Work Text:
He was known as the prodigy. Jeon Jeongguk was perfect in everyway. On campus, everyone knew his name. Jeongguk was the student who seemed to be everywhere at once and excelled at everything he did. Everyone wanted to know him, girls and boys alike wanted to be with him, teachers loved him and there wasn’t a single flaw in him.
That was the Jeongguk that everyone thought they knew. On the other hand, Jeongguk wasn’t perfect and he knew it. There was one thing everyone failed to notice when they sought him out as their muse. Jeongguk never tried to hide it, it was just no one cared to notice. Jeon Jeongguk was a golden boy, the perfect student, perfect teacher and perfect son but, Jeon Jeongguk was also 100% gay.
He wasn’t ever outwardly interested in dating anyone, so no one ever really dug into that part of his life. If anyone had looked, they would have seen it. They would have seen it in the way his eyes would linger on his male peers in dance class. They would have felt it in the way he gripped his male opponents while he trained for his black belt. They would have heard it in the songs that he wrote about love. They would have saw it in the endless G-Dragon posters in his room. They would have seen it in the way his eyes would shine like stars when ever Min Yoongi would enter the room.
Min Yoongi. If Jeongguk was a golden boy, then Min Yoongi would be the sun that shines down on him to make him glow. Min Yoongi was the campus bad boy. Yoongi was the third year student with the leather jacket and devilish smirk. To everyone else, Min Yoongi was the shadow that looked at everyone from afar yet no one would see but to Jeongguk, he was the brightest light in the sky. Min Yoongi was the boy on campus that everyone would avoid, due to his reputation. Min Yoongi was rumored to be trouble, and no one wanted trouble, right? Jeongguk was the only one of his freshman class to disagree. Jeongguk wanted trouble, he wanted trouble in the form of Min Yoongi.
Yoongi was a genius. He may have a lot of rumors centered around his name but he was still in college for a good reason. Min Yoongi was the top of his class, his grades were so high that even when he should have been expelled for the fights and vandalism, it was overlooked by the dean. Min Yoongi was the top of the entire college, right next to his best friend Kim Namjoon. Min Yoongi who would smoke in non-smoking areas and torment the poor freshman asking for directions to their next class, was an absolute untouchable genius. Yoongi was the Dark Prince of campus and Jeongguk wanted to be his Golden Boy.
You would never expect these two to meet, or to ever acknowledge the other’s existence. If happened rather unexpectedly for both of them. It was like fate had decided to intertwined their lives at the precise moment of their worst days.
Jeongguk was running late. For the first time in his life, he was running late to his lecture. Jeongguk woke up to his alarm, the same way that he did every morning at precisely 7:00am. The shrill beeping of his phone rang in his ear, disturbing him from his sleep. Jeongguk let out a soft sigh as the beeping continued, before accepting his defeat and rolling over to turn it off. He sat there for a moment, collecting his thoughts before stretching out like a lazy cat, letting out a big yawn. He reached up to rub the sleep from his eyes while checking his phone for the schedule he had for the day.
The day was Wednesday, April 20th:
8:00am Psychology Lecture
9:00am Photography Class
10:00am Study Hall in the Library
11:00am Lunch with Taehyung and Jimin
1:00pm Judo Club Meeting
3:00pm Music Theory with Yoongi-Hyung
3:15pm Yoongi-Hyung
3:30pm Yoongi-Hyung
4:00pm Yoongi-Hyung
5:00pm Dance Rehearsal
Jeongguk snickered at his the schedule he had planned. Music Theory was his favorite class. Mostly because Min Yoongi was in it. Jeongguk couldn’t be top of the class if Yoongi was in it because the elder always had that spot. The two men have never even talked but Jeongguk definitely knew Yoongi. Jeongguk had stared at the elder for more hours than he had payed attention to the teacher. Jeongguk was head-over-heels for Min Yoongi but Jeongguk knew that the elder probably didn’t even know who he was.
As Jeongguk sighed, he stood up to pick out his clothes for the day before he went to take a shower. He padded over to his closet, shuffling around the clothes scattered over the floor. He looked at his wardrobe, trying to pick something nice. Usually he would pick out a casual outfit that didn’t look any different from any other outfit, but today he would see Min Yoongi. So, thinking carefully he sifted through his clothes before deciding he would wear a plain white t-shirt, with light blue jeans and a baby pink silk jacket over top of it. Last minute, knowing he could rock it, he added a small black choker as accessory, along with a couple rings and bracelets. He folded all the articles neatly before heading to the bathroom.
