Work Text:

Tulip signifies a declaration of love. Also signifies fame and perfect love.

It was a fine, sunny day in the middle of April when Tae turned up at her apartment one day and suggested they go out for a walk together. She gladly accepted, as it had been three days since she'd left the place due to an essay that was due the next day, and her nerves were shot, her brain turned to mush.

She grabbed her jacket, and they went out together, comfortably like the old friends they were.

It was a bit chilly, a slight breeze hung in the air, but it was lovely nonetheless. They walked to a haunt of theirs (a local cafe which served shit, yet cheap coffee for their broke student asses) and got their usual orders, before heading to the park where they walked side by side, talking about this that and the other. Y/n couldn't help but notice that as always, Tae looked so beautiful, with his cheeks reddened a bit from the cold, his hair gently mussed up by the wind and his scarf flapping out behind him. Stop it', she internally scolded herself. You're old friends, nothing more nothing less.

They sat down on an old rickety bench, opposite a flowerbed filled with tulips and other flowers of springtime, which were just beginning to bloom. She cupped her hands around her coffee cup and drank deeply as she listened to meandering river of his soft voice talk about his music, which was just becoming successful, his hopes, his dreams. She interjected once in a while, her voice sounding scalding even to her own ears. They kept this up until he stopped, and she turned to look at him quizzically, only to see him looking at her intently, as if he were studying a painting in a museum.

"What is it?" She asked, genuinely worried that something was wrong.

"Nothing, it's just, you look so beautiful right now and I can't believe you're sitting in front of me without knowing that."

She blushes, and his eyes go wide as he realises what he's just saying.

"Oh god I...um sorry that probably sounded really weird sorry sorry sorry," he continued to ramble until she shushed him with a "don't worry, it's fine, I was just caught off guard."

"Oh, okay." He heaved a sigh of relief, and then suddenly, stands up and runs over to the flowerbed, and plucks a tulip.

"Taehyung, what are you doing? I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to take one of those!" She called out to him, worried someone would see. He merely just grins and rushes back to her, holding a tulip out for her, hands shaking a little bit. He cleared his throat, and confessed after God knows how long. Too long, he thinks.

"I love you, y/n. I'll love you until the world explodes and there's nothing left but dust. I'll love you even when we're both old and grey and knocking on death's door. I'll love you with everything I've got, everything I have because you deserve it, and so so so much more. I love you to the moon and back y/n, always have and always will."

She's in shock. Her coffee stands beside her, cold and forgotten, as she takes in what he says. He can't be serious can he? She thinks. But when she looks into his deep brown eyes, those eyes she's been gazing into for what feels like forever, she sees that they're full of sincerity and love and that yes, he is deadly serious about what he's saying. Her heart leaps for joy, and so she takes the tulip from him and plants a soft, light kiss on his lips that says I love you too, I always have and I always will, and since day one I've always wanted to be yours. It's always been you, can't you see that?

As they part, she sees his mouth turn up into a grin, delighted beyond all accounts as his love is required. He doesn't even need to vocalise it, sure, she's been able to read him for the longest time.

The two of them match eachother, are perfect for eachother. When they embrace, her body moulds into his as if they were made for eachother.

Finally, they both think in unison, letting out a mental sigh of release and joy.
