"Happy birthday." (pt2)

Summary:

Hoseok is very happy to be back and be in Yoongi's arms. He gets even happier when Yoongi surprises him with an early birthday gift.
[Follow up to "I missed you" and there's a reference to "Daegu boys need to stick together", so you should read those first.]

Notes:

Sometimes, it's really hard to say those three little words: I love you. So we tip-toe around it, we show our love through gestures, other phrases...
Basically, this is a series of one shots on how the boys care about each other. And we all know how hard it is for boys to actually talk about their feelings. So, cue angst, fluff and love. Lots of love.
Notice: some of these might be romantic relationships, others more platonic. I guess it will depend on the prompt and my inspiration~

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Hoseok woke up to a dark room, which meant he had slept for hours. But Yoongi's body was still next to him, so he didn't really care. He snuggled closer to him, nuzzling his nose against the soft skin of Yoongi's neck. He sighed happily, blinking one eye open.

“Hey, sleeping beauty.” teased Yoongi.

He looked up and found a lopsided grin on his hyung's lips, his eyes fixed on his phone's screen. Hoseok closed his eyes again, yawning loudly as he snuggled even closer. “How long did I sleep?”

“A while.” Yoongi put down his phone, adjusting his body a little so he could glance down at Hoseok. “Looked like you needed it.”

Hoseok hummed, opening his eyes and propping himself up on Yoongi's chest. He smirked as he looked into Yoongi's eyes. “I needed you.”

Yoongi chuckled, shaking his head. He ruffled Hoseok's hair, brushing his locks from his forehead. “You hungry?”

As if on cue, his stomach let out a loud grumble, claiming food. “Guess I am.” he confirmed, yawning again.

“I think Seokjin hyung is cooking for all of us, tonight.” said Yoongi quietly, still brushing his fingers through Hoseok's hair. “I heard him curse in the kitchen. I think the kids tried to help him.” Yoongi laughed softly and Hoseok could feel the vibrations of it through his own body on top of him. He closed his eyes, feeling at complete peace.

“Thought you said you were hungry...” whispered Yoongi after a few seconds. His hand stopped petting his hair and slipped down to his jawline, caressing his face. “Or you're still too tired?”

He grinned, blinking his eyes open to check if Yoongi really was as worried as he sounded. “Just really like lying on top of you, hyung.”

Yoongi's lips twitched into a grin. “You're so cheesy...”

“Says the one that told me I smelled like home just a few hours ago...” quipped Hoseok.

They both laughed at that, but neither of them still moved a muscle to get out of bed.

Hoseok sighed, pouting his lips as he looked up at Yoongi from underneath his eyelashes. “I really don't wanna get up, but I'm too hungry.”

“Want me to go get you food?” proposed Yoongi.

And Hoseok actually got surprised at that. “You'd do that?” he asked, arching one eyebrow.

“Well, it's almost your birthday.” replied Yoongi, shrugging his shoulders. “And I'd do anything for you, Seokie.”

“Ha, hyung, I'm gonna get diabetes if you keep being so sweet...” protested Hoseok, covering his face with his hands.

Yoongi just laughed, ruffling Hoseok's hair again.

“But I still haven't said hi to the others. I should at least greet them.” he sighed, finally starting to get up.

“You're right.” hummed Yoongi, stretching his shoulders and back before following Hoseok out of bed.

They made their way to the kitchen, messy bed-hair and matching dopey grins on their faces. They could hear Seokjin yell something, while the maknaes giggled.

“Hey, you're hope is back!” greeted Hoseok making a triumphant entrance in the kitchen.

“Hyung!” replied excitedly Jimin, running up to him and wrapping him into a tight hug.

Hoseok grinned as he hugged him back. “Hey Jiminie.”

As soon as Jimin let him go, Jeongguk and Taehyung took their turn to hug him, saying how much they missed him.

“I was away for, like, two weeks, guys!” laughed Hoseok.

“We just missed you!” said Taehyung, pouting his lips.

“I was actually coming to wake you sleepyheads up.” piped up Seokjin, hands on his hips and a grin on his face. “Dinner's ready.”

“Good. I'm starving.” replied Hoseok, sitting at the table next to a bashful Namjoon. By the look on his face, he probably just had gotten scolded by Seokjin. “Hey, Joonie. How's your nose?” he asked, bumping their shoulders together.

“Better.” sighed Namjoon. He turned to look at him and smiled. “I missed you, too, you know.” he admitted, more shyly than the others, as he put a hand on Hoseok's thigh.

“Ya, what's up with everyone being so sweet and cheesy?” he laughed soundly.

“What? Why? Who else was sweet and cheesy?” asked Seokjin, a fake surprised expression appearing on his face.

Yoongi chocked on a cough, his ears turning a little red when Hoseok glanced at him. “Where's the food?” he asked instead, sitting next to Hoseok.

He could see the others hide their laughter, taking their spots at the table while Seokjin and Jimin served the food.

They ate (relatively) slowly, enjoying the homemade meal and catching up. They laughed, they smiled, they got cheesy again and once their bellies were full, they all agreed on doing the dishes together – something rare. Except for Namjoon, who was still supposed to rest and almost got yelled at when he tried to help. He then excused himself, a pout on his lips, saying he would go take a nap since he was tired from the trip to visit his family. Dishes all cleaned up, the eldest boy announced he would go out with his friends, while the maknaes decided to catch up on some anime together in the living room.

