a second ago - without him even realizing - his legs stopped moving, protecting him from a collision with a pair of people coming out of the narrow aisle to his left.

The woman in front of him walked away as if nothing happened, leaving Taehyung relieved because no one besides Jimin saw his brain to body malfunction-
“Thank you.”

To his shock, a gentle voice rung in his ears, forcing him to look up, just to face a young man laughing at him.

Frozen, Taehyung stared into the other's eyes, not even knowing what he should do.
So he just blurted out the first thing that came into his mind, “No probs”.

The stranger grinned, amusement written all over his handsome features.
At that point, it occurred to Taehyung that the person in front of him was indeed, awfully attractive.

His eye smile was blinding, his facial features were blessed with beautiful contours. On top of that, he wore a camouflage cap – by the way, Taehyung was really into camouflage these days – and that made him perfect, he was just dazzling.

As the handsome young man was turning around, following the lady who seemed to be his mother, Taehyung was glued on the spot, barely realizing what just happened.

“You okay?”, he slowly asked Jimin behind him, looking back to see how his little friend was doing.
Sure, Jimin was a smoll cute bean - but hell, sometimes he just instantly caught up with the hidden feelings behind Taehyung's mostly blank face. What a sly fox.
“He was hot, wasn't he?”, Jimin asked out of a sudden, tickled pink.

Peeling off any hints of self-control, Taehyung burst out into heated laughter. What was the point of hiding it anyways? What even was sanity?
“He was damn GORGEOUS.”

The two lost it completely.

---

At the end of the day, the friends were pretty exhausted. Nonetheless, they had loads of fun, laughing about quirky stories and dumb mishaps. It was not like every time they met, something absolutely hilarious and awkward happened – who was he trying to kid? It happened every single time.

“Even though I only went out to find a fricking calendar (that I didn't even find and I still really need it), it was kinda cool”, Taehyung said, stretching his long legs as they were sitting on a bench for a short pause on their way back home.

Jimin, who accidentally bought two notepads double the original price and ended up being motivated by Taehyung to go back and return them – just to be dragged into another stressful adventure of not being able to choose the cheaper ones with pretty covers, was nodding along.
“We all have failures in our lives.”

Yes yes, their supposedly short trip to a stationary store ended up being an escapade full of laughter and flops. But it was totally worth it.

Because at the end of the day, Taehyung made an encounter with Mr. Perfect. The guy who turned around with his angelic smile and even thanked him for being awkwardly polite.

“I wonder what his name was.”

Jimin looked at him in thought, directly catching up with his thoughts, “I think I know him, like, I've surely met him before.”

Sometimes, the two didn't even have to explain to one another to know what they were talking about. It was telepathy.

“Oh really? I mean, the town's not that big, right? You've probably met before”, the younger added, looking off into the distance, mesmerized by the stranger in his memories.
“Sure”, Jimin shrugged it off with a weird feeling.

---

A few days later, Taehyung went on a trip to a nearby city with a close Dongsaeng he knew since they were toddlers – Jeon Jungkook.

The brunette boy was really fun to be around with, they understood each other pretty well.
Currently, they were waiting for a train to take them home.

“Did he ask about me?”, the younger wanted to know out of a sudden.
Taehyung scoffed at that same damn question he always asked when the slightest opportunity came up.

“No, Jungkook. Jimin did not ask about your lame ass.”
With a long sigh, Jungkook looked at the dirtied ground at the train station where they waited for their drive home.

It was almost funny how Jungkook was always very fond of Jimin, being attentive to every small mood and need that plagued him. And as Jimin's best friend and soulmate, Taehyung knew the smaller one liked him as well.

Come to think of it, Jungkook used to be quite shy about his crush. He even used to push Jimin away when the older was trying to wrap his short arms around him - numerous times.
Well lately, Jungkook came to be very open and aggressive about his affection towards Jimin as he grew up, Taehyung thought.

“Just confess already. It's getting embarrassing to watch you two, honestly bro.”
Jungkook's big innocent-looking eyes widened even more, kind of scaring the older.

“You know it confuses me when you are that shook”, Taehyung stated, grabbing the fabric in front of his chest a bit too dramatically.

