Chapter Text

It was a bright sunny morning as Hoseok stretched his arms above his head, another day, another school day. It was Monday and mid-way through October, a month into the new school semester, he had already gotten accustomed to the constant routine he had set for himself. He always got up earlier than most other students, including his brother Jimin. Finishing his stretching he walked over to his organized desk and started looking over his notes. His room was the definition of clean and organized and Jimin's was the complete opposite, he could hear Jimin's snoring as his room was right across from his. After about 30 minutes of studying, he started getting ready for the day.

Their high school uniform consisted of a white button up shirt, a red tie, and black trousers. Shoes could be anything but he always opted for a pair of brown loafers. He looked himself in the mirror, he looked like a stereotypical student council president, which made sense to him seeing as he was the student council president.

Hoseok remembered the day he was appointed and the happiness he felt telling his parents. Walking down the stairs he passed his parent's room into the kitchen and grabbed his lunch. He always made his own lunch, along with Jimin's, for he knew if he didn't do it then Jimin would just spend all his allowance money on junk food.

"Morning bro", Jimin said in a cheerful tone as he passed his brother, quickly snatching his lunch bag.

"Ahh you added tomatoes to my sandwich again?" Jimin didn't look pleased but Hoseok just chuckled and stroked the younger's hair.

"It's good for you, I promise this weekend I'll make your favorite".

Jimin smiled at this and thanked him before walking to the door and started putting on his sneakers.

"Where are you going? It's still too early for school", Hoseok asked as Jimin was always the last one to wake up for school.

Jimin gave an expression as he had forgotten something before quickly adding "I forgot to tell you, but today is the start of football practice and Jungkook is giving me a ride, he should be here any second", Jimin explained as he put on his other shoe. "Oh why don't you come with us? That way you don't have to take the bus, I know you dislike riding the bus".

Hoseok thought about it, he really did dislike riding the bus, the kids there were always making mean remarks to him or asking him if he finished his homework and if they could copy, but he always felt that Jungkook also disliked him. Jimin and Jungkook were best friends seeing as they played football together for the last two years but Jungkook always shot him mean looks and never failed to comment about something he was doing or wearing.

Jimin noticed the hesitant look on his brother's face and pushed harder this time, "c'mon Hobi! Even though I am a few months younger than you I still worry about you and would rather have you in my sights to make sure you're safe". Jimin saw the cute shy smile on his brother's face and instantly knew that meant he agreed.

Hoseok loved his brother, even though they weren't blood related as he was adopted a few months before Jimin was born, he still loved him like his own brother and knew Jimin would do anything for him, just like he would for Jimin.

"Ah you're up early sweetie", Mrs. Park said as she greeted her son with a kiss on the forehead. Jimin pulled away and grabbed his bag off the floor. "Yeah mom, I have football practice in the morning starting today, Jungkook is gonna drive me and Hobi to school this morning, that's ok right?"

Mrs. Park looked at him with a smile, "Of course it is sweetheart, that friend of yours is such a good boy, make sure to wear a jacket boys, it's starting to get chilly", she said before tightening her robe and making her way to make her morning coffee.

"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you boys, the house next door finally has new owners, ah I really hope they have cute kids, they could come over and play with you two". Jimin rolled his eyes and that comment, "mom, we're almost 17 years old, stop thinking we're 5". His mom chuckled and said something about her babies never getting old.

"Ah Jimin, I need to go feed Mang and Tata really quickly, tell Jungkook I'm sorry, it will be 5 minutes tops", Hoseok said as he grabbed a brown paper bag off the counter
"Don't worry, Jungkook still isn't here, I'll text you when he is, just meet us up front".

Hoseok nodded and hurried out the backdoor. He walked to the back of his yard where the fence separated his house from the neighbors'. He was a bit sad when his mom told him that the house had new owners. That would mean the possibility of not being allowed to go over there anymore. The fence had a small gap where he could barely manage to squeeze through, all thanks to his slim frame.

He walked to the small bushy tree and in a small box rested two baby birds. Hoseok found them a couple weeks ago, barely saving their lives and decided to make their home in the same place he originally found the baby birds, just in case the mom ever came back for them. He decided if the mom didn't come back, he would be their new mother and from then on would feed them and take care of them.

"Mang and Tata, be good birds for me today!", he said in a cute voice and covered the box with a small blanket to make sure they stayed warm. Just as he was covering the box he heard the jingle of his phone, probably Jimin texting him that Jungkook was here. Glancing at his phone he was right.

"Bye mang, bye tata", he whispered softly before hurriedly making his way back to his house, he kissed his mom farewell and saw Jungkook's car parked in the driveway. Jungkook lived a few blocks away from them in a much nicer house and he always seemed like a good kid but he didn't know why he would always pick on him from time to time. Hoseok opened the car door and got in, "sorry about making you wait Jungkook, thank you for giving me a ride", he said politely.

Jungkook and Hoseok's eyes met through the rear-view mirror, "I'm here because Jimin begged me but I don't mind taking you along with us", Hoseok smiled and looked down at his lap, he wasn't used to Jungkook being nice to him. "By the way, you look like a nerd so make sure to not hang around me too much, or people will think I hang out with you", Jungkook smirked as he looked at him again through the rear-view mirror. Hoseok knew it was too good to be true.

The rest of the ride was Jimin and Jungkook talking about the new football team's members and Hoseok quietly listened to their conversation. Upon reaching the school they all got out of the car and walked to the front of the school, there were already students scattered around and knew this is where they would have to part ways. Jimin hugged his brother and told him he would see him at lunch.

"You two are too close it's creepy", Jungkook added in a judgmental tone. Hoseok smiled softly deciding to ignore the comment.

"Thank you again for the ride Jungkook, I hope I can repay the favor sometime in the future". Hoseok yelped as Jungkook's palm made contact with his butt, "Lighten up Hoseok, it's just a ride, you know it's not that big of a deal, but maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day".

Jungkook and Jimin waved goodbye and they walked away from him towards the gym. Hoseok didn't know what he meant but he had a feeling it would be doing his homework or something like that.

Walking down the long corridor he bowed to all the teachers he passed and made his way to the student council office. On his desk was a sheet of paper of the student council duties.

1. Plan for prom

2. List of clubs

3. Upcoming events

4. List of new students.

Looking at the list he knew it would take many months to get all of these done but the 4th on the list looked manageable so that's the one he tackled.

He grabbed a few papers off the filing cabinet and was surprised when he saw there was only one student on the new students for this month. His job was to make sure the schedule was right and to ensure all the paperwork for that student was in and properly filed. It was finished quickly and easily as usually there were about ten new students a month.

‘Oh he has a few classes with me, actually he basically has my whole schedule except for the Student Council class of course.... Kim Taehyung, I wonder what kind of person he is, I hope we get along seeing as we'll be seeing each other a lot'.

He looked at his watch and decided to walk to his classroom, and start preparing for class.
