Work Text:

It all started on a rainy day when they were supposed to be in Primary School.

Hoseok had had the absolute worst day in his entire seven year old life. Usually, the boy was positive about things, but his morning was so bad that he couldn’t even make himself smile. His Mother had gone overseas to work a better job, leaving him with his father who woke up at three in the morning to go to the University and teach English 101. That had left Hoseok alone in the mornings and he had to wake himself up to walk to school.

He usually loved walking to school, even when his mother was there to drive him, but today was cloudy . Hoseok was absolutely terrified of storms. His mother would normally drive him to school and offer him kind words on days like this, but sadly she was overseas and he had to walk. Oh, and another thing, he couldn’t find his umbrella.

He had spent nearly fifteen minutes trying to find it that morning, making himself skip breakfast just so he didn’t have to be drenched when he got to school. He didn’t find it, however, so Hoseok bolted out the door and tried to get down the mile and a half stretch before it started raining any worse, but he had only gotten halfway to the park his Mother always took him to and it started pouring.

Hoseok let out a scream when the sky lit up and he ran all the way to the gazebo and hid under the wooden picnic table, hugging his knees and burying his face in them to try and stop the tears that would come as soon as he heard the thunder. Not a second later, the booming sound erupted from the heavens and he started sobbing.

He felt a small hand on his back, but it didn’t scare him. It was slightly comforting, so he let it be. The hand rubbed up and down his back slowly, until he calmed down enough that there were only small trickles of tears down his face.

“Hey, stranger? Are you scared of the storm?” Came a young voice beside him. Hoseok took a second to examine the stranger’s face and realized he was only a year or two younger than him, but he couldn’t be sure. It didn’t matter, anyway.

“A-a little…” Hoseok looked down at the floor with a frown. He was a big boy and shouldn’t be scared of anything… Or, at least that’s what his father had told him.

The younger boy smiled at him. “Well, that’s alright. Everyone’s scared of somethin’! Some people are scared of a lot of things, but that doesn’t mean we need to make ‘em feel bad ‘cause of it.” Hoseok smiled at that. His Father believed that boys shouldn’t show their emotions, even when they’re scared. The other boy held out the had that wasn’t on Hoseok’s back for a hand shake. “The name’s Taehyung. Kim Taehyung, to be percise!” Taehyung introduced himself with a boxy smile and confident flare that made Hoseok wipe the tears off his face and smile his brightest and shake the boy’s hand.

“I’m Jung Hoseok!”

The two talked for a little bit longer. Hoseok learned that Taehyung was only a year younger than him and that his grandmother was only a few houses down from the park they were at. Taehyung had moved in with his grandmother a few weeks ago because his parents got jobs and had to go far away. Hoseok told him about his mom as well and by the end, the storm had calmed down significantly.

Hoseok had also learned that Taehyung had a great sense of humor, even at six. He said he was supposed to only be walking to school that morning, but he wanted to play at the park, even if his grandmother said not to, because he said he would beat a cold in the butt like how he got beat on the butt when he did something wrong. He said he would punish the cold for touching him and that made Hoseok laugh.

“Should we get going, Hobi-Hyung?” Taehyung got out from under the table and reached a hand out to Hoseok so he could pull him up. Hoseok laughed and said his thanks, then they both grabbed their bags and headed off to school, sharing Taehyung’s Pokemon umbrella so they didn’t have to get drenched on their way.

They had managed to get there within one minute of being late and the boys almost cried in relief that they didn’t have to spend recess in detention tomorrow. They walked down the hallway, holding hands and they hugged before they had to go into different classes.

This routine didn’t end. No, it only got more and more consistent, their relationship going from best friends to lovers once Taehyung turned 15 and realized that his other half had been right by his side since childhood. Hoseok had only ever been interested in Taehyung and there was a whole mess of stuff that could have been avoided, had they each been completely honest with each other back then.

So, that’s how Hoseok and Taehyung met. They made lots more friends, some close, some not. However, Taehyung and Hoseok had been joined at the hip since then, going on many adventures, being each other’s firsts, and hopefully lasts as well.

Their friends always acted like their closeness annoyed them, because they could tell what each other was feeling by even the micro emotions, like the slight rise of an eyebrow, or the tiny twitch of one’s lips. It was beautiful, really. That’s why everyone teased them about it so good naturedly.

OHMYGOD can you PLEASE not do that in front of the children??!?!?” Seokjin had screeched, pulling the two apart, all of their friends laughing, almost choking on their lunch. Jimin had fallen off his stool from the force of his laughter and Yoongi only took a small break to make sure the boy didn’t hit his head on the hard tile of the cafeteria floor.

“Hyung, you know if you do that, you will only encourage them. You’ve said it about a million times,” Namjoon said, looking up from his book with a teasing smirk on his face, then turning his attention back to the printed pages in his hands.

Jimin laid his head on Yoongi’s lap, feeling his impending food coma and immediately taking action by not moving an inch until after their lunch period ended. Yoongi rubbed his boyfriend’s back and massaged the boy’s butt, just to tease him. That and he really loved his boyfriend’s ass and was not even embarrassed about it anymore. It made Jimin turn brighter than the red skinny jeans the boy was wearing and that fact only served to encourage him.

Taehyung and Hoseok went straight back to locking lips and it was at that moment, Jungkook looked up from his phone and shook his head at his hyungs, chuckling at their antics that he was incredibly used to by now.

“I don’t even know why I’m friends with you guys, but at least you aren’t trying to kill each other with a mixture of teenage angst and drama,” The secondary school student grumbled, turning his attention back to the My Chemical Romance video that was playing through his headphones.