“Man, you know that I really try my best! But it seems like I can't reach him lately. I've got the feeling that he's ignoring me somehow.”

It was true. Jimin grew sick of chasing behind the younger's affection, so he decided to ignore him to get his attention.
Even if Jimin didn't openly state this, Taehyung just knew.

“So, what are you going to do, Romeo?”

Jungkook looked devastated. “I don't know.”

They sat on a decor-like metal-thing next to the elevators they surely shouldn't sit on, but basically it wasn't illegal, so they just did.

“I'm sure you'll master it somehow. Like you always do in any kind of situation, you golden-bastard.” Taehyung was laughing frantically at Jungkooks scandalized, but amused expression.

As another train was whizzing past them, slapping air into their happy faces, Taehyung suddenly caught sight of a very familiar face.

He couldn't even conceal his shock.
“What's wrong?”, the younger asked, looking around for the thing that stopped his Hyung from laughing.

When Taehyung saw the person disappearing behind a swarm of people, he shook his head.
“No, it's nothing. I thought I saw someone I... know?”

Eyebrows raised, Jungkook watched the elder. “You fine?”

Not that he wasn't okay, but his heart suddenly decided to punch him into his ribs, stealing away his frantic breath. Why was he that excited to see a stranger anyway?

“Sure, why are you asking? Everything is good.” An awkward laugh escaped his mouth.

“Because you kinda look like you have to pee.”

His jaw dropped open. “I... have nothing to add to that.”

As minutes passed and the weird air between the two males was dissolving, they began to talk about random stuff again.

Just when it went silent, Jungkook suddenly decided to speak up again. His head made little jerking movements while he pointed at a certain direction with his chin
“Hey, do you know them? Especially the guy, who has been looking over here for quite a while now.”

Something inside of Taehyung's chest bubbled up when he looked to where Jungkook was gazing at, taking in the view of an incredibly handsome face.
The second their eyes met, the time went slow, the usual noises of rushing trains and mumbling masses of people magically vanished. His focus was completely set on the familiar, yet foreign dark eyes he meet just a while ago.

Wow, he thought, it's the nice guy from the store he almost bumped in to. What a coincidence, or was it fate?

Slowly but surely Taehyung tore his gaze away, feeling all giddy on the inside. Man, it was hella confusing, but exciting at the same time.

“No, not really”, he then replied as he remembered to answer the younger a bit too late.

“Okay, but why is the girl so salty?”

Then again, Taehyung was forced to look up, just to catch another pair of eyes glaring upon him as if he was the biggest nuisance ever.
Funny thing, they belonged to a girl that stood right next to the pretty boy from the brain-to-body-malfunction-incident.

“Someone's jealous because they're not the center of attention anymore”, Jungkook scoffed, glaring both, annoyed and maliciously at the female.

“She's probably cock-blocked by her own crush”, he then added, leaning nonchalantly against the elevator wall behind him.
Taehyung silently agreed, not used to be shot by a jealous girl's stagger-like eyes.

Just when their train was about to arrive, another train came by.
“Oh look, who's leaving”, Jungkook teased, not even realizing that the elder's cheeks flared up cherry red as the handsome boy looked at him for the last time before departing.

Now, Taehyung was really sure, that the not-so-unfamiliar stranger recognized him. And above all, he was surprised that he did.

It was a bit heart-fluttering, to be honest.

------

“Are you sure it's okay for me to join?, Taehyung asked Jimin as the other dragged him along to a dance performance he was afraid of going alone to.

“Sure why not?”, the older said, grabbing him by the arm, basically pulling him into the well-lit hall.

Unfortunately, the seats were already packed with packs of people, leaving them no other option as to stand near the walls where a few unlucky ones already resided at.

“Is Kook going to perform, too?”, Taehyung asked, totally ignoring the question from before.

Jimin didn't seem to mind.
Smiling widely, he proudly nodded. “Yeah, along with a higher level dance crew he practiced with for the past few months.”

Sparkles were dancing in his eyes as he talked about the younger.

