Work Text:
Jimin didn’t want to be a stereotype. He was not the kind of omega who needed the constant attention of some knot-head alpha or who couldn’t do anything for themselves. So when he found a spider in the bathroom of his apartment one morning before class, he definitely did not cry and shriek and immediately call his father.
“Jimin, what do you want me to do? Drive all the way down to Seoul from Busan just to kill a spider? You’re the one who wanted to be so independent. You kill it.”
“Dad it’s fucking huge and you know I’ve been afraid of spiders since one crawled in my ear when I was little. You don’t need to be so mean. Just tell me how to kill it?” Jimin sobbed out.
“Whack it with a shoe or something, Jimin. I don’t know. Listen, I’ve really gotta head to work now, and I know you need to get to class, so hurry up. I love you. You can do this.” His dad promptly hung up the phone.
“‘Love you’ my ass,” he muttered under his breath.
Jimin slowly made his way back into the bathroom armed with a heavy combat boot and shaky hands. However, Jimin realized to his terror, the spider was nowhere to be seen. If it was any other pest, a roach, a stink bug, a fucking rat, now would be the time that Jimin would give up and carry on with his day. But fucking spiders. Why did have to be a spider? Now he had to move out of his goddamn apartment.
Jimin was about to exit the bathroom when he felt a tickling sensation on his bare foot. He slowly looked down, and to his horror, saw the 3 inch 8-legged creature crawling its way up his ankle.
Jimin had never screamed so loud in his life.
He bolted through apartment with tears running down his face, violently shaking his leg in the process. As he flung the door open, he decided that this was officially the worst day of his life. When he was out in the hall, Jimin found that thankfully the monster had fallen off of during his flailing.
What the fuck did he do now?
He was stuck in the hallway in nothing but his comfortable pajama shorts and an oversized sweater, looking as though he had just escaped a murderer (Jimin thought bitterly that he basically had, that spider was big enough to rip his head off). And there was no way in hell that he was ever going back into that place, ever.
Just when he was about to resign himself to his new life living on the doorstep of his own goddamn house, he heard a door opening behind him. Jimin turned to see his incredibly attractive alpha neighbor, whom he had only spoken to once before.
“Hey, I heard some screaming from your apartment earlier, are you alr- oh god, are you crying? Are you hurt?” the alpha said with a deep, intoxicating voice. The man- Yoongi, Jimin remembered- walked intently over to him, his instincts probably telling him to protect and comfort the omega in front of him. Jimin sniffled and cleared his throat before answering.
“N-no, I’m not hurt, I just-” a few more tears escaped Jimin’s eyes, “there’s this giant spider in my apartment, a-and I’m really afraid of them and it’s so big and it crawled on me and I now I don’t know where it is so I can’t go back in there but I really need to get to my class because I’m already running late-”
“Hey, hey, it’s going to be fine. If you’d like, I can go kill it for you? Would that be okay?” he asked as he soothingly rubbed the omega’s shoulder.
The viciously independent side of him that hated weakness wanted to protest having an alpha take care of it instead of himself, but the arachnophobe part of him, an apparently much, much bigger part of him, wanted nothing more than to have Yoongi smoosh that stupid thing to death.
“Yes, p-please do. Go right ahead.”
Yoongi opened his door, and when he realized that Jimin wasn’t following him, he chuckled a bit.
“You’re really not going in until that spider is gone, huh?”
Jimin was affronted. “Of course not!” he knew he was slightly overreacting, but he didn’t care. Yoongi let out another (incredibly cute) laugh, and made his way inside.
“Holy shit, this thing really is big,” Jimin heard from inside his apartment, followed by a loud whack and the flushing of his toilet. Yoongi made his way out a few moments later.
“Alright, the spider is dead and on its way to its watery grave. Nothing to worry about anymore.” Jimin laughed at his teasing and Yoongi ruffled the younger man’s hair. Jimin’s omega was immensely satisfied with the gesture.
“Thank you so much, Yoongi-ssi. I really appreciate it.”
“No need for that. You can call me hyung. After all, you might need more help with pests in the future.” Jimin appreciated that, but he wanted to make something clear.
“Just by the way, I’m not some helpless omega Yoongi-hyung. I can take care of things on my own, just not spiders, you know?” He didn’t want to seem completely useless in front of the alpha, but those were some brave words, Jimin knew, considering that his eyes had only just dried from the entire incident.
“I know. It’s rare that you see an omega living by themselves, but it’s cool that you’re so independent. And I definitely get it, spiders are scary. But regardless, I wouldn’t mind seeing you more often, if you’d like. Spiders or no spiders.”
Jimin blushed a deep red. Usually, he didn’t enjoy being hit on by alphas. They were always so demanding and harsh, expecting Jimin to say yes to their every command. But Yoongi seemed genuinely nice, and he was obviously concerned with Jimin’s comfort. Instead of scolding his decision to be independent like most did, he said it was cool, and he did kill a scary ass spider for him, after all. Plus, the alpha’s scent, one of cedar wood and petrichor, was incredibly intoxicating. Not overbearing like most alpha’s scents usually were. Jimin let out a nervous giggle.
“I think I would like that, hyung. You seem really sweet.” he said in a quiet voice. Yoongi grinned.
“Thank you. I am sorry that it took a giant spider attack for me to approach you, though.”
“Ah, it’s okay, now I guess something good came out of the experi- oh shit! I have class in 20 minutes!” Jimin exclaimed. He rushed back into his apartment, slammed the door behind him, skidded to a halt, and made his way back into the hall. Now that the anxiety and fear had worn off, he was feeling his usual (actually, unusual, for an omega at least) confident self again.
“I’ll be back home around 4:00. We can head to dinner around 5:30? Does that work for you?” he asked a slightly stunned Yoongi as he peeked through his doorway.
“Uhm, yeah. That works for me.”
“Great. I’ll see you then, Yoongi-hyung” He kissed the alpha’s cheek quickly and turned, entering his apartment for real this time.
“Yeah, see you then,” Yoongi mumbled to himself with a smirk on his face. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was that a spider showed up in Park Jimin’s apartment that morning.