He lived in an apartment with his best friends, Taehyung and Jimin. Knowing them, they won’t be up for another 30 minutes, rushing to get ready to accompany him to his first lecture of the day. Jeongguk wasn’t exactly a morning person, but he knew if he didn’t get up when he did, then he would always be late. Grimacing at the brightness as he flicked on the bathroom light, he began his morning routine, brushing his teeth, showering, styling his hair, moisturizing his face, applying makeup where it was needed, etc. Jeongguk wasn’t high maintenance but he just liked to look nice.
He was out of the bathroom and getting dressed when he noticed that while he was in the shower, he had gotten a message in a group chat on his phone.

Jeongguk laughed at Taehyung’s uses of emoticons before looking through his emails at their partner lists. In all honesty, Jeongguk should have seen it coming, he just hadn’t really thought about it.
Jeon Jeongguk - Min Yoongi.
Jeongguk stared at the screen.
Jeon Jeongguk - Min Yoongi.
Jeongguk refreshed it. It said the same thing. He refreshed it again. It didn’t change. Jeon Jeongguk would have to work with Min Yoongi, talk to Min Yoongi and do a FUCKING PROJECT with Min Yoongi.
Jeongguk was fucked. This is what repeated through his head as he sat on his bed while the minutes ticked by. He was so lost that when his phone rang, it startled him.
From: Jiminie-Babe
Jeongguk answered it without even really looking at his phone.
“Hello?” Jeongguk voiced, not really listening.
“Uh, Jeongguk, where the fuck are you? Tae and I thought that you had left early already when we left for class, but when we got here, you weren’t here. Class is starting in like 10 minutes!” Jimin sounded really worried and his tone alone, knocked Jeongguk out of his stuipor, making him look at the time.
7:50am.
Jeongguk shot up, “Jimin! Holy Fuck. I’m late. I’m lateeeeee!!!” Jeongguk rushed out of his apartment, grabbing his keys and tucking the phone into his shoulder as he stumbled through the door.
“Jeon Jeongguk, our golden boy is LATE?! Wooooooo, you are never going to hear the end of this one mister. You better fucking run because Mrs. Kim loves you, but I don’t know if she loves you enough to let you be late to Psych.” Jimin rattled on.
Jeongguk cursed under his breath as he ran down the stairs of the apartment complex. The campus was only a ten minute walk but Jeongguk didn’t know if he would make it in time if he ran.
“Hey Jeongguk, you still there? Yeah, I can hear you running. Fucking hell. But, hey, I gotta gooooo!~” Jimin hung up the phone and Jeongguk put the phone in his pocket, scrambling to get it in there without dropping it. He busted through the doors of his apartment complex when he noticed a motorcycle stopped at the red light. Jeongguk couldn’t help but think that the man riding it looked familiar. He shook his head before continuing down the street, twisting and turning to avoid the pedestrians casually walking. Jeongguk had nearly ran three blocks when he heard a voice call at him.
“Ya! You need a ride?” The motorcyclist that he had seen at the red light at caught up to him and has stopped, offering for him to get on. Jeongguk felt the angels sing down upon him. He looked at the man on the bike again, taking in the leather ensemble and the dark tint of his helmet. Jeongguk couldn’t see his face but there was something about him that seemed familiar.
“Oh my god. Yes! Please, if you wouldn’t mind?” Jeongguk quickly adjusted his backpack. “I am SO late for psychology. I lost track of time and well...” Jeongguk trailed off and took the helmet that the man was offering him. “You don’t need to hear all that.” The man chuckled before scooting forward, allowing Jeongguk space to swing his leg over the bike. Jeongguk put his helmet on and tuck himself close to the man. He had never ridden on a bike before but there was a time for everything, he supposed.
“Hey, hang on tight.” Jeongguk heard the man through the helmet on his head, noticing that there was a microphone within the helmet. Jeongguk let out a small squeak as the man took off, also tightening his arms around the other.