“You know, maybe you should give him a chance. He seems a bit desperate lately”, the taller stated out of a sudden.

Instead of being shocked, Jimin just shook his head, his brown locks bouncing rhythmically. “Not yet. I'm waiting for that until he goes totally crazy.”

Taehyung wondered how much more pressure he would put on the younger, who was already drooling every time he eyed Jimin up and down when the smaller turned him his back.

Whatever. “Great! So when is he performing?”

Jimin was looking for his phone in his pockets. “Gotta take a look.”

Taehyung suddenly wondered why Jungkook invited just Jimin, that ungrateful brat.

“There are four stages first. His group is going to be the second to last – okay, why are you sulking now?”

Taehyung just shrugged it off and took a look into the crowded hall. It was amazing how many people came.

“Must be great groups performing, right?”, he asked instead of being in a snit, hoping to get an answer from Jimin as he was a dancer himself. He probably knew about the groups that were performing.

“Actually, it's true. Especially the last group's gonna be a pretty famous one. They have this genius dancer Jung Hoseok, who's considered one of the best in this region – top of the top. I never saw him performing in real life though, only in videos”

Taehyung was starting to look forward to this somehow. Even if he wasn't the best dancer, he liked it and really admired people, who were gifted with the dance-gene.

“Cool.”

---

They stood there for a bit until the show started.
Taehyung was amazed by all the talented people, moving their limbs skillfully to whatever melody was blasting through the speakers, watching them in pure awe.

Just when Jungkook's stage was about to start, Jimin looked at him with an excited grin and glistening eyes, filled with warm and tender feelings.
That's when Taehyung realized, his friend was deeply into the youngest.

“Cute” he thought out loud, very happy for his friends.

But he couldn't hide the fact, that he secretly wished for a romance as well. The thought of meeting someone as dedicated to love as his friends were, was somehow very appealing.

“It's starting – woah he looks HOT!”
Drake's 'Own it' blasted through the speakers when the lights went dim, perfectly underlining the sensual vibe and the fluent moves of the song.

Jimin's eyes were set on Jungkook the whole time, he did not dare to say a single word. Probably because he was speechless.

Right when the performance ended and the group disappeared behind the heavy curtains, Jimin stood there with an open mouth and sparkling eyes.
“Crap. I think I seriously fell for Jeon Jungkook.”

Taehyung laughed out loud, pushing Jimin by the back, off to the stage with a reassuring smile.
“You should look out for him backstage. I'm sure it'll make him happy.”
With a dubious nod and shaking legs, Jimin went for it, leaving Taehyung behind.

Just then, the next stage was announced. As they mentioned the name, Jung Hoseok, the audience cheered louder than before.
Jimin was right, that guy surely was popular.

As the stage lights went on, finding their way to illuminate the performers in sparkling stage clothes, Taehyung felt the ground under his feet falling.
Because the person taking the dead center was no other than the charmingly handsome stranger he ran into a few weeks ago.

The camouflage wearing guy was the Jung Hoseok, the excellent dancer, who almost out-shined every other person on stage with his amazingly smooth dance moves and shining stage presence.
Above that, he had that passionate glint flaming up in his eyes and a very charming grin, exposing his pearly whites and bringing out his hidden dimples.

Taehyung forgot how to look away, how to breath. His insides felt all tingly and his mind became a mushy mess.

Honestly speaking, at this moment he only had eyes for Jung Hoseok. Heat swallowed his whole body as the dancer thrusted sharply into the air with every beat.

Jung Hoseok was a whole 'nother level, really. Every move he did looked amazing as if it was made precisely for his body only. It was nuts.

As the lights went off and the music stopped, the crowd went crazy with the applause and cheers.
Taehyung, who was still in shock, raised his hands to clap his shaking hands weakly.

With a happy cheer, the host began his ending speech for the program, wishing every single one of the viewers a nice way home. But the tall boy wasn't fully there to understand what the guy was talking about.
More likely, his mind was screaming about the skilled dancer he met on a lucky accident a few weeks ago.

He stood there for a quite a while, staring off into the blurry distance and not realizing that the stage was completely empty now. Some people where already leaving.

“It's already over?”