“I'm going to the studio to work on something.” said Yoongi, mostly to the others, but his eyes kept glancing to Hoseok, as if he was silently asking him to go with him.

“I'll go with you, hyung. Gotta finish up my mixtape.”

Yoongi smiled, pleased. Hoseok just grinned cheekily, ignoring Seokjin's questioning looks.

They left together, going to their company building. Hoseok did plan on getting some work done, of course. But Yoongi dragged him inside his own studio, locking the door behind them.

“Any particular reason why I'm in here?” wondered Hoseok, glancing around the room before sitting down in Yoongi's chair.

“I've got you a present.” explained Yoongi, taking out a rather thin box from one of his desk drawers. The box was carefully wrapped, cute designs decorating the paper and a green ribbon on top of it.

“Hyung...” Hoseok looked up from the box and into Yoongi's eyes.

“I know.” interrupted him Yoongi, rolling his eyes. “I didn't have to, but...” he took Hoseok's hand and turned it, his palm up. He deposited the box on it, smirking at Hoseok's surprised expression. “I noticed someone got kinda jealous when Taehyung and I got similar rings...”

Hoseok gasped dramatically, holding his free hand to his chest. “I'm not jealous!”

“Rrrrright.” teased Yoongi.

Hoseok scoffed, a grin still pulling at his lips. He let it spread as he started to unwrap the present, his fingers gentle and careful to not ruin the ribbon and paper. He loved keeping everything. Yoongi had chose and put extra work on doing it. He couldn't just throw everything away.

When he finally opened the small box, he let out a real, soft gasp.

“I know it's cheesy. And silly.” started Yoongi, grabbing another chair and sitting down next to Hoseok, his hand coming to his thigh and squeezing down lightly. “But I thought you'd like this kind of things...”

“Hyung.” whispered Hoseok, taking out the contents of the box. “Are these matching bracelets?”

“Yep.”

He looked up at Yoongi, his eyes wide. They had all started giving each other birthday gifts (even expensive ones, after their recent success) and some of them just gifted each other because they wanted to. Hoseok guessed the others probably felt as happy as he was, giving presents to the people they loved, seeing them smile. But Yoongi had always been the shyest of them when it came to presents. He would get them something and then wait forever to actually give it to them. Or he would just leave it in their room. He was more confident with Hoseok, surprising him with small gifts or even simply bringing him his favorite tea whenever he passed by Hoseok's studio. It was sweet. And Hoseok loved it. But he was still taken aback when he saw the bracelets.

“You don't like it?” asked Yoongi, his brow furrowing in worry.

Hoseok laughed out loud, shaking his head. “I love it.” He passed one to Yoongi and wore the other one, admiring his wrist.

“I wanted to get you a ring, but I saw these and I thought it would look good on you.” admitted Yoongi, his voice barely over a whisper as he moved closer to Hoseok.

Hoseok held his breath. Yoongi wanted to get him a ring. Yoongi wanted to get him a ring????

“It's, um, you know... like, promise bracelets? Not just matching, but...” Yoongi's usually pale face started to turn into a darker shade of pink, his eyes frantically glancing from Hoseok's eyes to his lips. “a promise that we'll always be together. No matter what. Not just as Bangtan. But... you and I.”

Hoseok couldn't stop his grin from getting wider and wider, until his cheeks hurt from how hard he was smiling. “You know, hyung?” he said, kicking his feet a little from happiness. “I'm feeling so powerful right now.”

“Uh?” Yoongi looked at him, confused.

“I've turned Min Yoongi, aka Suga, aka Agust D, one of the swaggiest rappers ever into the cheesiest of fluffballs.”

Yoongi chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. “Shut up.” he mumbled, his ears getting pinker as well.

Hoseok just giggled. He kicked his feet again, making the chair spin around and laughing excitedly as Yoongi's own lips turned up to reveal the gummiest smile.

Yoongi stood up, stopped Hoseok's chair by grabbing the armrests and leaned into Hoseok's personal space. He hesitated, their noses almost touching. “Happy birthday, Seokie.” he breathed out against Hoseok's lips.

Hoseok closed his eyes as they kissed. It was sweet and tentative and the best kiss they had shared so far. He framed Yoongi's face with his hands to keep him in place as he deepened it, enjoying the small moans he got from his hyung.

They pulled away after a few more moments, dopey grins on their now swollen lips.

“It's not my birthday, yet, though.” whispered Hoseok, his thumbs caressing Yoongi's cheekbones.

“This is just a taste. You'll get more tomorrow.” replied Yoongi, his grin turning into a playful and mischievous smirk.

“Ha, such a tease.” chuckled Hoseok, before leaning in and kissing him again.

Notes:

So, I noticed Hoseok's bracelet during his vlive and couldn't help but think "what if Yoongi gave it to him??" but I didn't want to be too obnoxious, you know? But then. THEN, I saw this https://www.instagram.com/p/Bf2NnpJn0Ih/?hl=it&taken-by=fuxtom and, come on, they do look very similar and can you blame me for being so obnoxious??? I mean, fine, you can't really see them that clearly, but the structures do look alike. This is why I didn't describe the bracelets, though. I'll probably come back to fix it if we ever get a better view of them!
Now excuse me, while I go back crying over how cute yoonseok are~~
