Work Text:
Jeongguk wakes to the sounds of city traffic, the early morning rush particularly loud today. After contemplating for a few moments, he decides to open his eyes rather than chase his childish dream, and boy does he make the right decision. Taehyung's sleeping face is mere inches from his, devoid of all makeup and tension undetectable. Jeongguk's lips twist into a smile as his boyfriend lets out a soft snore followed by what Jeongguk thinks is the cutest yawn he's ever heard. He slowly and hesitantly peels one of his hands away from it's hold on the curve of Taehyungs back and brings it up to cup his jaw, his thumb rubbing small circles into his boyfriend's puffy cheeks. Taehyung wakes soon after, sleepy brown eyes meeting Jeongguks. Its a few moments before Jeongguk realizes he's staring, but he doesn't look away.
Taehyung breaks the stare with a humored tsk and stuffs his head into the crook of Jeongguk's neck. "Why do you always look at me like that?" He asks, the question both rhetorical and sincere.
"Like what, baby?" Jeongguk presses a kiss to Taehyung's hair. "Like you're my sun, moon, and all of my stars?" Jeongguk can feel Taehyung's face heat up against his neck and his stomach lurches in fondness. God, he's whipped. "Don't get worked up hun, it's just what you deserve."
Taehyung pulls his head from the crook of Jeongguk's neck, slightly to Jeongguk's disappointment. His disappointment doesn't last long, however, because Taehyung cups Jeongguk's jaw with both hands and pulls him into a lazy kiss. It's sloppy, and their teeth clash a few times, but Jeongguk wouldn't have it any other way.
After a while of half-asleep making out, Taehyung presses a kiss onto the tip of Jeongguk's nose and climbs out of bed, slipping on one of Jeongguk's discarded white shirts and a pair of his own boxers before walking out of the room. Jeongguk stretches his entire body over the bed, the left side still tingling with the warmth Taehyung left. He lays like that for a few minutes, taking in the sounds of the early morning city and the cool apartment air contrasting with the warm mattress against his naked form. Eventually, he stands up and slips on a pair of basketball shorts before he goes to join his boyfriend in the kitchen.
As Jeongguk walks down the small hallway to the kitchen, faint music reaches his ears and he recognizes the song instantly. He pauses in the kitchen doorway, watching his boyfriend slowly waltz around the open space, eyes closed as he mouths the words to the song. Jeongguk glides over to Taehyung and hugs him from behind, slightly startling the latter who quickly calms down once he realizes its Jeongguk. Taehyung eases into Jeongguk's touch, still swaying to the music.
Taehyung closes his eyes once again and begins singing, his husky voice sweetly complementing the savory tune of "Saving All My Love for You" by Whitney Houston. His hands meet Jeonguk's resting on his waist as he too mumbles the tune into Taehyung's ear.
The song comes to an end and their swaying slows to a stop, Jeongguk pressing a small kiss to the back of his boyfriend's ear before pulling away to dig in the pantry for cereal. He's quickly stopped by Taehyung though, who taps his shoulder playfully and wiggles his finger when Jeongguk gives him a questioning look.
"I'm making breakfast today, sweetheart." Taehyung grins, swatting Jeongguk's arm when he rolls his eyes. "What? I'm an amazing cook!"
"Tell that to the fucking waffle maker."
"That was a shit waffle maker anyway." Taehyung scoffs.
"Okay, fair point." Jeongguk ruffled his boyfriend's hair. "I'll give you a second chance."
Taehyung scoffs again, searching through the cabinets for the utensils and pans he needs. "I was gonna do it anyway. Didn't need your permission, hun."
"Whatever floats your burning boat." Jeongguk laughs as he lifts himself up to sit on the counter, watching his boyfriend with fondness as Taehyung finds the tools he needed and sets them on the bar. For the next few minutes, they sit in silence, the only noise being the popping of Tae frying eggs and bacon and Tae's busy hums.

Although the toast is kind-of burnt, it's the best breakfast Jeongguk's ever had. He had severely doubted Taehyung's cooking skills after the incident with the waffle maker last month, but now he was realizing his mistake as he stuffs his mouth full of bacon and eggs. Taehyung didn't really mean he was making them breakfast; the gesture was more like I'm going to make you breakfast and listen to you praise me to boost my ego. It was working so far, Jungkook pausing every few moments to mumble some praise ("Taetae, this is so good", "Baby, where did you learn to cook?", "Is this what god eats?").