A feeling of disappointment suddenly crawled all over him. Today, he really enjoyed himself and he was glad, that Jimin dragged him here.

Speaking of the raven haired boy, where was he? It was already half an hour since he left his side and the event was over already.

With a queasy feeling in his stomach, he went after Jimin, making his way to the back of the stage where only staff and performers were allowed.
A man stopped him, asking him for his permission.

“Umm... I don't have one? One of my friends is a dancer here, though.”

The security guy seemed unwavering. “Okay, but do you have a permission?”
A bit taken aback, Taehyung answered in a small voice. “No...”
A grin made it's way to the guy's face.
“So, there's no entrance for you, buddy.”

Where were his friends when he needed them? And more importantly, how the heck did Jimin get in?

Taehyung really wasn't in the mood to discuss things out. Maybe he should just wait for them to come out on their own-

“Oh, it's okay. He belongs to me”, a voice suddenly appeared. Taehyung looked up only to be blinded by Jung Hoseok smiling at the security.

The man let him pass and Taehyung bowed in confusion. Was this real?

His heart rate was so high, he felt like he was going to explode as he looked into the dancers handsome face.
“Thanks”, he said kinda shyly. Since when did Kim Taehyung get that shy? Oh wow, he learned new things about himself now.

Jung Hoseok came a bit closer because of all the background noises.
“No problem.” His smile was as blinding as the sun. Hoseok was the sun.

“Did you look for someone special?”, he then asked.
It took a few seconds for Taehyung to catch himself staring.

“Y-yeah. My friends, but they probably forgot about me”, he joked, earning a laugh from the other.
Taehyung made a mental note, that he liked the other's laugh a lot. It was refreshing.

“You need help to look around?”, he surprisingly suggested.
Thankful, Taehyung waved his hands, “No, really. You don't need to-”
But he was cut of, “It's okay. Let's go.”

His skin furiously tingled where the dancer grabbed his arm. He was showing him around with a carefree attitude. Just like the first time they met, he was really friendly. The dancer talked a lot to him, maybe to ease him a bit.

After a while, they still didn't find the two.
“What are their names?”, Jung Hoseok asked.

“Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook.”
The dancer let go of the hold on Taehyung's arm and that's when he realized, Hoseok was holding onto him all that time. He dearly hoped he was not getting red in the face.

“Hey, did you see Jeon Jungkook somewhere?” Jung Hoseok asked another dancer, who was currently packing up his water bottle.
“I saw him in the changing rooms with another guy, but I dunno if they're still there”, he answered with a shrug.
“Thanks.”

With that, Jung Hoseok led the way to the changing rooms behind the mess of a backstage.
As they arrived, they knocked on the door, opening it the same tame. A mistake.

And this was when they were welcomed by the two missing guys making out passionately against a wall.
Taehyung, who luckily had the door knob in his hand, shut it close with a loud thud.

“Sorry”, he semi-yelled to both, his friends and Jung Hoseok, who seemed just as surprised as him.

“Oh, it's fine. I'm cool with that. I've seen more than this”, the now laughing dancer answered casually. Taehyung couldn't detect any signs of uncomfortableness in his expression.
“Really? I mean, umm... Okay, cool.” At this point, he was just blabbering.

When the dancer was laughing, the door opened again, exposing a very sorry Jimin and Jungkook.
“Sunbae-nim”, they greeted Jung Hoseok with a deep bow, practically apologizing at the same time.
“It's cool, you guys”, he reassured again with a grin.

“I think you should rather be apologizing to your friend for letting him roam around without a clue where you were.”
He pointed at a surprised Taehyung.

After all the stress, they finally noticed their friend.
“Oh god, Tae I'm sorry I left you there”, Jimin realized. “I didn't know it would... escalate like this.”
Jungkook stood there a bit puzzled. “You brought Taehyung Hyung along?”

“Don't make me feel offended, Jeon”, Taehyung threatened with a fist in a joking manner.
The round started to laugh and loosening up a little.

“Thanks for bringing him here, Sunbae-nim! I just got to know you today, but I already caused you trouble”, Jungkook bowed his head to Hoseok again.