“First time on a bike?” The man chuckled, his deep laugh sending shivers up Jeongguk’s spine.
“Uh, is it that obvious?” Jeongguk squeaked. He was tempted to yell, unsure if the man heard him but he was relieved when he replied.
“In all honesty, yes. It seems our golden boy isn’t so golden after all. What got you so late anyway?”
Jeongguk was surprised to say the least, this man knew who he was? That must mean that he was a student on campus. He almost forgot to answer.
“Uh see well it’s kind of embarrassing, but I suppose I could tell you since you were so kind to give me a ride.” It’s funny, no one ever really asks Jeongguk these kinds of questions, to try and get to know him. “Well, I started my day off normally, nothing out of the ordinary. I go to check my emails and such, when I see I have one from Mr. Lee, the Music Theory teacher.” The man hums, recognizing the name. “So, Mr. Lee sends us this email about our upcoming project, and he had assigned us partners, right? You’ll never believe who my partner is either.” The man took a left, making Jeongguk momentarily pause his story.
“Sorry about that, but uh continue.” The man encourages Jeongguk to continue telling his tale.
“Oh! Yeah so, my partner turns out to be, Min Yoongi.” With his arms around him, Jeongguk could feel the other man tense slightly at the name.
“Ah, Min Yoongi huh?” The voice grumbles in recognition. “Why is that a problem?”
Even though the other man can’t see it, Jeongguk blushes furiously. He has no idea why he is just blabbering all his business to the other man. To Jeongguk, the other man seemed trustworthy. Maybe it was his instinct or gut feeling but for some ungodly reason, Jeongguk decided to trust this man.
“Because he is the Min Yoongi.” Jeongguk blushes again. The only other people to know about Jeongguk’s crush is Taehyung and Jimin, and they had to nearly beat the confession out of him. Yet, here he was about to tell some stranger.
“What’s wrong with Min Yoongi? Do you not like him or something? I hear that no one does.” The man seemed intrigued in his story so Jeongguk kept talking.
“Well… Min Yoongi does have quite the reputation. I get so nervous around him. To me, he’s really intimidating...” Jeongguk trails off, not sure how to put it into words.
“Ah, so you do hate him?” The man grumbled, sighing sadly, like he expected that answer.
Jeongguk quickly cut him off. “Oh no! I don’t hate him at all! I mean how could I, he’s so hot. Like goddamn, have you seen him. I never know if I want to kiss him and hold his hand or fuck him in the middle of lecture. His eyes are so fucking captivating and not to mention his hands. Holy shit, he plays the piano so well and he is so smart. I’m so in love with him, I could die. So, to answer your question, no, I don’t hate him. I just have the biggest intense crush on him.” Jeongguk’s blush intensified to the point where he whined in embarrassment, burying his face in the stranger’s shoulder. The man laughed so hard Jeongguk thought he was going to crash the bike.
“Fuck kid, okay so you don’t hate him. Then what was the problem, why were you late?” Jeongguk didn’t even realize he didn’t finish his story yet, he was so caught up in praising Min Yoongi.
“Ah geez, sorry. You probably didn’t need to hear all of that. Just the ramblings of your neighborhood gay. Anyway, to wrap it up, I was late because I was panicking. I got so caught up in trying to figure out how I was going to work with him, let alone talk to him.” Jeongguk shook his head. “Sorry, to run your ear off though.”
“It’s fine. Plus, I really enjoyed your story. This is probably going to be the highlight of my morning.” The man took on a teasing tone, his voice deep. He laughed again when Jeongguk whined.
Jeongguk saw that they were pulling up at his lecture hall and the man stopped to let him off. Jeongguk hopped off, taking off his helmet and turning around to give it back to the man.
“Thank you so much for this! Like, I seriously can’t thank you enough.” The man started to take his helmet off so then he could properly talk to Jeongguk. “This is like the best thing that could have-” Jeongguk stopped talking as soon as the man’s helmet was off. First he saw the platinum blonde hair. Then he saw those deep brown eyes. Finally, he saw the soft smirk sitting on the man’s face as he watched Jeongguk take in all his features. Min Yoongi was staring back at Jeongguk as Jeongguk slowly died inside.