Jeongguk eventually finishes eating, sighing loudly as he pushes the empty plate away from him and pats his belly. "Okay, I'm pretty sure I just gained fifty pounds.".
Taehyung walks around the table and laces his fingers through Jeongguks, pulling him up from his chair and dragging him into the living room. "Y'know, dance is a great exercise. Why don't you dance with me?" he asks as he pulls Jeongguk's hands to his own waist and slips his own into the nape of Jeongguk's neck.
The laugh the younger lets roll out of his body is dripping with fondness and love. Again, he's totally whipped for Taehyung and he accepts his whipped-ness.
"What did I do to deserve someone as pure and smooth as you?"
"I don't know about pure, but you must've done a hell of a lot of good to get someone as smooth as me."
They stand like that for a moment, frozen in silent bliss, until Jeongguk awkwardly clears his throat. "Uh, unless you want us to awkwardly dance to the sound of the air conditioning, you should play some music."
Taehyung snaps up and quickly untangles himself from Jeongguk, heading over to the aux cord connected to their stereo. "Sorry, I phased out a little." He connects his phone to the system and furrows his brow as he looks through his hundreds of songs, trying to find a perfect one for this moment. Finally, a soft piano ballad echoes through their surround sound system, the soft yet upbeat notes filling the air with a sense of warmth and belonging. "I hope our neighbors like Petit Biscuit." Taehyung walks over to Jeongguk and fits their bodies together as if they're puzzle pieces; foreheads resting against one another, Taehyung's large hands cupping the nape of Jeongguk's neck, the younger's hands clasped around Tae's hips. They sway slowly for a few moments, both's eyes closed as they simply feel each other; the way they almost telepathically communicate their feelings through their breathing patterns, the way they lean into each others touch as if it's the only source of warmth in an arctic tundra and the way they just know the love they have for one another is unmatched by anyone else.
The piano picks up, high notes and subtle three-count drum beats changing the atmosphere from one of quiet longing to one of tender romance. Tae is the first to open his eyes, reveling in the way Jeongguk's eyelashes rest over the faint purple of his undereye. Jeongguk must've felt Tae's gaze because his eyes flutter open and lock onto his boyfriends. They're still slowly swaying to the beat of the song, eyes locked and bodies fitted together.
Suddenly, the piano becomes quicker, the soft beginning notes returning accompanied by the higher pitched notes and three-count beat. A deaf man could tell what this bit stands for.
Falling in love.
Jeongguk tugs Taehyung closer, their stomachs flushed together. Taehyung reaches both of his hands up to cup either side of Jeongguk's face. He smiles softly, and leans in to kiss the younger, finally fitting the last pieces of the puzzle together as the piano picks up once again. There's no battle for dominance or intense longing, but just a sense of love undefinable. If one had to put it into words, it would be like everything and yet nothing at all. If you could take every word synonymous with love from every language and press them into one, it still couldn't define this type of love. It's all their own. It's their unique story.
The piano drops down into a bass, the beats still laying softly in the background, but they fade out, leaving nothing but those notes the song had begun with. This was it; this was their destination. This is where you land when you fall in love. Right at the beginning; only to repeat the cycle infinitely. Falling in love over and over again, ebbing and flowing like the ocean tides.
Taehyung slowly pulls away from the kiss as the song fades into silence, Jeongguk looking up at him with wide eyes. "Holy shit." The younger's voice is shaky and his face is red, his chest rising and falling heavily. Taehyung can't imagine he looks much better. He hesitantly unlaces himself from Jeongguk's grasp and walks over to his phone. He takes note of the songs name (because fuck, any song that can make him fall in love with Jeongguk all over again is a song that needs to be remembered) and unplugs the aux cord, turning back to Jeongguk to drag him onto the couch and cuddle him, the younger slipping between Tae's legs and leaning his shirtless form back against Taehyung's chest.
"Honey?" Jeongguk murmurs against Taehyung's neck.
"Yeah, sweetheart?"
"I love you."
Taehyung sighs. "I love you too." He shifts his head to give Jeongguk a soft peck on the lips.
They both meant the three words with every fiber of their being.