“Ah, it's nothing, really. I'm a bit glad that you left him behind, though”, he suddenly confessed, shocking everyone. Especially Taehyung himself.
“That way I could meet him again.”

Getting the note, Jimin suddenly pushed Jungkook away. “Yeah, we should get going now. We'll go on a date, so you'll find your way home alone, right Tae?”
With that, they bowed to Jung Hoseok one last time and disappeared in a matter of seconds.

Panicked, Taehyung watched them leaving. These bastards, he thought. He wasn't ready for what he ironically hoped would happen.
“So, you're the cute guy, who didn't want to crush into me the other day.”

Taehyung's mind was a puddle of overwhelming feelings and incoherent thoughts.

“Yeah, but I think it's a bit too late for that now. I already have a crush on you.”

------

“That's basically how we fell for each other”, Taehyung explained as they were eating out on a Saturday night.

It was only four weeks after they started dating, him and Jung Hoseok.

“So, you guys are... a thing now?”, Jungkook asked, eyes wide as he raised his chopsticks to point (it was more like an erratic waddling) at the two laughing males.

This time, the dancer himself answered, smiling brightly and reaching out for Taehyung's unoccupied hand to gently hold it.
“Yeah. We're boyfriends now.”

Taehyung tried his best to not blush, but he felt his manly-man pride crumble as his cheeks suddenly felt incredibly hot. It was the first time, he called him that in public.

Jimin playfully raised his eye brows, lightly elbowing the youngest to his left into his ribs.

“You see that, Jungkook-ah? I think Taehyung's embarrassed. Take a picture, I wanna remember his expression.”

Jimin was laughing out loud now, dragging Hoseok into a fit of laughter with him.

When they realized, the others were sulking and frowning, their fun came to an end.

“What's the deal?”, Jimin asked, rather surprised to see his own boyfriend unamused, whereas he usually would have been the first person to add more fuel to his statement.

“No”, Jungkook huffed out with a huge pout. Jimin threw Taehyung a helpless stare, who just shrugged his shoulders. A look to Hoseok- clueless. So Jimin practically climbed into Jungkook's lap to pull out an answer of the younger's mouth, completely dismissing everything around him, including the couple in front of them.

Taehyung watched them with a weirded out, but nonetheless fond look. Until he felt a hand gently caressing his knee. When he turned to his side, he saw Hoseok smiling at him, his dimples showing and eyes glistening with joy.
“Hey, come closer”, he said, leaning in a bit.

Curious about what the elder has to say, Taehyung leant in further until their cheeks were merely a few millimeters apart. His heart skipped a beat when Hoseok closed the proximity and joined their lips in a small chaste kiss. It was short, but sweet and made his knees tremble in happiness. Taehyung was so-

“Whipped!”, Jimin suddenly squeaked, pointing a finger at them. “You're so whipped for each other!”
Hoseok laughed, Taehyung gulped. Since when did Jimin sit in his place again, watching them like that?

Without a word, Jungkook took a hold around his smaller boyfriends's wrist to bring him near to his face. They looked at each other deadly in the eye for a second.

You shouldn't be laughing at that, lil' one. Hoseok just called him his boyfriend. Where is your decency? Earlier you should have called me something cute as well. Something like Baby- I know you like to call me that when you scream it in be-”

Jungkook was cut of by a hand against his mouth.

Beet-red Jimin stuttered as he looked over to the pair across the table.
“S-shut up, you little brat.”

Hoseok was staring at them silently, judging, but rather amused. In contrast to that, Taehyung's jaw dropped nearly onto his plate, leaving a bomb of a comment.

“No wonder why you reached 4th base that fast, when you almost ate each other's faces the day you literally just confessed to each other.”

Jimin ignored him for four days after that.

Oh yes, love is a mystery.

Some get to experience the so called 'love at first sight' and some might be tested with 'skinny love'.

After all, it really doesn't matter how you fall in love or how long it takes to realize that this special someone is your one and only soulmate.

Because what matters is the way one envelopes these tender feelings within the heart, as lovers hold onto each others hands with a spark of affection dancing in their eyes.