“Now, I must say. That is definitely the best part about this morning.” Min Yoongi chuckled as he saw Jeongguk burning bright red, look of shock still never leaving his face. Yoongi took the helmet from Jeongguk’s still outwardly stretched arm.
“You-” Jeongguk couldn’t even get the words out. This is it. This is how he dies. The world is just going to swallow him whole right now and he will never been seen by anyone ever again.
“I.” Yoongi echos, smirk still on his face.
“I want to die.” Is all Jeongguk says, voice completely monotone. Yoongi chuckles again, his face brighter than Jeongguk has ever seen. In fact, this is the first time that Jeongguk has ever seen him smile. Min Yoongi has a gummy smile and Jeongguk locks that picture into his memory.
“You’re not allowed to die now. Especially, after that great confession. Oh, and we have a project to finish Jeon Jeongguk.” Yoongi looks Jeongguk up and down, checking him out. Jeongguk could feel his gaze, heating up his entire body.
“Min Yoongi! That is so not fair. I didn’t know it was you.” Jeongguk whines, wanting to erase himself from the planet. Jeongguk drops down, crouching with his hands over his eyes. “I hope this is a dream. If it isn’t, I hope the earth swallows me whole.” His voice comes out muffled from behind his hands. Jeongguk hears a sigh and Yoongi puts down the kickstand of the bike.
Jeongguk peaks from behind his fingers and sees Yoongi crouching down to his level.
“Jeongguk look at me.” Jeongguk doesn’t move his hands. Yoongi sighs again out of annoyance, and prys his hand from his face, forcing Jeongguk to look at him. “Guk, I ain’t gonna eat you, now look at me.” Jeongguk startles at the nickname.
“Look, you know that I have a big flaming crush on you. You don’t have to take pity on me, we can just forget all about it and you never have to see me ever again after we finish the project, okay?” Jeongguk sighs, he just wants to get the rejection over with. Yoongi moved his hands to cup the younger’s face.
“What if I don’t want to?” Yoongi smiles, all lopsided. Jeongguk thought it was cute but, he was confused. “I don’t want to forget it Jeon Jeongguk. You have the biggest fucking crush on me but I already have one on you. I thought you would never even look at me because the whole world has its eyes on you.” Yoongi’s face blossomed with a rosy pink color. Oh, he’s blushing. Min Yoongi is blushing and Jeongguk feels like he got slapped in the face.
“Are you fucking with me right now?” Jeongguk narrows his eyes.
“No. Shit, Guk, you’re fucking amazing okay?” Yoongi looks into his eyes and Jeongguk could see it. Min Yoongi was, in fact, not fucking with him.
“Holy Fuck.” That was all Jeongguk could say before he tipped himself forward. Jeongguk closed the distance between them, close enough that he could count all of Yoongi’s eyelashes if he wanted to. He could feel the older’s breath hitch, surprised.
“Hey, Guk… could I kiss you?” Yoongi’s breath mixed with his own. Jeongguk couldn’t even bring himself to voice an answer so he just nodded.
Yoongi’s lips on his felt like pillows and he couldn’t believe that he, Jeon Jeongguk, was kissing the Min Yoongi. Jeongguk let out a moan, pulling the older man closer. Yoongi groaned at the gesture, opening his mouth, prodding at the younger’s lips with his tongue. Jeongguk didn’t hesitate to let him in. Yoongi tasted like nicotine and peppermint and Jeongguk was already hooked on flavor. After a minute or so, both boys had to pull back to breathe. It was in that moment that Jeongguk realized that he was still late to his lecture.
“Holy fuck, Yoongi, my lecture.” Jeongguk quickly got up, fixing himself and speed walking to the building before stopping. He turned around, seeing Yoongi there, helmet under his arm, watching him walk away with a small smile on his face. Jeongguk ran back to him, pulling on his jacket to yank him into a kiss. “I’ll see you later in Music Theory, yeah?” Jeongguk asked, lip in between his teeth.
“Of fucking course, Sunshine.” Yoongi chuckled into Jeongguk’s ear. He pulled away slightly before going back to kiss Jeongguk again. “Now go, get to class. I can’t have my Golden Boy late.” Jeongguk blushed fiercely before turning around to rush into the building. Turns out, he wasn’t late after all. Maybe, it wasn’t a bad morning.
